Casa del BarcoDrinks are excellent. TheDrinks are excellent. The food is very good. Our server Kevin was terrific. Very attentive and friendly. Love the location of the place along the canal. It's a great option for in town dining.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousWhat a wonderful dining experience! The atmosphere is interesting, the food excellent, and the service on point! Run don't walk to dinner.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSO good!!Loved it - again! Shared the crab guacamole and could lick the bowl every time. Then ordered the duck enchiladas. MUCH better than the duck tacos. Plenty of meat, delish verde without being overpowering. Comes with beans and rice, both of which were tasty as well. Usually rice is dry and flavorless when accompanying a Mexican entree. Not here. Their attention to detail is GREAT!6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent! The food is amazing, service is fast and courteous (ask for Taylor, he was attentive and knowledgeable!) Fabulous tequila options.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMTmg11We ate outside and it was a perfect setting by the canal. Server attentive and well-versed on menu. Drink list fun & food excellent. Loved it!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect end of the day! After enjoying a day at Tredegar and Belle Island Casa del Barco was a great way to end our day!!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFine Outdoor Dining, Mexican Style! Finally found a restaurant with outdoor seating that has a view of something other than parked cars! Wonderful Mexican food similar to a nice restaurant in Mexico or Southwest US. Huge selection of tequilas and beers and a nice variety of wines. Only one rum drink, but the Kracken mojito was rico! We shared the crab guacamole and 2 different empanadas -- roasted pork and shrimp. For the main courses we had the seafood enchiladas, the fish tacos, the slow roasted pork, a side order of the corn bean and squash stew, and the pescado del dia which was trout. All were fabulous! Don't miss the fried ice cream and the flan. We will definitely return to try the ceviche. Food delivery was a bit slow, but our server was great.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe House BoatCasa Barco means houseboat and is set on the Richmond canal walk. I hadn't been down there in years and while it is not yet the San Antonio Riverwalk, it has improved a lot over the last 10 years. And Casa Barco is a great start. Since it is a Mexican restaurant, they do not have an extensive wine list, but instead they have an extensive tequila list with many extra Anejo selections. If you have never tried an extra Anejo tequila, then you need to. It is not your college tequila. These tequilas are close to fine cognacs and many people would have a hard time even recognizing them as tequilas. The food is clearly a step above from the normal Mexican fare in Richmond.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious upscale MexicanDelicious upscale Mexican cuisine. Unique menu offerings, the roasted duck enchiladas were fabulous! The fried plantains oh my, so good!!! Great service and atmosphere we'll be back.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst visit to CdB-Will returnStevie, the server, was wonderful. Friendly, knowledgeable, and excited about the restaurant. Mango and habenero guacamole very flavorful and a large portion for 2 to share. Special was a skirt steak- wanted rare and came out rare. Queso fresco enchiladas very good- almost like a lasagna. Portions generous, but not too much. Could finish if hadn't eaten appetizer. Extensive cocktail list. 130 bottles of tequila available. Had sipping tequila for dessert. Valet parking $6, same as evening rate in parking lot.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMTotal packageLoved the food, ambiance and energy of this new gem in downtown Richmond. Will definitely be back...often!!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGuac & EnchiladasWe had the perfect combination of warm Spring evening, outdoor dining, and great friends, and Casa del Barco rounded the night out perfectly by providing attentive and knowledgeable service along with good food.
We sampled two different guacamoles, both fresh with huge chunks of avocado.
Three of us ordered the roasted mushroom enchiladas, and all of us devoured every bite.
Each drink served was delicious, and our server's recommendations were spot-on.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMVery different 'mexican'!This was very different from any other mexican restaurant we have been to. It was very good but not your typical chips and dip. Actually, nothing was brought to the table to munch on before the meal. The fish taco's were very good and the atmosphere is interesting.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food!I'm not sure why people complain so much about the prices.. we ordered a lot of appetizers and several entrees, which were fairly large portions. The food was amazing!! Our waitress could have paid attention throughout the time we were there instead of just at the end, but since the food was so good that did not ruin our experience. We were a group of 7 and not one person had a complaint about the food or prices! The lobster ceviche and queso dip were absolutely delicious!! I will definitely be going back for more and I would recommend Casa del Barco to anyone who loves food!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved everything!Great food, outstanding service and can't believe I haven't been here yet, I see Casa del Barco as a new hangout. Try the matador and the habanero & mango guac - delish!!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch was great with a big group! We went there for a Bridal Brunch celebration. It was fabulous. A pretty quiet morning in the restaurant. They were very accomodating and made sure that we had all we needed to get set up. The server was great and very attentive. The drinks are awesome. My favorite thing about this place is the GUACAMOLE MENU!! So yummy. The rest of the food is pretty fab too.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great service wasFood was great service was fair our waitress seemed to get lost a lot and the restaurant was not crowded on this night.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was quite good butThe food was quite good but not much better than what one could find at any of the chain mexican joints in town (or even in the suburbs), and for the price I expected better. It does stand out by the variety of it's choices though, diverging from the tried and true. The margaritas truly were excellent but waaaay overpriced. I'd only go back during happy hour.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first time there in FebruaryOur first time there in February was not so well. However, after receiving a gift card from the first review we decided to try it again. What a world of difference. We will definitely return!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall great experience!Overall great experience! Good special margheritas. Great cheviche, guamcamole, duck tacos. Definitely worth a night out.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh ingredients and interestingFresh ingredients and interesting combinations. Would like to see a few more healthier options but loved the ceviche options! The calamari and shrimp combination was delicious!3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service and food madeGreat service and food made my daughter's birthday so special!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI chose this restaurant forI chose this restaurant for my birthday celebration with some friends. I was so impressed that the hostess, Anna, our waiter, Kevin, and the Manager, Jack, all wished me a happy birthday! They made me feel so special. The food was excellent. You must try the Guacamole with bacon and tomato that Kevin recommended.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
