  • "I would not cross town for this restaurant, but I love having it in my neighborhood. Very versitile - go with just your sweetie or a business associate, or with a large group. I end up there once or twice a week. Good food, relatively quiet, always have a table, even when busy (the place is huge). Pizza and pasta are excellent. Pasta portions are BIG. Service is ok not great, but tolerable."

  • "New to Casa Nonna, it was a surprise to find such a place in this neighborhood. Welcoming and pleasant, Casa Nonna is somewhat institutional, and their take on Restaurant Week was relatively restricted (having been to other upscale restaurants during RW, I can attest to this): the special menu had very few choices, so we wound up ordering off the menu. The food was fine--though not memorable. I think CN is a great place to go for work gatherings--they even have a private dining room that would be a great venue for work meals. The staff was very nice."

  • "We had reservations and were seated as soon as we arrived. The staff was friendly and attentive. The service was excellent and the food was superb. I highly recommend it. It's location is close to penn station and the garden so it's a great spot to eat if that's were your coming or going to. They were crowed but did not rush you at all."

  • "We took a chance trying Casa Nonna for a pre-concert dinner and were pleasantly surprised.between. Our table was ready for us and our server was very amiable and helpful. The interior is large and handsomely decorated, with plenty of tables for groups large and small, including a separate private room. The menu had something for everyone, from higher end specials to moderately priced pastas and appetizers. All the pastas were delicious, especially my spinach ravioli which was a part of the price fix menu that day. Everyone in our party of 6 had good things to say about their meals and left full & satisfied. One slight complaint: top shelf drink prices too high @ $17.00 per. Be warned"

  • "It's hard to find a good restaturant in this area. Once inside, you forget where yor are. While arguably Italian, this is not your regular pasta na dred sauce restaruant. The menu is interesting and varied and the food had made. Worth the trip from anywhere, particularly convenient to the Garden."

  • "This is a great location for anyone going to MS Garden. The food is prepared with care. I would say it is gourmet Italian. Portions are not huge, but just right. Everything was delicious. Desserts are unusual but tasty. The service was very attentive and good. A very friendly atmosphere and a pleasant experience."

  • "Came for the restaurant week menu. The mushroom soup was fine if unremarkable, though the rabbit salad appetizer was unique and tasty. Ordered pasta with sausage and brisket entrees, somewhat disappointed in both. The pasta was too heavy and buttery, and the brisket far too tough. Panacotta dessert did not seem to be as described on the menu and had an odd flavor, but enjoyed the poppy-seed polenta cake though it was a little small. The complementary bread was warm and spicy and delicious - some of the best I've ever had."

  • "From the moment you leave the city street you enter a rustic atmosphere that is welcoming and warm. The decor is a combination of colorful and ecclectic artwork and dark wall coverings. The service was excellent, efficient, and friendly. Our waitress helped with our choices and we bypassed the restaurant week specials for the regular menu . Roasted brussel sprouts is one of the hotel specialities and we shared a generous portion of very tasty sprouts. The pasta was perfectly cooked and special mention of the spaghetti pomodoro is needed. The sauce is one of the best I have ever tasted, and difficult to descibe. The grilled swordfish was moist and delicious served with roasted peppers, tomato, black olives and capers. Wonderful experience."

  • "Needed good food near MSG.Happened to be Restaurant Week.The special menu at $38 pp was terrific.We were a table of 4.We sat at a roomy corner banquette table.Wait staff very accommodating.Special 3 course menu offered fish, meat or pasta.Each were good choices,each was ordered at our table. There were 3 or 4 choices of an app.; delicious soup ordered by my hubby, fresh salads with cheeses, fruits and nuts, something else--can't remember.We were all very pleased with our choices. The portions of 3 course dinner were just right, leaving enough room for dessert: polenta cake with lemon glaze, something like that,delicious. A very nice tiramisu.Lovely flavors of sorbet. Left happy and full/plenty of time to walk to MSG!"

  • "This was our 2nd visit to Casa Nonna where four of us had a great dinner. I had the poached tuna on a bed of spaghettini. It was wonderful with its lemony undertones. The men opted for the chicken parm with an added side of spaghetti. All the pasta and bread is made fresh in premises. The bread that arrives at the table is garlicky and buttery and sliced very thin. You coul eat the whole basket it is so good. The last entree was scallops which looked lovely. We ordered some spinach as a side for the table. Everything was delectable! Looking forwArd to being back in city for another opportunity to visit Casa Nonna."

This was a business lunch so wanted the service to move along a little faster, but they were very pleasant and attentive.   • "We ate here before a show and were very pleased start to finish. It's a big open space so they can accomodate different sized groups. The menu offerd plenty of options with interesting takes on several dishes. The meatball/ricotta appetizer was a great start. The cavatelli lobster bolgnese was particularly good but all the meals were delicious. The service was prompt and attentive without hovering and allowed us to enjoy our meal and still make the show in plenty of time."

The Prices were very reasonable. It's $25 for 3 courses. My only criticism of the food was that my salad was overly salty. My friend and I stayed talking for a long time and we were not rushed out. It was very nicd"

  • "I absolutely love this restaurant!! The food and service are always spot on! A friend and I met first for a quick drink at the bar (btw they have a great happy hour) and proceeded to our table. Our server was great and very informative about the menu and also able to give us some great wine suggestions. During the evening one of the mgrs, Rob I believe, stopped by to check in on us and our experience. From start to finish everything was amazing! Will be back soon."

  • "In a word, exceptional. Great night. The Pici Alla Toscana bolognese was magnificent; great ragu. My wife had the butternut squash ravioli with brussel sprouts...I can't remember the name, but she loved it. The room had great ambiance...both the dining and the bar area spilled out nicely and the staff was competent with the menu and the pairing of the wines. They could not have been nicer or more entertaining. I had no problem leaving a 30% tip... well deserved."

  • "Second time here. The first time, in December, was spotty. The food is consistently good, the drinks good, the portions just ok. And when you serve country bread, 3 tiny little pieces for 2 people is just not enough. My fish was well prepared . The broccoli Rabe was just ok. The dessert was great and the manager was fantastic. He suggested we move after we were initially seated close to a loud party of 6. Avoid the bar. I arrived early and ordered a beer. When my date arrived, we could not get service at a not too crowded bar. I asked and waved and had to listen to both bartenders talk about their hair. But no one looked at our direction. After 15 minutes, we left. At that time they finally looked up when we left."

  • "Food was delicious. Even those little breads they give you to start with. I had the octopus salad. Delicious crunchy almost BBQ taste. Everyone else in my group enjoyed their food. Although one friend had the salmon, she liked it but it was a bit too well done and dry in my opinion. Everyone else was very happy. Service is very accommodating and friendly. Wine list is not long but we had no trouble finding something we enjoyed. One of the best things is that there is no rush. We sat for about 4 hours and no one made any hint that we should leave. Very nice spot for getting together with friends. Would also be good for a romantic dinner for two. I've been there 3 times and would definitely go back. With tip $80 pp."

  • "WOW! I was really impressed! Was pleasantly greeted upon arrival- started at the bar with the intent of getting a tbl but the energy was too good to leave. Bar staff was professional and attentive --food was delicious, and we were even checked on by the mgr Greg (?) who gave us great wine suggestions. Also found out that on Mondays they have a great wine deal! Thanks for the attention and great food and drinks!! See you soon!"

  • "Great food but unfortunately bad service and certainly not the kind you would expect in this kind of restaurant. Our servicer knew nothing about the wines offered and took long periods of time to bring them to the table while complaining about the hike down two levels to get them. Also, the proper eating utensils were not offered and then never changed between meals which again was surprising. Eventually the server came back to check on us and ask if we needed anything else, we had to constantly flag them down. Overall, the food and ambiance is great at this place, unfortunately they don't have the service to accompany such prices."
