  • Catering: Planning a wedding, cocktail party or corporate event? Carpe Diem is available for off premise full service catering. We deliver the quality food and service you expect from Carpe Diem for events of up to 250 people. We can assist you with all aspects of your catering, from planning and menu decisions to rentals and set up. The service staff at your event will be employees of the restaurant, not contracted labor, so we can guarantee professional, friendly staffing for your event. We have a variety of standard menus available for your event, or we can completely customize a menu.
  • Private Party Facilities: The entire restaurant is available for private bookings on Sunday and for breakfast/lunch everyday. A completely private room is available any evening and can accommodate a group of up to 37 guests. If you are using a screen for a presentation, the capacity is reduced to 28 guests.

A word from Carpe Diem Restaurant
Carpe Diem has been open since 1989. We have moved twice due to downtown business developments, but are now in our third incarnation at 1535 Elizabeth Avenue. Our interior is done in a beautiful art nouveau style. Mahogany doors, copper lighting that vines around the wood work, and marble floors are just a few details that will engage you in the surroundings. We, the proprietors, sisters Tricia Maddrey and Bonnie Warford, are from Miami, Florida. Our interest in food grew from a love of the Latin and tropical flavors that influenced us growing up.   • "Everything was perfect. We were celebrating our anniversary. I had ordered some flowers the day before to be delivered to the restaurant. I had called the restaurant so they would expect the flowers, mentioned that it was our anniversary, and asked to be seated at a nice table. When we arrived the hostess smiled in a way that let me know she was expecting us. We were seated at a table in an intimate alcove adjacent to the main dinning area the flowers awaited our arrival. Everything was perfect-the service was superior, the food was epicurean, and the ambiance elegant. It all made for an evening to remember. Carpe Diem is one of the finest restaurants I have had the pleasure to experience."

  • "I came to town to celebrate a friends birthday and they had asked that I pick the restaurant. There were 5 of us and everyone was super impressed with my pick. They were even still raving about it the next day. We started with the cheese plate and Mediterranean plate and both were great! Myself and someone else ordered the buttermilk fried chicken and it was wonderful, two others loved the scallops, and the other ordered the ribs special. Also, on my reservation I had noted that we would be dining there to celebrate and birthday and when we arrived they had scattered birthday confetti around the center of the table. My friend was very touched by this special addition to our table. I look forward to returning on my next visit to Charlotte."

Haven't been to Carpe Diem in many years but I am spreading the word about how much we enjoyed our dining experience - knowledgeable waitstaff with both spirits and food. But it's not just the always moist on the inside, crispy on the outside best seller, it's the mash potatoes, pepper gravey and steamed spinich that help set this dish at the top of the list....simple, outstanding rendition of an old time favorite."

  • "My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our salads, though they are a bit pricey ($9). The kale salad was particularly good. I had the pork special which was an awesome combination of flavors, and my wife loved the trout special except for the crabmeat stuffing. She was glad that there were only two bites of it in the fish. Prices are a bit high on everything including the wine, but it's a beautiful space and has a creative flair with the food."

  • "Was a little let down. It was cute in terms of atmosphere but our experience was disappointing.. We had hoped to order a really good bottle of wine and found the wine list limited. The food would have been good, but everything was completely over salted. Service just ok, left a lot to be desired. Was hoping this would be a good date night spot but it was mediocre. Probably won't go back. Average experience from what we had hoped was going to be a slightly more upscale restaurant."

  • "A cozy neighborhood gem. Brandon, should be the poster child for restaurant service. Knowledgable, attentive, and warm. Love that Carp Diem offers a superb light-fare menu. The butternut squash soup was like silk. Warm goat cheese salad was mixed with a fabulous dressing that brought out all the salad flavors. I had the Aisian raw tuna and noodles. Had the tuna been any fresher it would've still been swimming. My wife had the carpaccio which she raved about. It had a wonderful combination of diced onions and other species on top. Blueberry cobbler and a chocolate ganashe cake were the perfect end to a perfect meal."

  • "Made reservations for 7. Called because traffic was terrible and we would be a few minutes late. We were told that was not a problem. Got there about 7:10. We were told it would be about 20 minutes for our table. After 45 minutes I hunted the host down and asked about our table aftet watching several others get seated in front of us. They apologized and seated us promptly. By the kitchen. Not a great experience."

  • "I went here on Valentine's Day and from the moment we walked in the door, everything was wonderful. The hostess was nice and friendly, the bar staff was quick to serve and kept up with us until we were seated. The service was great and food was even better. The buttermilk fried chicken was phenomenal and was one of the best meals I've ever had from a restaurant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for couples and special occasions. Although a bit pricey, it's well worth it for a special celebration!"

Service is usually very good, but the noise level varies with the crowd. For me it's a special occasion and treat to go here and I've never been disappointed."

We tried the goat cheese salad, kale salad, trout, grilled hanger steak, & cobbler. All delicious & well prepared. Service was excellent without being intrusive. Free parking across street & behind restaurant. The little restaurant was beautifully designed & warm & cozy on a cold night. Will definitely be back next time in Charlotte!"
