My wife and another couple had an awesome evening. The pre-dinner drinks, apps, dinner, wine, dessert & coffee were all fabulous. Traditional Italian dinning, in a great setting with great service. Well worth the every penny. I have been going to this establishment for the past 14 years, and the consistency of food quality, wine selection, and service has remained spectacular. Bravo Casa Dante!!!!

After seeing the great reviews, I Was disappointed as the food was good but not to die for. The service was ok and it did take a while to get a second beer. The FIlet was good but nothing special. The lemon cake was average at best. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.

Great food and great entertainment gives this old world italian restaurant high marks. Start with some baked clams or calamari and head right into a second course of spaghetti carbonara. After that, the entree choices are endless but I usually go for veal al la dante or veal milanese

  • Wedding Singer Venue?
    OperaCookVIP
    Dined on 1/17/2014
The decor reminds one of a tacky wedding venue. Streamers, disco lights, rice paper lanterns with plastic beads hanging from them, you get the picture. Our server did not speak English very well, and clearly did not know what was on the menu, because there were several miscommunications during our ordering process. The menu is quite substantial, but if they are going to be charging what they charge, the wait staff needs to know it like the back of their hand. Our server also did not understand our initial request for the bill, and so we had to wait over 30 minutes before he finally reappeared and said, "Oh, do you want the bill?" The food was good. Not great, not stunning, not memorable. Not worth the price tag.

The classics shine on like casa Dante a jersey city Italian dining masterpiece for over four decades. They specialize in the pasta and veal standards but do go for the daily additions menu where you may find delicacies like cape may oysters or the elegant occo bucco perfectly tender with long generous paparelli pasta. My dining companion surprised me for my birthday with the talented singers and diners singing happy birthday complete with yummy layer cake from Monte leones bakery next door (another city landmark) it's the place for special occasions where you are treated like family. PS great wine list but you can bring your own for a nominal corking fee ($10/bottle)

My wife, son and I ate at Casa Dante for athanksgiving and it was great. We had no idea that this restaurant existed, and in such an unexpected location! We were pleasantly surprised at how nice and charming this place was as soon as we walked in. It has an old world charm and old school ambience that was perfect for our holiday celebration. The service was friendly and polite, the food was really good (we all ate from their special thanksgiving menu), and the environment was classy. We will be going back for special occasions, especially since we did not get the chance to try any of their traditional Italian dishes.

I adore Casa Dante. We went with another couple for my husband's birthday and had a fantastic time. Because they have live entertainment, going there really feels like an event. Dominique and Julian were playing and we had a blast dancing and guessing what songs they would play next. The food is lovely. Great old school Jersey City place.

The restaurant is so elegant; it looks like what I imagine an elegant Hollywood nightclub in its heyday would be like. There were many well dressed couples enjoying the live music on the dance floor and large groups of young people enjoying dinner. The food was excellent, we had tri-colore and insalata de la casa, delicious and fresh. My husband had veal parmesan (not on the menu but they made it for him) and I had bronzini, which they graciously deboned for me, delicious. The restaurant was full but it was so spacious that we could easily hear each other talking. It was a lovely evening in a very sophisticated atmosphere. Top-notch!

After a day at the Barclay's Golf Tournament, when we did not think it was possbile for anything to be better, it was. We were greeted by the maitre d' of 42 years, Louie, who was charming and quite helpful with explaining many menu items. Mike, our waiter was unassuming and attentive. Luigi and the staff surprised us with a light and airy, tasty piece of tiramisu with a candle and a Happy Birthday serenade. The food was marvelous, the meatballs divine and the martini's perfect! Thank you to all at Casa Dante! We highly recommend it.

Friday, the 5th was a great time to come as everyone "was at the beaches" as the maitre'd noted. If you're looking for new, sleek and modern, this isn't the place for you. While most guests were casually dressed, this is old school, with white tablecloths and waiters in suits. The food was lovely: figs stuffed with gorganzola (sp?), antipasto, broiled fish, and filet mignon. There is no hurry, and each course can be completed before another is brought to the table. It was a delicious evening.

Maybe the best tasting, most tender veal I have ever eaten. Great service and large restaurant, so you're not sitting on top of the table next to you. The one thing I would note, it's an elderly crowd. I'm 47 and I was the youngest by 15 years, but the place is really nice and I would absolutely return. They had live music on the Saturday night I visited and it was nice and they have a small dance floor.
