Diner Reviews
  • "Bills as fine dining inside but the deck has better atmosphere and menu. The menu inside is a bit pricey. Paying for a view based on dining in a booth where no water can be seen did not impress me. The service improved as meal went on but server was not as nice when we opted for water in lieu of alcohol. I will only dine on the deck in the future."

  • "I have been to Carroll's Creek many times over the years. Never disappointed. This time I was particularly impressed as the waiter we had was outstanding and made the special occasion (it was my wife's mother's 83rd birthday celebration) a very memorable time ..... Hat off to the entire staff."

  • "Carrol's Creek, as always, is superb! I always bring friends and family for a great dining experience!"

  • "Beautiful setting overlookinng Annapolis harbor. We enjoyed the seafood - excellent fish dishes (especically the Grouper and Rock Fish). The scallops appetiser was superb. The wine list is extensive and over-priced (unfortunately pretty typical of most restaurants on the East Coast). Very good serivce."

  • "This is one of our favorite restaurants in Annapolis, and we were excited to treat our friends from NJ to a great dinner...instead, the lobster tails were not warm, the steak was not cooked properly and our guest encountered a "bad shrimp" in his entrée. We will not be back for a very long time, if ever. The waiter was attentive and friendly..."

  • "Carrol's Creek continues to provide a relaxing yet sophisticated setting with efficient and friendly service. The food never disappoints, we had their rock fish which was superb and the salads are always fresh and tasty. Recommend it highly for seafood in Annapolis."

  • "Carrol's Creek was my go-to place for fish. But the past several times I've been there, the non-fish specials have outnumbered the fish specials by 2 to 1. If the menu were more extensive, this would be no big deal. But the menu is limited. I've had the on-menu fish courses 6 times each. They're good, but by now I'm bored with them. If you crave variety, Carrol's Creek is not the place for you on a regular basis."

  • "Lovely view of the harbor in Annapolis. Nice selection of dishes. We ate rather light that evening; the menu gave you many lighter options. I saw some dishes coming out that looked fabulous and was wishing I was a little hungrier. Would definitely return when in the area."

  • "Always take out of town people here and not just for the view of the marina. The service is usually very good, especially at dinner. We had drinks at the bar- the selection of local & regional drafts is impressive, tho pricey at $7.50 - try happy hour for same beer at better price. We tried rockfish, cioppino and the portabello squash. All good, especially the rockfish, a must if you come here. Dessert was caramel bread pudding with cappucino. Had a fine experience and will return."

  • "Nothing more pleasant than returning home. This relates to food that is well prepared, attentive service and a scenic view of the marina. Carrol's Creek is also referred to as home because it consistently provides the pleasant, laid-back ambience that we appreciate. Being rushed is nonexistent at this, one of our favorite, dining sites. Other reviewers point out the high-cost for a few selections and food that may not always be "par excellent" (I agree), however, the pros far outweigh the cons."

  • "stopped here for lunch on our way from NY to VA and we are very happy we did. The outside deck has a beautiful view of the waterfront and the service was attentive without being overbearing. The seafood was very fresh as we had the shrimp salad platter and the fish tacos. Would recommend this place to friends."

  • "We called the night before for a party of 12 and they said they couldn't swat us. When we asked if they could split us up they flat out said no...when we hung up we came on open table and were able to make 2 reservations for 6 no problem..when we got there the place was EMPTY! They had an issue when we asked to be seated near each other and said they can only do 5 & 6 ...so good thing one person didn't come...by time our food came everything was ice cold... Not even the hollandaise sauce they forgot to put on my eggs that they gave to me after was hot...my aunt debt back her eggs for being cold and they came back raw...horrible experience we never will go back!"

  • "We had wanted to try Carrol's Creek for quite some time. We made a late reservation on a summery Saturday night so that we could comfortable sit outside over the water. We arrived early and had a nice time in the bar while waiting for our table. We were seated at a nice table against the railing over the water. The inside seemed like a rather boring, large dining room, so I'm not sure we'd go back except for times when we can eat outside. The food was excellent. I had rockfish on a bed of risotto. I like to try different things, but would have a hard time going back and not ordering this. My wife had the surf and turf, filet and lobster tail, which she enjoyed very much. The server was nice but could have been a bit more attentive."

  • "Enjoyed a great lunch on their outdoor deck looking out at the Annapolis harbor. Nice summer day, great food and craft beer selection, with a beautiful view. The Greek seaford salad was a big hit and save room for the homemade desserts. Outstanding bread pudding"

  • "I and a friend dined at Carrol's Creek on Sunday, July 6. We were asked if we wanted to dine outside, but declined and ate inside due to my friend having sun allergies. The food was scrumptious......she ordered one of the specials, Lamb Chops, and I ordered Rockfish with spinach and crab....superb!!!!! Most notable was our waiter who was very attentive (without being overbearing) throughout our stay. He even reminded us to get our parking validated which saved me $9. We were seated by a window overlooking the boats on the water...very scenic view. I have been a few times before, and would definitely return again. It is a fabulous restaurant with great food and spirits!!!"

  • "We have been going to Carol's Creek every year for our anniversary since we got married in 2008. This is a fabulous restaurant. The food is outstanding and the service is usually very good. This dining experience was particularly good. My salmon dish, one of their specialties, was perfect. My wife had the scallops and black beans which was a special that night and she loved it. But what made this experience better than normal was our server, Rose. She was a true delight and made us feel very special."

  • "Everything was fantastic. The food was even better than the view, which was amazing. We has a table outside on the water and were treated to a perfect summer sunset. Server was friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go again."

  • "The fish dishes were very good, if a little on the heavy side. Service was so-so. Our waiter went over the menu, but did not tell us about specials. We overheard him telling another table after we had ordered. The wine list is disappointing. We had a lovely spot on the outside deck to watch the sunset."

  • "We went here for dinner and drinks early on a Saturday evening and promptly got sat outside. The view of Annapolis is outstanding, but the service left a lot to be desired. Our server was edgy and S-L-O-W. Drinks (alcoholic and otherwise) were slow to come, and sat empty for a while before she would return, then sat empty for a while longer until she returned with our next drink order. The Cream of Crab soup was filling, and made even better by the sherry (although we had to ask for it despite it being listed on the menu as an accompaniment). I go the crab cake, and my wife got the shrimp sandwich, neither of which was amazing, but both were satisfying. Overall, over priced, but a great view."

  • "Food was very good but to charge 14.00 to add a very small crab cake to a salad was over priced. Service was not good due to the fact they had several very young servers. We had to ask for a bread basket and noticed other's had to also. Seems like they are cutting corners."

  • "I have wanted to try Carol's for years and it absolutely did not disappoint. The deck has a fabulous view and everything we had was excellent -- from the calamari appetizer to softshell crab sandwich -- perfectly seasoned and done! I will definitely be back. Food highlight of our trip to Annapolis!"

  • "We had been to Carrol's Creek several times for dinner, but this was our first time for brunch. We had reservations for 9:30 a.m. The restaurant wasn't crowded at that time. Since the weather was perfect, we opted to eat outside. What a beautiful view! The brunch menu is extensive and includes some of Carrol's Creek's favorite lunch items. There were 3 of us: one had a bagel with house-smoked salmon, one had tenderloin eggs benedict (an interesting take on steak and eggs) and I had shrimp and grits. Everyone was pleased with their choice. Portions are good and the price is fair. Service was excellent. This is our new favorite place to take out-of-town guests for brunch."

  • "Wine list was limited and seemed to largely be grocery store wines. I got the mahi-mahi which was fabulous. My boyfriend got the halibut and it was very bland but cooked well. Service was great."

  • "the rock fish was fabulous also the special soft shell crabs, but the Italian seafood soup was not so great(the broth was very thin and not alot of flavor. The ladies chose well but the men did not so it will be hard getting the guys to come back. We can be persuasive though."

  • "All of our food was superb! Service was great but not stuffy. Loved the slight twist on food combinations.... The scallops in shredded phyllo was delicious! Just go there.... And don't pay attention to the business casual dress code... Lots of guys in shorts."

  • "I made reservations to celebrate my friends birthday. The table was great along with the view of the water. All of the wait staff were excellent. The food and drinks were great as well. I would recommend this restaurant. I wish the main course menu provided more of diverse seafood selection.. We ordered two of the smaller plates for our appetizer to make up for the difference in the main course selection."

  • "Dinner entrees were good but not great. Halibut and lobster were a little overcooked and slightly dry. By far best option is to order small plates. Taste, presentation, and variety were outstanding. Don't miss their signature phyllo wrapped scallops. Wonderful."

  • "Carrol's Creek Cafe was a wonderful place to visit while in Annapolis. The setting is beautiful and an added plus is they have a parking lot and will stamp your parking ticket for free two hour parking. The views are so peaceful and there is plenty of action going on as you look our over the water. The food was delicious and the service was terrific!"
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "While the menu is very interesting, there is only one choice for vegetarians. The same vegetarian entree has been on the menu for years. It would be nice if chef could be as creative with a couple of vegetarian dishes as with the rest of the menu. Please, don't add a pasta dish as the vegetarian item -- how boring. Vegetarian is more than just vegetables or an entree without meat."

  • "Enjoyed the crab cakes of a lifetime this week, along with wonderfully-responsive service. All entrees in our group were served hot, and looked beautiful on the plate. The flavor combinations and presentation make this one of my favorites. To say nothing of the knockout view of Annapolis."

  • "Lovely setting overlooking the harbor of Annapolis. Food was very good, but felt we were "bait and switched" with the menu. Arrived at ~5:30 and noticed that Appetizers and small plates were half price from 4-7PM. We enjoyed several, all of which were quite good. However we soon learned that the "half price" applied to eating in the bar and lounge, not out on the outdoor deck. Funny, it didn't say that on the menu until the couple next to us asked and we then asked as well...best we got was a "sorry" from our server. Decided not to push it with the manager (probably mistake on my part). Also who determines the "Best" cream of crab soup in Maryland? This is 5th place I know with that "claim"; go to Arpeggios in Springhouse, PA instead"

  • "The location is awesome - right on the harbor with a view of the State Capitol downtown. The service was very friendly. The food was delicious, although not gourmet-level given the price. Overall, if you value the location then its a great bet."

  • "We went for dinner before a show at the Ram's Head and it was DELICIOUS!!. The cream of crab soup was rich and creamy with big chunks of crab. We also had calamari and it was also excellent!. For dinner I had the Mahi Mahi. The portion was very large and cooked perfect. Others in our party had the Rockfish and it also was large and wonderful! The Salmon was also just as good. My wife's risotto was excellent as well! She is a huge fan of risotto and thought it was perfect!. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Annapolis."

  • "We've been going to Carol's Creek for many years and always for our wedding anniversary. This year we were a bit disappointed with them. The food was great as usual and our server was terrific. Our table was not. They sat us at a table that is right next to the busing station. So we had to endure the clatter of plates and dishes being cleaned off which at times was quite loud. Other than that our experience there continues to be very good. Oh yes, be sure to ask for bread if you want it as it is now "on request only"."
