Diner Reviews
  • "Other than the wine, my meal was very disappointing - scallop appetizer was cold, the cod was tasteless (the potatoes too). My friend barely touched her caprese salad and her salmon dish was bland and cold. I would not recommend this restaurant."

  • "Too pricey for what you are getting. The service is good, but the noise volume is too loud, the acoustics do not help. Wine list starts too high. It is hard to enjoy a meal once you get the check of such size."

  • "Great food and service. Fun atmosphere, but a little load."

  • "This is fast becoming our go to restaurant in New York. The food is just like being in Italy. You must try the Vitello Tonatto with it's perfect balance of flavors. The service is warm, friendly and spot on. Bravo"

  • "Fantastic new dishes on the menu - duck and lamb are to die for and so is their new Heritage Green Cycle chicken entrée! Amazing wines wonderfully paired by sommelier, charm and smiles all around dining room that spread happiness and satisfaction. Will be back for sure!"

  • "I can't say enough great things about Casa Lever. It's perfect in every way, starting with Adil at reception. Extremely professional and welcoming. Food is delicious. Service impeccable. Most beautiful room in NYC."

  • "I've eaten at Casa Lever three times in the past 12 months (I live in Seattle). The first meal was charming, food was great, wine selections awesome. We ate there again about 6 months ago, and the service and food had slipped. This time, the service was inattentive and the food was just OK -- and the word must be getting around that their quality has fallen because only a third of the tables were taken on a Saturday night from 7:00 PM until we left at 8:30 PM. The space remains lovely -- especially with all the Andy Warhol portraits. But CL needs to put a General Manager in charge and hire a new chef and regain a sense of urgency and focus!"

  • "I had a strange meal at Casa Lever on Wednesday. The food was great. There is a beautiful menu and the specials were even better. I had a great asparagus appetizer and the pasta of the day. My meal was almost spoiled by slow and peculiar service. After my entree was served my waiter never returned. At one point two diners, the hostess, and a server, who patiently stood with the diners drinks on a tray, stood between my table and the next one. One of the diners butt was inches from my face. After about 5 minutes they all left only to return 10 minutes later. My dessert never arrived (I had ordered a mousse from a passing maitre'd) Finally paid at hostess station where I was comped my dessert "to go""

  • "Great midtown location for business lunch. Excellent food and service, able to converse without feeling obtrusive. "

  • "We had dinner for four on a Thursday night. Food was very fresh and delicious. Had a variety of appetizers including caprese and beet salads, pasta, soup. All were quite good. We especially liked the Dover sole and Cod fish selections. For dessert, we had the gianduia milk chocolate and hazelnut crunch and a sponge cake choice which were also wonderful. Nice wine list and good atmosphere with vaulted ceilings and Warhol images along the walls. Would definitely return. "

  • "A solid midtown resto with a vibrant bar scene (outside) and fine dining inside. Very much a happening place and which everyone in our group commented on being very "New York" in terms of style. "

  • "Continues to be the best Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. Creative menu and a great wine list."

  • "Wine over priced. Menu limited...boring even. Same for desserts. I mean ..really?..for this price?? After dinner coffee..black..was cold. Are you kidding? Wow..what a waste."

  • "This place is beautiful and definitely worth a visit, but the prices are a bit steep. Cocktails were delicious, and the wine list was extensive. Definitely caters to the week day business crowd, which is too bad. If this place were 30 blocks south, on a Saturday night, it would have been packed (when we went, it was half full)."

  • "Great 1960-70 decor , architecture , Art and feelings Food and service are outstanding Power place to go for lunch and romantic for dinner !"
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "While service remains outstanding and responsive, the kitchen continues to underperform and, considering the prices, that's just unacceptable. Example, a side of something called "crispy potatoes" arrives as cut fingerlings covered in the cooking liquid in which they were sautéed and bearing no resemblance to anything "crispy." The rest of the food at our table was desultory at best. Were the food the equal of the decor and the service, Casa Lever would be at the top of the list rather than a place of expensive mediocrity."

  • "Casa Lever is clearly an energetic, finance heavy meeting / dining spot. Food is always good, expensive and if you aren't seated on the east wall of the restaurant, very conversation friendly."
    Dined on 4/3/2014
  • "While the food was good and the service correct, the restaurant was a disappointment. The fish dishes, halibut, were correct; but some of the vegetables were actually cold -- uneven temperature. The rabbit dish was reportedly excellent. Service came with an attitude, correct but filled with attitude. The noise level was high enough to interfere with conversation. The most startling was the wine menu; while varied and of quality, was ---- for a California used to high quality American and European wines ---- considerably overpriced. Despite its New York success, we wondered whether the restaurant would survive in San Francisco."

  • "overall the food was a little expensive for what it was."

  • "We had the most fantastic brunch at Casa Lever on Saturday. Food was phenomenal, service personable and attentive and the soft beats and singing of the Cuban Band the perfect addition to the atmosphere. We will be back next week!"

  • "Great food surrounded by Andy Warhol originals with an historical location. The Lever skyscraper was the first to be built with glass and concrete in 1951."

  • "I think you can have an excellent meal in New York with the same great service and atmosphere for half the price. Good for them if they can attract and retain the business. I would like to see a wine list with many more bottles under $100. It feels like it starts at $100 and most of the bottles are in the $200 to $400 range. I was steered towards a 2004 Barolo for $235 - which I really enjoyed - but felt just took me over what I really wanted to spend."

  • "We occasionally had a dinner for family and friends gathering. Always have a nice time with food, wine selection in artistic atmosphere. They give a private banquette seats if you request. It would be nice if they add more seasonal menu."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed our dinner last Saturday. The staff was cordial and helpful with regard to the menu. The presentation of the food was nice Portions were a good size. The bread was delicious. Wine list was great We found parking right outside on the street - big plus. We will definitely be back."

  • "Amazing food, environment and service. So far my best steak experience even though it is not a steak house. Brought in a cake for my husband which was bought somewhere else but they did not charge us for the service fee for the cake. "

  • "opens early, at 7, so perfect for the early breakfast start. Very quiet and service is attentive. Food choices excellent for this sort of thing. Staff is very pleasant and so no reason not to go"

  • "My sister and I come here every time we are in town and we are never disappointed. The food is amazing and the service is impeccable. The chicken was outstanding and the rigatoni was unbelievable. Thank you for always making our evening memorable."

  • "Fantastic ambiance among the Andy Warhol pieces of art. The architecture is stunning. The food very good. The only thing that we didn't like was the noise level - but I guess this is almost everywhere in New York City the same, it's everywhere too loud. It was our third time in the Casa Lever over the last five years - we always enjoyed!"

  • "Nice, i had a good time, and it's a very attractive space. But I found the food to be not very special, given that prices were on the high side. Quite good, and it was all very nicely presented. But to me, nothing particularly flavorful. I had a good time but I wouldn't see any particular reason to go back."

  • "When I entered the Casa lever I was very moved. The restaurant is one of the most beautiful and elegant places I've ever been to. It will make it a priority on my next trip to new York."

  • "Chose Casa Lever as it was close to a business meeting/appointment. Must have been at least 8 years since my last visit and it was actually much better than I remember (of course, back then it was Lever House). Wasn't super expensive and food was awesome. Service was outstanding."

  • "Early morning meeting--excellent place to meet and talk. It is expensive, and it seems that an expense account is assumed. But if atmosphere is a consideration, this is a very good choice."

  • "I was there with clients and i must say that the noise level was very high. we could barely hear each other. the food was very good and the service efficient rather than friendly. the is fairly expensive but the location and the quality of foods can explain this."

  • "Right in the middle of hedge fund ground zero, this isn't the place for titan sighting but the front line guys who get it done. Loud, quick, great portions, good food and a sure hit every time. It is best for table of more than two or to be a regular, the generic two tops are lined up like bmws in a park avenue parking garage."
