Casa Nonna - Midtownbest calamariWe.enjoyed all. The flatbreads were terrific, calamari up there with the best we have had. Fish dishes all were very good. Sorbets outstanding.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMNice find - beautifully preparedCasa Nonna was a quick walk from our hotel and the vibrant bar scene made me feel I had chosen well. Staff is attentive but not too. I ordered the Lamb with spring vegetables and my fiance ordered the chicken parm. My lamb was beautifully arranged on the plate and the spring vegetables included, spring onions, a pea puree, and kale. It was simple, elegant and delicious. THe Chicken parm was not your ordinary cutlet covered in sauce and cheese but it was elegantly prepared with what appeared to be a panko breading , topped with a light sauce, thin cheese and a beautifully prepared shredded pasta salad. We also ordered a side dish of spinach full of flavor. This was a great meal in a neighborhood that is mostly pubs, pizza and fast food.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat everything. One ofGreat everything. Will definitely go again.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMImpressive dining in far W. 30'sWe ha a lunch reservation on a very rainy day. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise in a neighborhood where the choices are otherwise uninspiring. Spacious and with an old-style night ambiance, I am sure that in the evening the ambiance is vibrant, but it was perfect for a business lunch. The menu is inviting ranging from elegant salads and pizzas to more traditional entrees. Everything is well-prepared and flavored with good ingredients. The cornish hen was the perfect comfort food to ward off the rainy chill of the day.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a find and not far fromWhat a find and not far from the Garden! The atmosphere was lovely, the service, friendly, attentive and warm. The food was wonderful. Christopher, our server and the person helping him, (sorry I do not remember his name), were great and their menu suggestions, based on our likes, were spot-on. The rooms was spacious and never felt crowded or too loud. I would hapily return to this great restaurant and have already told others about it.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter the hustle and bustleAfter the hustle and bustle of a day in NYC, Casa Nonna is a haven of exceptional food and service where your not right on top of the next table, and you can talk about the day or play without having to strain to hear what everyone is saying.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite neighborhoodOne of my favorite neighborhood finds! We come here often, and will continue to do so!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, reasonable pricingI try something new on the menu almost every time I go there, and I am always happy with my choice. The waitstaff is very attentive and helpful with the menu. Food is always delicious and fresh. It's great food, great atmosphere, great service, and no pretension. Very reasonable pricing for NYC.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLocation is great for theaterLocation is great for theater goers or anyone who has business at the Javits Center. Staff was friendly and quite accommodating. The food was very good and we were never rushed. The restaurant is large and can handle big groups and heavy traffic. Overall a great neighborhood find.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI am surprised this placeI am surprised this place isn't a little bit more crowded on a Saturday night. Have been here twice, the last time the night before a holiday. We would all return just for the bread stuffed with cheese and sprinkled with a sinfully spicy mixture. That and a salad and I would be happy. Presentation, taste, quality, all tops here, and there is a wonderful party room as well. And don't forget the gelati-SO good, so thick you can chew it!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFANTASTIC!AUTHENTIC... The food is great and you can have a lovely conversation with your dinner partner without yelling. It really is a gem!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth a try for differentrestauranI think the food is fantastic and different. Definitely try the two different bruschettas. . Great non-tourist restaurant in a tourist heavy area which is rare in NYC. The only thing I would say about the menu is they need to add a few more basics to the menu for teens. My older teenagers were struggling to find an appetizer and entre that were not too exotic for them. Food portions are right sized, plenty, but not so much that everyone is taking home leftovers. I had a mussles, clams, shrimp & crab over linguine in a red sauce that was heavenly. My teens enjoyed their chicken parm. They bring this cheese stuffed flatbread which is a nice change from Italian bread, it is more of a $$$ rating than the $$ opentable has3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGarment District GemA cavernous surprise in the Garment District. Fabulous menu, especially the sausage offerings. Nice wines by the glass and beautiful surroundings.1/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
