Diner Reviews
  • "We went for a birthday dinner and were very pleased by the entrance and ambience. We were a party of 10 and were waiting on our table. When we went to the host to check on our table, he proceeded to herd us to the bar all while shouting and and being rude. He did not even say how long it will take for the table to to be ready. The other hostess looked angry when we said we did not want to do the prix fixe.Once finally seated, the waitress came to the group and had to shout for the entire table to hear her and recommended we get the prix fix 4-5 times. Then a belly dancer came along and the music got loud and made it hard to talk. The ambience and the food was really good. The staff was not. Ok for a drink, not for special occassion."

  • "Super friendly and helpful staff to make the reservation for my cousin's bachelorette! Server had awesome suggestions for dinner and the host staff made us feel right at home. Wonderful and energetic environment, with awesome belly dancers! Truly enjoyed our time here and it was a night we will never forget!!!"

  • "We had comfortable seats and we were lucky to be there when the belly dancer was performing. She was very nice , friendly and involved us in her little dance moves. The ambience is nice. They actually have real grass as the flooring which I thought was pretty cool. The waiter was very polite, gave us a lot of options. The food was delicious though little pricey. I would recommend it for a special occasion. The bar area was also pretty decent. Overall a good experience."

  • "The actual restaurant portion was closed on a Friday night, very disappointed we had to dine in the bar room."

  • "I needed a cozy romantic restaurant with good food and my friend recommended this place. It was fantastic! My expectations were met. The waitress was so helpful and attentive. The host and the manager came over to our table to wish us happy anniversary! That was so sweet. I had the prix fixe menu and sat under a tent, it was so private and intimate. We had the lamb for dinner and it was delicious. I love their hummus dips and you can try the crab/shrimp cake - was my favorite appetizer. I really do not have any negatives about my experience. It is definitely a spot to try and my hubby and I will be back with some friends!"

  • "Absolutely incredible restaurant. The ambiance is fantastic; very trendy...all ages. We came to the restaurant earlier to have drinks in the lounge (comfy couches and grass floors!) and stayed later to smoke some hookah and finish another bottle of wine. The food was amazing! Everyone LOVED their dishes...make sure to start with a sampling of appetizers...you can't go wrong with any of them! The belly dancer added lots of excitement to the meal! The guys especially enjoyed it...lol. Overall experience was perfect! Definitely my new favorite place in the city."

  • "The food was delicious, the service was top notch, and the ambiance was intriguing with grass floors and middle eastern decorations."

  • "Very romantic and great food. Drinks are well made. The service is a tad bit slow and several water refills or drink requests had to be requested several times."

  • "In addition to everything else like food, ambience and service the belly dance was fantastic. Valerie is a talented belly dancer!!"

  • "Egyptian food; that alone was enough to sell me. Upon arriving, I saw a grass floor(!) and knew I had made a unique, if not good, choice. After getting my food and being entertained by the belly dancer working there, I was thoroughly enjoying every aspect of the restaurant! Absolutely amazing and I will definitely be going back. (Note, though, it was pricey at ~$100/person after a drink and side dish and tip were added.)"

  • "This place is a great find...its has a great front bar area with seating...great place to watch the World Cup! The back room tables and banquettes are gorgeous and the architecture and ambiance feel like you are indeed in the Middle East. The food was varied and very tasty..I had the kofte and caramelized rice and for dessert the kataifi was delicious..I want to come back and try the $60 menu which is a great sampling of Egyptian food.."

  • "The only issue was that we waited a long time between meals. The drinks are super super expensive. No need for that! Our bill was 535 dollars for six of us. And it was an abundance of food. Also we left the waiter 90 buck tip and he kind of brushed us off at the end."

  • "We had a wonderful evening in this exotically decorated Egyptian gem. Small couches low to the floor, hanging draperies, elegant banquettes, a floor of grass, all made this place quite unique. The service was excellent - a lot of attention from staff. Had 2 glasses of Sicilian wine for $10 per glass that was excellent and very generous in the pour. Lovely selection of appetizers. Nice place to go for drinks and appetizers/small plates "

  • "I've been to Casa La Femme on several occasions and it's one of my favorite places in the city. The Environment is like no other. Service impeccable. Food and cocktails delicious. There's nothing else around quite like it. And did I mention how romantic it is??? :)"

  • "Great food, great ambience, but possibly the slowest service I have ever had. We almost had to serve ourselves."

  • "Booking a tented booth requires you to use a fixed price menu for a 4-course meal ($60). The whole operation is designed to extract $$ from you. You're first expected to sit at the bar and order cocktails, dinner takes forever to come, the food really isn't very good, the music is loud, esp when the in-your-face belly dancer comes on. We left feeling ripped off and quite disappointed. It's a shame because the visual design of the space is beautiful. This place could be so much better."

  • "Had a reservation for 9:30 yet did not get seated until almost 11. Food was overpriced and not good. Ambiance is cool but the belly dancers really make it weird. Go elsewhere. "

  • "I took my Specialfriend to Casa La Femme on a Tuesday night for her birthday. It was awesome with the tent table, it wasnt crowded and the best part we had great service. The food was delicious and the portion was sufficient. Good exotic drinks, the belly dancer was amazing which she dance with my Specialfriend. It was a perfect evening, she was very surprise and happy. We'll diffently go back on a busier night to experience it with more people and the belly dancers."

  • "Came here as recommended by a friend and I definitely did not leave disappointed. The food was good but way over priced. 3 drinks = $60 way overpriced. Entrees don't come with sides and all cost over $30. I'm glad I went and would return but maybe just during happy hour."

  • "Went to the restaurant with a group of 8. Server told us that they don't have cocktails (lie) and that we had to order from the prize fixed menu (lie). Not a good way to start off the evening. The food was fair - portions were tiny and the prawns were awful. Very pretty restaurant and cool ambience. Won't go back because battling with the server was just not expected or worth it."

  • "A nice place and different from the mundane. But the service was horrible, we ended with 5 different servers. saw my original server 3 times, i was going to order more drinks but didn't get the opportunity to. Other than that, the food was good, the entertainment was good and the environment was great. oh, and don't try and call for a reservation, they will tell you it is full but online there are always tables."

  • "Great food, ambience and the belly dancer is an added bonus. The cocktail menu was a little limited and the portions of food small. However, this is a must do experience and perfect if you want to be with that special someone on a date."

  • "We booked a tent on a Saturday night. They sat us 1 hour later in a tent that was on a hallway in the bar, not in the dining area. 2 of us were seated in small chairs so you have to be with your arms up all the time to be able to eat! We couldn't see the show because we where at the bar and the 2 friends seated in the chairs were bothered during the whole dinner by the people that were in an out the bar. The waiter was trying to pleased us to forget about the wait and the table we got. He gave us tequila shots witch was a nice gesture. They took their time to take the order, bring the food and the check so the diner extended to 3.5 hours! INSANE If you are looking for a good dining experience please don't go there."

  • "The space is incredible. The decor is so beautiful. It possesses true Moroccan decorum and feel. It felt very warm and inviting. The staff was very genuine and helpful. The food was delicious. We really enjoyed the moussaka dish, which was incredible. Our server was super sweet and adorable. She took our pictures and gave helpful tips. We will definitely return again. My birthday dinner was a special experience."

  • "The place was very romantic. The $60 fix price was just okay, though. Portions were on the smaller side. Dessert was super small. I'd pay $45 for what I got. Overall, you are paying for the experience (belly dancers, tent, décor)."

  • "This was the worst dining experience of my life. When we got there we were ignored as the "manager" and bartender were Busy yelling at each other. Once we finally sat down to dinner, the menu for two actually consisted of just barely enough food for one person of mediocre quality and at twice the price. On top of that we are continuously ignored throughout the night except by one waitress and it took forever to get our food. And at the end of the night they gave us a dessert tray which consisted of one slice of cake for two people. We were very surprised that after all of that we got our bill only to find out they had surcharged us $75 for the terrible service. Do not come here this is a huge waste of money you will regret it."

  • "I took my husband here for his 36th birthday. I came here last sumner for a private bridal shower event. The food was delicious and I enjoyed the ambiance. My husband and I are very low key and don't go out that much because we have two small children. Hubby enjoyed it all. It was a good way to spend our evening out we ended up spending $200 which included the tip. By the way there is a nearby parking garage which made life so easy!!!"

  • "After not having been for 3 years I decided I wanted to have my intimate birthday dinner there - I just remembered the vibrant Moroccan decor. The food (and service) were incredible. Definitely try the lambchops! I want to go back every day, and I live in the west village where there are amazing restaurants on every block."

  • "Like most Middle Eastern restaurants in New York, Casa La Femme tries to hard to be different, hip, and cool and forgets to focus on the basics. As a result, the experience is mediocre at best. The place is well decorated, but the music is too loud. The wait staff speaks no Arabic, which makes ordering very difficult since the whole menu is in Arabic. This was very frustrating and it did lead to the waitress messing up my order. The food is good, but the portions are small and everything was too spicy (Egyptian food is not spicy). For the amount of food we got, the roughly $60 a person price is a rip off (no alcohol). There was a belly dancer. She was actually quite good by my standards. It was okay, but I'm not going back."
