Food was average. Service was slow and waitresses had that "couldn't be bothered" attitude. Not the cleanest place either. The water was warm and tasted funky.

Thinking we would just have some good Mexican eats, we were asked if we wanted to eat upstairs where there was Jazz Brunch! The three piece group was great, and the brunch menu was perfect. The food was fresh and homemade, very authentic, some of the best sauces we have ever had. Mimosas were included , pieces were very reasonable, can't wait to go back!

My husband and I had a terrific jazz brunch. The room is a charming second floor setting with a wall of windows. Food was solid brunch fare with a Latin flair. Taryn Korn's Trio regaled us with wonderful, innovative renderings of great standards. Don't miss it. We're going back.

Great food, terrible service!! Only one waitress for the entire restaurant. We had to wait 15 min to place an order and 20 min for our first drink. Our appetizer came out before drinks. If they hire more wait staff this would be an amazing place

Went and had a Gilt Brunch and thought the place and food was very good! Ambience was nice, the decor felt authentic without going overboard. Only checked out the restaurant area, but I know it's a 3-floor multipurpose space, so I'm sure it's cool to check out the night happenings.

I had gotten a Groupon for brunch for two at $29.00 This price included two drinks for each person as well. The specialty Groupon brunch menu was very wide and the drink selection was outstanding. The restaurant is very beautiful with plenty of conversation pieces. There was an incident where the credit card machine was down and I was overcharged but that is hardly the issue of the restaurant.

A lively spot downtown, since it was during the World Cup. We ordered 3 sets of tacos, shrimp, which was absolutely delicious, steak and fish - which were good. Shrimp was juicy and soft, not at all overcooked. The fish tacos were tasty but a bit dry, and breaded (I just prefer fish un-breaded.) Steak tacos were also a bit dry but had good flavor. We remedied it with a squeeze of lime and some salsa and guac. Had some great happy hour margaritas, which were inventive and flavorful. Our server was wonderful, very helpful and accomodating. All in all, a very good value. We'd definitely stop in again to try the other dishes.

I had purchased on gilt city as I have brought many in the past .this place looked interesting and I usually don't go to this area so I thought it would be fun & different. After reading reviews , I specifically asked not to sit upstairs. We arrives to a happening, jam packed very small dining area. The crowd looked very young and the bar was very crowded. The hostess showed us to our table that was out the restaurant and up 2 flights to which looked like to be an unfurnished ,un decorated apartment with mixed matched tables & chairs. Really??? We had a sepeeate gilt city menu which was very very limited. The food was ok and the drinks were weak. Our waitress was a doll and very friendly and accommodating. This voucher was very disapointing

Manager, brought the check before we were Able to get another round of drinks or dessert. Water never refilled either. When I addressed the issue he offered a discount reiterating that if he needed our table he will come and get us out of there personally. Not the expected friendly Mexican service. Disappointed since other staff like Martin or other waiters know better than treating customers like this. Unacceptable.

We had the most amazing happy hour margaritas -- some of the best in the city. Plus, as we got to know our waitress Marlene better she helped us get custom cocktails from the mixologist. The drinks are really phenomenal. We ordered chips and guac plus the chile relleno -- everything was excellent. We hope to return several times and become regulars! :)

Sunday brunch is delicious and unusual - not your usual dumbed-down Mexican cliches. We had the huitlacoche and goat cheese omelet and the huevos rancheros with mole. Tasty and well-prepared. Service was friendly and not intrusive. And the music! Tamar Korn sings swing/jazz/blues classics and more obscure songs of the first half of the 20th century, accompanied by excellent musicians. The scene is energetic, friendly and just great.

The downstairs was energetic, great interior, and a good crowd. For some reason, the hostess took us upstairs...where there was absolutely no atmosphere, was boring, and had bad lighting. The hostess 'had to check'. I found that annoying, because there was plenty of space downstairs, and finally, the other hostess found us an awesome little table in the corner near the cooks -- it was great! We ordered the chips/guacamole. For the price, it was excellent, because you also got 2 sauces! However, the chips appeared store-bought, and were quite stale. The alcarbon tacos were dry, and the carnitas burrito was just okay. While the food was unremarkable, the mezcal margaritas were absolutely amazing. Would go back for mezcal.

Went for a gilt city promo, and they gave us an abbreviated menu that had only 1 meat item, 1 fish item and 1 veggie option (it was not a groupon, and it did not state when purchased that we would not have access to the full menu). Also, they were supposed to allow us 2 specialty cocktails each, but when we arrived, they told us that we could only have margaritas and none of the other drink options. In addition to all of this silliness, they were training a new waiter on us. Although on a normal occasion the restaurant seemed like it would have great food and good ambiance, I will not return just based on how I felt like a second class citizen on my first occasion there.

Went here for dinner on a Friday night. We ate upstairs, which was filled with a couple of large, noisy groups. Also, the room was really bright which detracted from the ambience. Food and drinks were good but nothing memorable. The service staff seemed overwhelmed and it took a long time to bring our food and even the check. Finally, I noticed the restsurant had a nearly hidden C health code rating by NYC in the far left upper corner of the front window. I would not go here again and wouldn't recommend it until that C rating gets changed to an A. http://a816-restaurantinspection.nyc.gov/RestaurantInspection/SearchDetails.do

The decor is perfect; not kitschy but informal. The margaritas with tajin rims are my latest obsession- so much so, I ordered a case of Tajin from Amazon! Even if your margarita flavor is rimmed with something else, ask for tajin. And get the tacos de cazuela. Everything we ordered was amazing- wish they had ceviche every day, though. If they have it on the specials board, definitely order it. They also have a great private room/art space upstairs from the restaurant. Really great spot on a cute street. This is my new favorite restaurant.

My friend and I went here on a Gilt City brunch voucher, and completely fell in love. The classic margaritas tasted just like they did when we were in Mexico- strong and tart. And the huevos rancheros were so incredibly authentic. As if it couldn't get better- the tres leches cake was mouth-watering! One of the most important elements to me- atmosphere- did not disappoint. I felt like I wasn't in NYC, I felt like I was in some fabulous restaurant in Puerto Vallarta. It was moody and intimate and quiet, and the decor is eclectic and beautiful. Love, love, loved it!

Came here for brunch with friends visiting. The waitress asked for our drinks. We told her waters and sangria pitchers and my friend asked for a glass because hers was very dirty. The waitress left and 10 min later returned with a pitcher of water but no glass. My friend asked again for a glass. About 10 min later, the waitress returned with a glass and took our orders. Once sangria came, we asked for a refill on water. After waiting for at least 15 min, I got up and went to the bar myself with the empty pitcher to get it refilled. This was only the beginning. After this the waitress not only made fun of me for asking what each of the three salsas were but ignored my friend and rolled her eyes when he asked about fun things to do in NYC.

I got the Gilt deal for brunch for two. Chips and guac were good- nothing out of the ordinary though. Brunch was okay... Again, nothing super special. I got the cactus scramble that also came with rice and beans and some tortillas. Don't think I'd get it again, but I ate the whole thing. The tres leches dessert was actually really delicious and the margaritas and bloody marys were also good. Overall, the ambiance made this place worthwhile-- cute little spot, and quiet enough to go with a date and spend some good time comfortably talking in their booths. Good experience, but wouldn't necessarily return for the food.

Place is very good. Great staff...no reason for restaurant to charge for sour cream when ordering tacos...would you charge for ketchup when ordering French fries? Almost every place has sour cream as a standard with nachos or tacos or burritos this place charges $1. Found that to be strange but it's a great place and worth going to.

The food was actually good but it could have been better if the dish would have arrived with all the ingredients that it was supposed to have and we have asked for (demerit), so we have to wait for that. The service could be much more on point, I'm not want who likes to be smothered but I found myself looking around for my server to get things from him and the place was not that busy (demerit). Would I eat there again: yes, they just need to get it together. Buen provecho!
