Casa di Amici RestaurantReally enjoyed it!Excellent dinner. The four of us each had a different entree and each was superb! Very creative dishes. Mai Tai was good but not exceptional. Wine list is very good. The Baked Hawaii dessert is amazing!
Friendly helpful staff. Owner came around to chat and was exceptionally gracious and pleasant. Nice setting with porch seating open to the air. They should advertise more, because I think many visitors to Poipu are unaware of this wonderful restaurant off the main roads.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat owner made the eveningNice spot near Poipu beach - food was good, the owner was great. Made us feel so welcome! Would have liked a little bigger choice in fresh seafood but we all did enjoy the evening.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNice, quiet, out of the wayNice, quiet, out of the way spot. Not on the main drag, so you have to be looking for it. Definitely worth finding.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLots to choose from! This restaurant had an extensive menu with many options to choose from! The food was fresh and delicious and the service was very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWe will be back!We come back to Kauai each year and each year we say we will return to Casa di Amici - where we had NOT been since it moved more than 10 years ago from the north shore. We were so glad that we finally made it here in Poipu.. The service was attentive and friendly and the food was just delicious. You have to try one of the pastas in the cognac sauce - as the sauce is just wonderful. Bring a heftly appetite - portions are large - fish is fresh - all in all a wonderful evening.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMcross culture tasteThe food was very good but heavily seasoned so be prepared for a very cross culture taste. The paella had a surprising curry taste so one has to adjust psychologically if one is expecting the traditional Spanish Paella taste - not bad, just different.
Also, the food was very "rich" - The red wine (Cab.) recommended by the Sommelier/Host was excellent and the pouring was extremely generous. All of the portions were VERY generous. All in all it was a pleasant evening.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTiming was a little rushed,Timing was a little rushed, but they responded when I complained. We don't usually have dessert, but we decided on the Baked Hawaii which was outstanding.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFirendly service staff, great foodThe staff was very friendly and offered great recommendations on the menu. The food was excellent.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden gem...On Saturday evening there is a piano player tinkling in the background...The food is superb. This place is a local favorite that does not need to advertise. I strongly suggest reservations.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNice easy going Italian foodNice easy going Italian food with international twists.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLocated in a residential area.Located in a residential area. Food is excellent and eclectic. Service is superb. Decent wine list but you can buy great wines at the Koloa Wine Shop and they have a deal with Casa Di Amici that they wave the corkage if you buy at the Wine shop. Great local restaurant!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMReally creative things onReally creative things on the menu; difficult to pick just two for dinner4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a favorite place everyThis is a favorite place every year on the island. Great food and atmosphere. Love the service.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWell worth a visit. Our onlyWell worth a visit. Our only complaint was that got a call asking to move up our dinner reservation from 8:30 to 8:00, which was OK, thinking that they had over-booked the 8:30 time slot, but when we got there, it seemed pretty obvious that the change was motivated by the staff's desire to leave earlier. That's not a professional reason to change a reservation time.
Having said that, the dinner was fine.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Night out at Casa Di AmiciWe were a party of four adults and three teenager girls. Everyone enjoyed their meals. My daughter and I shared a delicious organic green salad. The dressing was perfect. We then shared an eggplant dish that was good, but the dish to get that night was either the ahi tuna special or the paella. Both of those dishes looked fantastic and tasted terrific.
Make sure you know where you are going, as it is a little bit hidden off the main road.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous restaurant. This is one of our favorite restaurants when we get lucky enough to visit Kauai. It never disappoints and we are a picky group.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden GemGreat restaurant worth visiting. Wine list had reasonable prices and great selection. Best in Kauai.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOur dinner was outstanding,Our dinner was outstanding, aside from the 30 minute delay for being seated. Although we had reservations, we had to wait at the bar until seated, ostensibly because "the kitchen was backed up from a 'Spring Break' crowd." However, those with reservations should have preferential treatment, and not have to wait 30 minutes to be seated.
Now to the dinner. We tried something old (veal marsala)and something new (pork saltambucol). Both were superb, each with a fantastic unique sauce, and each included 3 very tasty small side dishes to compement the entrees. Our appetizer was local tomatoes with onions, pesto and melted mozarella, a pleasant surprise. Our desert was Bananas Foster, and was "to die for." Our complements to the chef and sta3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best meals we hadOne of the best meals we had on our 8 day Kauai vacation. Had 8 people, were well taken care of, food wonderful. Been coming here for years, and never disappointed. Much better food and value than Beach House or Roy's nearby.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find for DinnerGreat time for all 6 of us! The Veal Piccata, Duck Confit and the must have Calamari were all wonderful.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh approach to food inFresh approach to food in a neighborhood setting.
