Carter's KitchenGreat Service and Great FoodWe made our 8:30 reservation just two hours earlier that evening. We arrived ten minutes early and the hostess didn't seat us until 9:00. That was way too long tp me.
Thankfully, once we were seated we were greeted by the nicest and most enthusiastic server we have had in ages. Mary Ashley quickly rid me of any frustration I had from the hostess because she was so positive about the restaurant, the menu, and the executive chef Bob Carter. (Bob, you have a gem of an employee here.)
The food was great. Our server explained how the menu was set up with entrees and small plates. So two small plates could give you more variety. We enjoyed the desserts too.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCasual and comfortable, withCasual and comfortable, with the service and quality of a 5 star restaurant. We also appreciated talking briefly with Chris, one of the chefs.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and delightful! Our first visit here and it was delightful. The staff went overboard on friendliness. We were initially seated by a family with unruly children and even though we'd met our server, Kelly, she cheerfully honored our request to move to the other side of the restaurant. Our new server was Little Meg and she's adorable. Kelly came over to check on us and make sure all was well. The manager came by, also. It was our anniversary and all the employees seemed to know and wished us a happy anniversary. Both of us had their special of meatballs and a fried pasta. Beautiful presentation and quite tasty. We shared peanut brittle chocolate cake of 8 layers and it was wonderful. A small, intimate place, not a good place for children.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways good food, good vibes,Always good food, good vibes, wonderful attentive service.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMMet or exceeded my expectationsMet or exceeded my expectations in all categories. Service, especially, helped make the experience enjoyable (hostess, bartender, and server)3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the moment we arrivedFrom the moment we arrived my wife and I were pleasantly greeted. I could tell the food that we would order would be good because of the bread they served. I would go to Carter's just for the bread, it was served very warm and freshly baked with soft butter not hard like other restaurants. Our waitress KJ was very professional, attentive and informative. The butternut squash ravioli's and the fried chicken were excellent. Don't forget dessert, warm chocolate pudding was too die for. They do say dark chocolate is good for you, don't they. We will be back with friends.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed a delicious mealWe enjoyed a delicious meal and appreciated the creative items on the menu. Any chef who can make chicken gizzards a very good appetizer deserves a lot of credit! The chef stopped by each table to check on things which was a nice touch.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time there and everythingFirst time there and everything was outstanding. Lamb chops were terrific. Would highly recommend.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMCarter's Kitchen had beenCarter's Kitchen had been recommended to us by friends who dined there several months ago, and as we were staying in Mt. Pleasant during a recent long weekend in Charleston, we decided to make a reservation there for our 1st night in SC. We were not disappointed. From the roasted cashews with rosemary (off the bar menu) that we chose to nosh on with our first glasses of wine, to the appetizer special of fried oysters on grits with a sweet corn relish, to our entrees of baked salmon with root vegetables and crispy flounder with shrimp, the food was superb--everything was done to order, served hot, and beautifully presented. The service was friendly, low-key, and efficient. Alas; no room for dessert, so we must go back!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFriends from Sacramento, CaliforniaFriends from Sacramento, California were in town staying downtown and obviously they had lots of choices for dining. I convinced them to meet me at Carter's Kitchen and we were the last to leave, the food was excellent and the ambiance was perfect. They promised to return !
