When they called to confirm, I requested a bar table. While I like the dining area, the bar is very pretty and seems more intimate. We sat in a window table, an were very near other people, but with the bustling of the bar, it was a really good place to be.
I had the Airline Chicken that has a really good mushroom sauce. One friend had the scallops. Everyone agreed the food was fabulous. Also, the bar offers some alternative drinks with herbs and such, if one was to be inclined. We had cosmo's and wine, which there is a good selection of wines. My request in the reservation was for a nice spot for a date nite and for a special occasion.
My salmon cakes special and my date's pork chops special were deelicious!!!

The food was outstanding and the attention to detail on every item was amazing. They even served a frozen palate cleanser before our entrees. The daily special of pecan crusted chicken breast was excellent. There are several vegetarian entrees including the Israeli couscous which was wonderful. We had their coconut creme pie for dessert and it was out of this world. We all agreed that it was the best we had ever had anywhere. Great food that was unique and very well done. I don't remember having such excellent side dishes anywhere in Charlotte before. This was our first trip and won't be the last. We drove an hour to get here and it was sure worth it. This time we came early (6pm) because we were meeting out of town guests. The bar and restaurant were quiet but inviting. Our waitress (Laura?) was fabulous. The tables are not crowded so diners have privacy. We had filet mignon with broccolini and polenta frites. All were prepared to our taste and well presented. The arugula salad with melon, pistachio nuts, and prosciuto was really delicious - the dressing complimented the flavors and was not an afterthought. We love the ambiance, often one of the owners is greeting people at the door, and the food is delicious. I love the way the chef creatively mixes flavors to surprise my palate. I often order the duck; It is always tender, moist, and perfectly cooked. The duck sits on top of something else, but that something else changes, so over the years I have enjoyed the changes made to my favorite entree. (Last time it was a swiss chard, cherry marsala demi-glace with sweet potato polenta cakes). My husband ALWAYS orders the fried chicken, which is like no other. It is one of their most popular menu items. Their menu is alway varied and interesting. My wife and I especially enjoy sitting at the bar or in the lounge to drink wine and ramble through the appetizer list. It is fine dining, but reasonably priced for what you get. The wait staff is very good and professional.
