  • "Awesome meal. Wine list is fantastic and really accessible. We were sat a bit late for our reservation ( it happens, it is NYC!) but they sent over a complimentary round of cava and an appetizer. Loved the Patatas Bravas, duck egg, liver toast, pigs ears, artichoke, Brussels sprouts. So delicious."

  • "High quality tapas style dishes. Recommend the razor clams, duck egg with potatoes and the lamb with chocolate sauce. Very good Spanish wine list."

  • "The food was mostly very good. Demerit for the one razor clam that was 1/3 uncooked (runny). Major props for the lamb leg, pork sausage and rabbit dishes. Wine list was interesting and was happy with the bottle we got with helpful assistance from the somm. However in their desire to turn tables faster than any restaurant I've ever been, 1/2 full glasses of wine repeatedly got filled which was both annoying and detrimental to the pleasures of seeing a new (to me) wine evolve in the glass. Great local spot, very tight, good to very good food, pleasant but rushing staff. Wouldn't go out of my way to go back but would be a regular at the bar stools if I lived in the neighborhood. "

  • "Excellent service! Wonderful flavors! Adorable place! It is a bit tight, but not uncomfortable. Worth a try. Will go on my favorites list."

  • "This is my second time to eat at Casa Mono and I enjoyed it again. The razor clams, bacalao croqueta, and skirt steak are good. I dis not enjoy the iberico ham as much on this visit because it was served last, it should be served before the other saucy dishes this way we can savor the meat without palate prejudices. The cava and blood orange cocktail was refreshing, I ordered 3 glasses. I recommend the crema catalan with bay leaves for dessert. Service was good. We would have stayed longer and ordered more dishes and drinks but the hard wooden chairs were hurting my lower back, so we rushed to get out of there. Will be back again to try the other dishes and drinks we missed."

  • "I've been to Casa Mono twice and both times have walked away impressed and satisfyingly full. Each time I have dined here I have eaten ingredients I would not normally order and have been blown away by their preparation and flavor. The staff is very knowledgable and helpful with their extensive wine list and helped us in ordering a wine that complemented all of our dishes. The atmosphere is cozy and perfect for a date! Will look forward to visiting again."

  • "I lived in Spain for 10 years and have never had Pan Con Tomate this good! Great neighborhood spot, delicious dishes, hard to get a table because it's always so busy, but worth trying to get that booking! We were on time but our table wasn't ready so they suggested we have a drink at the bar next door (owned by same people) - Bar Jamon. I'd have preferred to have been seated straight away but the manager of the bar was great, was helpful with the wine choices, and when we'd waited a little while they even brought over a starter free of charge. That's better treatment than a LOT of restaurants in manhattan! My only minor complaint is that it's so tiny that the tables are really pretty squished together."

  • "Since it has been open, Casa Mono has been a fabulous purveyor of Spanish food. Not tapas, per se, but small plates that run the gamut of interesting ingredients and flavors. You could eat at Casa Mono 25 times and never have the same meal twice. Flavors or bold and interesting, but not overwhelming. All-Spanish wine list is comprehensive, and a good selection is available by the quarto, or small carafe. Tables are a little cramped, but that's because it's a small place. If you can, grab a seat at the counter by the open kitchen."

  • "We were a party of three who was seated at a table for two in this very small and cramped restaurant. The hostess would not budge when we inquired about another table. (It was noon and there only two other parties seated at that time.) Our waitress, who overall was good, told us that we 'needed' to order all of our small plates at once rather than start with a few selections and move on from there. We picked the wrong spot for a relaxing, weekend lunch!"

  • "Fantastic and varied menu of tapas. The razor clams, the bone marrow and the goat are standouts. Terrific wine list of Spanish wines."

  • "Best place in New York for grilled razor clams. Wonderful with a sear and garlic olive oil finishing. Always go there as many times I can when in New York. Great for a smack in late afternoon."

  • "I make it a point to fit in a lunch or dinner at Casa Mono whenever I visit NYC and love introducing it to my business friends. The food and service are excellent and the vibe makes you feel like you are a resident of the city."

  • "I rarely provide feedback. Casa Mono has great Spanish food, with a respectable wine list to match. It could have been an enjoyable experience if not for the hostess! She was short, unfriendly, and rude. Not at all what you would expect from someone in a customer service role. There are too many choices in NYC to be subjected to a teenage like attitude from the person who sets the tone for your dining experience."

  • "Casa Mono is a must for me whenever I go to NYC and my favorite Batali restaurant. I'm a fan of small plates, casual vibes, and Spanish wines, so this place is right in my sweet spot. The food is always excellent, the service is always friendly and attentive. Makes me think I need to make the trip back more often..."

  • "I liked everything about this place. It's a good vibe, professional service, good wine selection at reasonable prices, great menu. If only I hadn't order the sardines…and I love sardines. They were, well, chewy. Ah, I can overlook one dish one time. I'll be back."

  • "The food was good, although it's a tiny place so you do feel cramped the entire time. The biggest complaint was the dessert...our waitress recommended the chocolate dessert and made it sound fantastic...what did she bring out? a plate that had a smear of nuttela, a smear of something else and a friend banana. That does not qualify as even a half decent dessert, especially for the price!!! The goat is funny tasting and would not recommend it. The rest of the food was good, especially their mushrooms, bread with tomato, and potatoes."

  • "The food features combinations of ingredients that range from those that work well to, in some cases, are spectacular. If in doubt, the staff is very good about describing things on the menu. Even if you order at random, you are sure to have a few unbelievably good choices. The liver and pate offerings are always a safe bet....in this case 'safe' means certain to be spectacular. The wine list is extensive with a broad range of prices and varietals from various regions of spain. The one down-side, especially for large and/or tall people....the tables are small and without much legroom. Overall an excellent choice for an informal, but noteworthy meal."

  • "Everything we ordered was very good. The place is a bit squeezed and the wine service could be better - as usual in NYC the red wine was served at room temperature, a basic mistake. Apart from that the food was good enough to justify a future return. Recommended."

  • "I've been several times. The menu, which changes seasonally, is always exciting. Casa Mono is on my personal top five favorite restaurant list."

  • "It was impossible to relax and celebrate my husband's birthday with our two adult children because of the rude and disruptive service we received from the moment we arrived until we left. We had made reservations well in advance and we had indicated that this was to be a birthday dinner. The food was delicious with the exception of the way too salty oxtail stuffed piquillo peppers."

  • "The food is really tasty and the menu is always original and innovative. Wine pairings are also nice."

  • "If you like small plates cooked very well with imagination Cafe Mono is for you. If you get carried away can be expensive. If you watch what you order it is great."

  • "As a serious sucker for tapas and Spanish food, I came into here with high expectations. The place did not disappoint. There are so many unique interesting combos and delicious foods. Add on the incredibly comprehensive wine lists and highly knowledgeable waiters with knowledge of all the dishes, they helped pick out all the tapas that hit the right spot. I highly enjoyed my time here and would gladly do it again."

  • "The food was delicious as always. I was surprised to see they use the same menu for brunch that they do all day. I wish they had some more traditional brunch options."

  • "So we show up for a table for 2 Sunday at noon to find that of the 8 window tables (which we prefer) only 3 are taken. We ask for anyone of the other 5 and are told, it won't work with their seating plans for the day ! After much back and forthing between us and the maitre de (who in no way apologizes even though we have a reservation) she takes a cold ,silent stand implying we sit in the middle of the room or just leave. We sat in the middle of the room……5 minutes later (maybe 7 ?) she seats another pair of patrons at one of those tables and when we leave one hour later two tables were still empty !! …..but no….she'd made her point ! Cold, unprofessional, unnecessarily rude treatment ."

  • "Some of the dishes where very good and delicate, But the very rude service ruined over experience!!! We hat a reservation at 5pm and when the two of us arrived to minutes to five the hostess said that we could not be seated before the three others arrived... It was the first seeting and our table was free - made ABSOLUTLY NO SENSE. When we had to pay the waiter came and said that we HAD to give more tips.. A lady came and through our coats at us and said: normaly in nyc you tip for the coat before we had the change to catch the coats. It may not seem that bad but the very rude and demanding it style combined with absolutly no sense of service or kindness overshadowed the good food Ps the skirt steake and chicken liver was good"

  • "Casa Mono was a great restaurant for a couple, whether you are friends or on a first date or special occasion, the cozy restaurant appeals to all. The food was phenomenal, small sharing plates although slightly bigger than other tapas restaurants. The wine list was huge, although didn't have too many reasonable bottles. I wouldn't recommend for groups, and certainly go with a reservation. The pork croquettes and the chocolate salted ganache were both standouts."

  • "As usual, Casa Mono was completely perfect. Great and unexpected dishes, the absolute perfect wine pairing, and fabulous service."

  • "We had to wait an extra half hour for reservations. The waiter took forever to take our order. At least 2 dishes were never delivered to our table. When the reservations were made I said we were celebrating a birthday which was never noted. And, one of your chefs was texting on his phone will preparing and never walked his hands. We watched him do this for a few minutes. Needless to say none of the 6 people on our group ever plan on returning."

  • "Creative and varied tapas, better than I've had in Barcelona and San Sebastien. The razor clams are amazing, also mushroooms, goat, artichokes, etc. Large Spanish wine list with something for everyone. Service was fast and knowledgeable, with the waiter recommending an excellent and affordable wine, when asked."

  • "While the food was tasty, the portions served for RW lunch were a complete joke. Usually RW lunch is too much food, 3 courses, dessert, etc. Us three girls left hungry. Also, they crammed our three top at the smallest table ever, even though it was the very end of lunch service. I guess since the plates of food were so small, we didn't have too many issues, but they had to remove our small bread plates to start serving food. Highly do not recommend this place for RW lunch. My previous experience at dinner was better."

  • "I took a few of my colleagues (wine lovers) over to this place. Being there a several times, I love this place and was confident that the place will be good for them as well. Our first disappointment: They asked us to order all food and drinks upfront. We were surprised that we had to plan out our bottles (we wanted to start out with white and then go for reds afterwards) and tapas dishes. It took us a couple of inquiries and about half an hour before we settled on all of our dishes and drinks. Second Disappointment: Razor clam was one of my favorite dish there, but this night, it was awfully fishy... and didn't pair with wine. I'm now wondering if this dish was ill prepared or the clam was bad."

  • "It was my first experience at the Restaurant Weekend and at this restaurant. We booked at 4PM because my husband and a friend had to work in the morning and there wasn't any other hour available before that. When we sat at the table we were told that the special restaurant week menu wasn't available anymore, only until 3:30PM. First question is where can the customer read this information? Obviously we weren't aware of it. We are from Spain and miss fabada. This course was offered in the special menu but not in the usual one. We asked for fabada, just in case, but there was no possibility of having it. We ended up paying more than double the restaurant week menu and not enjoying the meal at all. We felt rip-off."

  • "Really good food. There seemed to be a hiccup with the service, in that we were seated and asked about our water preference....and then sat there for 10 minutes. I had to ask the hostess to bring water and then ask if we actually had a waiter assigned to us. But once we got a waiter, the service was friendly and efficient. The food was very, very good. Really solid on both traditional tapas and imaginative dishes. Highly recommend."
