  • "Perfectly cooked steak, every time. We had the filets (6 & 10 oz.) Medium rare & medium respectively. Perfect on all counts. We also had two sides, asparagus & mashed potatoes. Great atmosphere, very attentive staff. One of the best places to grab a steak... anywhere in the country (been to 3 locations). Quite the wine list however, know that wine is always way more expensive in restaurants & this one is no exception. However, I do believe they will cork a bottle for you for a fee if you'd like to bring your own (call to be sure). Lastly, I rated the "noise level" at two because it was not clear how that rating worked. My experience was that the noise was not too loud."

  • "We were looking for a good restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. We found one! The ambiance was fantastic. Not too loud, good 80’s music in the background and nice décor/lighting. The food was fantastic. I had the barrel cut filet and my wife had the tuna. Both were done to perfection. The vegetables were fantastic as well. We recommend the caramelized brussel sprouts. The wait staff was excellent as well!"

  • "The service was slow, the food was really nothing special (I have had better filet mignon at a Texas Roadhouse), it was far to dark to see anything unless you were under a spot light and then you were casting a shadow on your food. The worst part of the night was that we had a reservation and we got seated on the upper level right next to an obnoxiously loud party of 8. What really grinds my gears was that the lower level was only half full and we, as a party of two, got placed next to the "party section". I wish there was a noise level labeled deafening, that would be more accurate to my experience. I was unable to hear a word from my date the entire night so we sat in silence. Thanks Carnivor, you helped me make a GREAT impression."

  • "I went with 3 other ppl. The appetizers (we shared 2) were good, not fabulous. My steak was amazing (I ordered the petite filet with garlic herb butter), but the other 3 in my party felt their steak was good but not great. We all shared a dessert of fried doughnuts which were pretty tasteless. It's definitely pricey, especially for Milwaukee, so be prepared for that. Although we didn't order it, there's was even a 6 oz. cut of meat on the menu for $161."

  • "This place was amazing..I thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance. Service quick and attentive. I had the more expensive Kobe steak, my husband had the regular filet minion .. wow you can definitely taste and difference . Amazing.. they found out it was our anniversary very politely by striking conversation and delivered a wonderful deconstructed dessert upon surprise. This will definitely be a place we eat again at and taking family and friends there as well."

  • "The food was amazing. I had the petite filet and it was cooked perfectly. My husband got the Ribeye- also fantastic! We had two gentlemen taking care of us that night and they were great. Only one small issue came up. My husband had ordered mushrooms with his steak, and asparagus came out. Not a big deal, we were thinking of ordering that as well. We let the server know, and they took care of it right away. As we said- not a big deal. We are pretty laid back with things like that. The only thing that was a bit odd, was after this took place we did not see a server again until they gave us our check. A bit off putting- as the mix up was not our fault. But regardless- as always great food!"

  • "This was our sixth visit to Carnevor, and it was another terrific meal. We were seated in the upper area located in the back, which I prefer because it's less noisy than the main floor. Service was friendly and prompt. My bone-in ribeye was prepared perfectly to medium rare. My wife ordered her filet medium rare, and although it came out a bit on the rare side, she said it was great. We had the caprese salad as an appetizer; the mozzarella and tomatoes were very fresh. After six visits, I've become slightly addicted to their truffle mashed potatoes; they're so good I wanted to lick the bowl they came in. I'm looking forward to visit #7."

  • "My wife and I went to Carnevor last Saturday evening for my birthday dinner. Despite having reservations and being smartly dressed (I in a $600+ suit and my wife in a dress I am afraid to see the cost of), the hostesses attempted to seat us in the basement- in the corner of a small room already occupied by a large private group from Marquette University. The room was clearly for private gatherings and had no atmosphere whatsoever. Upon refusing to be sat there, we were immediately sat in the main restaurant. It very much put me off, especially when appropriate seating was clearly available. However, everything else was great after that. The food and our servers were sensational. I will go back, I just hope they have better hostesses...."

  • "took my girlfriend here for valentines day on the 15th.the valet service was perfect and only cost 5 dollars. We both got a drink and beach ordered steak. We got a couple of sides including asparagus carrots and twice baked red potatoes. The steak was absolutely mouth watering the asparagus and potatoes we're also very good. Both my girlfriend and I will rave about the carrots that we got as a side. Of note, these were not on the actual menu but the server candidly said I'm sure I can make a couple of appear. We finished off with creme brule a which was delicate and delicious. Yes this place is a little more expensive, but given the on the ambience, the service, and the amazing food I highly recommend this place."

  • "Went here late Saturday night for dinner. Had heard about the restaurant from friends and was not disappointed. The steaks were perfect, I will say that both my girlfriend and I agreed they were the best we've had in the Milwaukee area. Only two items I was not impressed with: my drink wasn't cold and our server was not very friendly. The server was knowledgeable and was always there when we needed him, but would never make eye contact or smile, seemed like it had been a long day maybe? We will be back though because of the food! Caprese salad was amazing!"

  • "This place is so overrated! Steaks are boring & bland. The middle dining area upstairs is boring. They shouldn't seat 2 there because the tables are fit for groups. I wasn't happy about a woman calling 25 hrs in advance to confirm my reservation on Valentine's Day & collect my credit card info. She wasn't even going to explain why she needed this info!!! How dumb! After I inquired she advised I could cancel up to 24 hrs in advance without being charged $20 for a no-show. But the service at the restaurant was great."

  • "Went to Carnevor with a friend before the Badgers game in Madison. Josh was our server and took great care of us. Told him we had to be out within 1 hour and he, along with the kitchen staff made that happen. My 10 ounce filet was cooked perfectly, my friend had the 8 ounce filet and he mentioned it was the best he ever had. Mac n Cheese and Truffled mashed potatoes were excellent! I highly recommend Carnevor to anyone looking for an awesome meal with great service in downtown Milwaukee!"

  • "This was our first visit to Carnivore and it won't be our last. We tried the mac n cheese for our appetizer which was delicious. Our steaks were melt-in-your-mouth perfection, with the to die for truffle mashed potatoes we couldn't complain. The smores dessert was a delectable end to the dinner. Our waitstaff was wonderful, very attentive, friendly amd fun. Thanks for a memorable evening."

Since they are not at all bashful with their prices, I expected the rib-eye steak I ordered to be on a par with the ones I've been served at Five O'Clock steakhouse or Mr. B's. It wasn't. The entrees served to the others in my group (of six) were, again, just OK. Since I was picking up the tab for this meal, it was NOT the reaction from them I had desired. I hadhoped for a memorable evening with family gathered for a great meal, especially since two of the couples were also celebrating their wedding anniversaries. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out that way. My recommendation, if you know of a place that left you with a "I thoroughly enjoyed that meal feeling", go there again and skip Carnevor."
