Diner Reviews
  • "Baked potato was under cooked, asparagus very woody. Very poor wine service. Gerystone wine was order came to the table in a small glass bottle should have been pored from the bottle at the table. The wine was very low quality, would not even ribbon in the glass. Must have been cheap box wine. only redeeming point was the brisket. Was not a fan with the background music. hip hop is not my style "

  • "We had bbq ribs, pork chop, and greek chicken all very good and the bbq sauce is very tasty. The sides were corn bread(favorite), double baked potato, augratin potato,(favorite), and wedge salad."

  • "I was disappointed with my experience at Carson's. Service was lacking (very slow and had to be reminded of requests). The person that cleared our table was awesome; he was at least genuine. OH - and the valet guy was great and handled the rain well. Food was good, but nothing to recommend to friends."

  • "This is the second large (6) group that I've invited to Carsons on my recommendation. The first time the restaurant was rather busy and so we all excused the rather slow service. But this time the restaurant wasn't nearly as busy and the service was just as slow but this time it included leaving dirty dishes on the table in-between courses. In my line of work I have the luxury of frequently most of the up scale restaurants in Milwaukee. I am a huge fan of Carson's and was very excited when it opened in Milwaukee. But in comparison with the other white cloth restaurants in the area, the service here ranks at the bottom"

  • "Kudos to Frank and his fabulous table service. Great ribs, great prime rib, and awesome char- crusted filet. Wedge salad was not the best lettuce or the best dressing I've ever had - just OK. The place is modern décor. Prices and food quality are about the same as other better steakhouses in the area, but this place has great barbeque as well as steaks."

  • "I had the biggest pork chop I've ever seen in my life - only to match the caesar salad. Ample portions - took home enough for two meals. Prices are kinda high so for my taste it's for special occasions only - birthdays, anniversarys."

  • "They ran out of food!!! Ribs and Mediterranean chicken are pretty good!"

  • "The ribs were average, the corn bread was AWESOME as were the Au gratin potatoes.!! The service was outstanding."

  • "Nothing spectular. I was expecting more. Somewhat disappointed since I heard good things, but didn't raise to that level in my opinion."

  • "I loved this! I had heard mixed reviews however our experience was great! Good food and service!"

  • "This indeed is a great restaurant- for special occasions- or any occasion! The food is well- presented and tasty! Their "sides" are huge, but fortunately the excellent waitstaff lets you know that ahead of time. We like the convenience of this restaurant being in pretty close proximity to the Bradley Center- love going there after Bucks games!"

  • "We had a party of 7 (celebrating a birthday). Everything was wonderful. 3 dishes however were cold. Out of the fridge cold. The manager did come over an bring fresh, hot dishes. All and all things were great!"

  • "Large portions and the food was very good. Noisy atmosphere. Not a place for a quiet dining experience. Our waiter was attentitive but seemed more interested in serving his other tables. We still tipped him well. We would return but now know what to expect."

  • "While we love the food at Carson's, we find that when we dine in the service is a little lacking. On this past visit, my water glass sat empty for a long time. When our food arrived I asked the server who brought our food for more water and she never returned. So I had to wait for our actual waitress to stop by the table and ask again. This is the type of thing that should be tended to throughout the meal. A customer really shouldn't have to ask for water. We also asked for more rye bread and were never brought any of that either. An improvement in service would be great. But otherwise, the food is tasty"

  • "Fun evening, very vibrant and happening neighborhood spot. The ribs and the service did not disappoint!"

  • "The food is outstanding, the service was good with the exception that they kept clearing stuff off the table before you were done with it. Felt like they wanted to rush you out. Very pricey but good quality! Also it's extremely noisy, so it's hard to hear the person across the table from you."

  • "The food is as good as the service: excellent! It is always a pleasure dining here, and the leftovers are just as good as the original serving!"

  • "My BF & I went to Carsons for a much needed date night. I had the ribeye & the famous au-gratin potatoes. The steak came w/a onion ring which was tasty & I got mushrooms for my steak. My BF got the bbq sampler which was a quarter chicken, pork chop & a full slab of ribs, au-gratin potatoes; we also split a house salad. The food was very good. The only thing I didn't like was that everything is separate. Also, from where we were sitting, it looked like the place was VERY small. We were sitting right across from the bar as soon as you walk in and we were able to see everyone that walked in. The dowside to that was people were standing by our table waiting to be called for their table so we were not able to have a private conversation."

  • "We loved Carson's in Chicago when we lived there. They are as good as ever and we are really happy they have opened a place in Milwaukee. The ribs are as good as we remember. The coleslaw that comes with the ribs is delicious. Our waiter was great the night we were there. The side dishes are very good. No complaints about anything. It's a great addition to the Milwaukee dining scene."

  • "While our appetizers and sides were excellent (corn bread and crab cake, sauteed spinach, au gratin potatoes), the ribs were average at best: not very tender, sauce was so-so. I would go back, but not for the ribs."

  • "Service was terrible!! It took 15 minutes to get to the table and almost 15 minutes to get our drinks!!! The restaurant was empty!!"

  • "The reservation was perfect and the seating was very timely. Our waiter (Reggie) and his assistant (Noah) were very affable, responsive to questions, even adding suggestions. Table seating was comfortable. Food was outstanding. The skyline view of downtown Milwaukee was very nice. The single drawback - the valet parking - was extremely slow. They didn't seem to have enough help for this, considering it was a holiday, it was a Saturday and there was an event at the Bradley Center."

  • "I had been to Carson's in Chicago many years ago! Loved it then....loved it even more in Milwaukee. They brought the uniqueness of the Chicago site as I remembered it and updated to today's vibe! Food and service was outstanding! Will be there again and soon!"

  • "The food was terrible and the prices were sky rocket! Our waiter was a ticking time bomb after he dropped ketchup on the lady sitting next to us. Bad Valentines date dinner. Big disappointment!"

  • "I picked the spot and was not disappointed. The liver pâté' was a neat touch and excellent. The big city atmosphere and the cordial reception made our day, and I still haven't mentioned the good food. We had the prime rib sandwich. I look forward to our next trip."

  • "Don't let the term old salad fool you its delishious. If you happen to have grown up in Chicago and went to Carsons as a kid then you know what I'm talking about. And the ribs were just as sticky and yummy as I remembered. Great night great meal! Impeccable service too. Thanks for coming to Mwaukee Dean!"

  • "Carson's has a really odd floor plan, multiple bottle necks and is just generally awkward to traverse. Walls, ceiling and floors are all hard surfaced, so the reflected noise level is very high and objectionable. Our server was very well trained and attentive. The Ribs were certainly nothing to write home about. The menu warns that these are "not fall off the bone" but, tough chewy and sinewy, is not something acceptable when it comes to Ribs. Having to gnaw and fight for every bite is not how a Rib should be prepared. They could have used at least another hour or two in the oven ( at 250 degrees) for those of you who know to make these things. The Greek Chicken was well cooked and flavorful."

  • "This is our second time to Carson's. Food was excellent again. Portions are very large. There was a slight delay in service at times but we weren't pressed for time so that was fine. Our friends who were visiting for the first time raved about the quality and quantity of the food. Only issue was the valet service was really backed up when we left and took a very long time to get our cars. But we would definitely be back."

  • "Service was excellent, food was very good. Ribs were meaty and very flavorful. Au Gratin potatos are a favorite, although it was surpassed by the charred asparagas - wonderful! Tiramasu for dessert, the portion is large enough for two to enjoy. All in all a great dinner."

  • "This was my first time here. It was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious. The portions were enormous and the service was great."

  • "The ribs are not fall off the bone as advertised, but they are excellent. They will split all entrees without a split charge, that is very appreciated. The sides au gratin potatoes were great, the cauliflower was tad over done. The size of the salads were remarkable and again, no extra charge for splitting the salads. We informed the waiter that we had theatre tickets and were time limited, that was no problem, we made the opening curtain."

  • "I was disappointed in the 'famous' ribs here. I ordered a half rack for lunch and they were dry and overcooked. The sauce was Ok but lacked any pizzazz. The portion size was also quite small. Overall very much the opposite of the advertising I heard. I doubt that i would be back and could not reccomend it to anyone for fear of emabarassment. Too bad, the service was top shelf and very friendly and attentive."

  • "Great food but very noisy as the night went on. The waiter forgot my husband's beer. He had to flag him down and ask for it again. The waiter did make every effort to stay on top of everything the rest of the evening."

  • "Our reservation was for a birthday dinner. We decided to try some place new. After making the reservation, I had second thoughts on a "barbeque joint". Wow, what a surprise! It's not a barbeque joint! What a nice atmosphere! What great food. We will be visiting again, to try the barbeque. Thank you, Carson's for a very nice evening."
