    On Sunday evenings Carriage House hosts a family-style supper. For $30, guests can enjoy an unlimited amount of our low country offerings.

    April 13 - Pig Picking
    Sides: white bread and rolls, collard greens, hush puppies, onion rings, mac and cheese, slaw, cornbread, squash casserole, pickles, and an array of house barbecue sauces
    Dessert: vanilla pudding with house vanilla wafers

    April 20 - Oyster Roast
    Sides: fried oysters, saltine crackers, slaw, hoagies for po'boys, hush puppies, mac and cheese, Hoppin' John, peel and eat shrimp, corn muffins, pickles, and hot sauce
    Dessert: hummingbird cake

    April 27 - Low Country Boil
    Sides: cornbread, collard greens, slaw, cucumber salad, hot links, potato salad, toast, pickles, and hot sauce.

  • "The food was excellent. We didn't have any of the supper plates but had several small dishes and sides. I think we both thought everything was very good to excellent. Their house cocktails were ehhh. There wine list and selections seemed decent with some good reasonably priced bottles. In terms of service the bus staff was greater but our waitress, was decent. On the couple of questions we had, she gave pretty scripted responses that didn't seem very authentic, on the plus side, she had no problem puling a cocktail that my wife didn't like off the tab w/o us asking. I really liked the food, I'd go back."

  • "After many recommendations, I finally decided to bump this up on my dinner list. Low Country Oyster Roast: Delicious. You can't skip this. Smoked Beef Pot Roast: Good, but wasn't blown away by this dish. Crispy Braised Pork Belly: Another great dish."

  • "We dined here on Saturday 4/12. Service was very good. A bit slow but we were in no hurry. The food was very good but the menu was too limited for me. There were four entrees to choose from and about sixteen small plates to augment the entree. I found that to be somewhat of a confusing concept. If there were equal options for entrees and small plates or no options for entrees but just small plates I think it would have made more sense. I believe the ambiance was not on the top of their list but it was far from bad. In a nutshell- they do a nice job all around which is hard to come by these days. Was it so spectacular that I can't wait to return? No, but I'll go back at some point."

  • "My boyfriend went for dinner last Friday and were extremely impressed with everything! Our waiter was very knowledgable and helpful. The food was incredible -strongly suggest the fried green tomatoes and the pork chop (comes with a fried egg on top and grits -amazing combination). Also enjoyed a couple of their craft whiskey cocktails -again delicious! The ambience was great too, the decor and lighting make for a very cool atmosphere. We will be back!"

  • "Finally got around to Carriage House. Well worth it. Everything we had was good. Some dishes had interesting tastes and I'm glad I ordered them. But I wouldn't order some of them again. Basically, for some of the dishes, you need to come in with an experienced palate - something I do not possess. Otherwise, the Hush Puppies and Shrimp&Grits were phenomenal. Great service. Great times."

  • "Very good tasting and imaginative approach to traditional meals and ways of presenting.Shrimp and grits,luscious and on the traditional side,contrasted with light and colorful pickled squash salad. Mouthwatering pork shoulder's sizable portion can really set one up for a night on town . I went there to celebrate birthday of a dear friend in end of January 2014,middle of Restaurant Week in Chicago.The hostess was very accommodating and polite, as well as the lady who helped my table with the great recommendation of drinks and food . No surprise, this place is well talked around town. With food like that and great service hopefully will stay in Chicago for good."

Fried green tomatoes was the only vegetable-based appetizer/salad option! A lot of the other food was heavy. Comfort food indeed, but I would like more light, healthy options.   • "I am in love with the cuisine and decor of this beautiful restaurant, but I find it so overpriced that I can rarely go. The atmosphere and dishes are wonderfully reminiscent of the south, both tasteful and nostalgic. It's just so unreasonably expensive that I won't go anymore :( me and my friend spent 16 dollars on two cups of coffee each this weekend!! Ridiculous, unless it's brewed by gifted blind angel nuns"

  • "Carriage House is a nice break from the norm. Their gussied-up Low Country cuisine is well prepared and something different in a city of burgers and pizza. The shrimp and grits were decent - a little too exotic and saucy in my opinion, but no complaints. The fried chicken thigh was lacking in flavor, until the waiter suggested their medium spicy sauce, which changed the whole dish for the better. Finally, the scallops were absolutely incredible. Perfectly prepared with some crazy flavor combinations and just the right amounts. Please order these and you will be happy."

  • "The food and drinks were absolutely WONDERFUL. Our waiter rocked and didn't rush us at all so we got to sit and enjoy the amazing food an ambiance on a special occasion on Saturday night. When we first walked in, there was hardly anybody there, and we were about 10 minutes late for our reservation (I called in advance to let them know we were stuck in traffic). Nevertheless the hostess gave us the stinkeye. Still, the rest of the experience ended up superceding the cool welcome."

  • "For a birthday celebration our party of five had a fantastic experience at Carriage House. We go to Charleston often and love low country cooking. Carriage House did not disappoint. Every dish was exquisite. We shared Fried Green Tomatoes, Shrimp and Grits and the Pickled Acorn Squash Salad. All delicious. Then for our entrees we shared the Wild Caught Flounder, Crispy Pork Shoulder, Low Country Boil and the Beef Short Ribs. I would recommend all these dishes but the most votes for the best came down to Crispy Pork Shoulder and Beef Short Ribs. For dessert we each had a few bites of Apple Cider Donuts. Wonderful."

  • "Loved Carriage House. Went there with the fiance on Friday night & sat at the chef's table for 2, which was pretty neat as we were able to see the chefs prepare several different appetizers and main courses. We ranked our selections in the following order: 1) shrimp and grits (2 large shrimp, so much flavor to the dish) 2) fried chicken thigh (I am not a fried chicken person but this was outstanding) 3) scallops and 4) short ribs supper. The short ribs were good, but reminded my fiance of her dad's pot roast. I made BBQ short ribs for the first time ever last week in a Crock-Pot and mine were better. The tequila punch drink was so good that we ordered a pitcher and our waiter even gave us the cocktail recipe, which was a super nice touch."

  • "We were pretty disappointed since the food here had potential to be outstanding and we had heard good things about this place. However, the amount of salt in everything we tried (fried green tomatoes, cornbread skillet, shrimp gumbo and lowcountry boil) was ridiculous. Everything tasted way too salty and it kind of ruined the food experience for us. I'm not sure if they were over-salting everything to cover something up, or if the chef just prefers an insane amount of salt. However, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. But we won't be returning or recommending it to friends. What a shame!"

  • "We had a nice, unhealthy time at Carriage House. Not as amazing as we'd hoped, but perhaps it was what we ordered. We had too much fried stuff--the fried greet tomatoes (I loved, my husband didn't--lots and lots of cheese), fried chicken thigh (very good), cornbread (did not care for) and the winner of the night, the truffled mushroom, egg and grits--not fried, but a heart attack on a plate. That dish was fabulous. To balance, we had the flounder--very good, but not swoon-worthy. I wish our waiter had steered us to a more balanced dinner. Will try again when it is nice out and can eat outside."

  • "I have eaten here a few times and have always been impressed with their food---tasty, comforting, well-presented. From the fried green tomato to the crispy pork shoulder, just delicious. Our waitor on this occasion was a real disappointment. Mostly missing in action for ordering, checking back and getting the check paid at the end. He did a terrible job of explaining the specials, taking our order, getting a second cocktail for one of my friends. In the past I thought the staff was terrific, so hopefully this guy will not be with them for long. The only other thing I would hope for would be a slightly larger dessert selection--3 doesn't seem enough, and who wants pumpkin pie in February?"
