  • "This may be the best steak house in Milwaukee, but I wouldn't say I was overly impressed. IMHO I find their pricing to be about 20-30% more than what they should be charging. This is not BTW a classy or romantic setting; pretty loud, more nightclub/lounge ambiance than a fine dining experience. We were well taken care of, and I was not upset at by any of the food, but simply put, my mind was not blown. The only stellar dish was the Creme Brulee, which was the best I've ever had."

  • "I've eaten at Carnevor several times and they are usually outstanding. This time I left feeling like I overpaid. - The cream corn had too much of some kind of herb; probably an accident. - The exotic mushrooms were a bit on the dry side, but still very good. - The first bite of my med-rare fillet was a bit charred, but the rest of the steak was fine. - Lobster mac & cheese was excellent. - The fries were fries. - The service was good, but there was a time out waiter was caught up in conversations at the bar causing a longer than normal wait once we were done eating. Wasn't horrible, but there was an unmistakable feeling of being de-prioritized. The first guy that waited on us was great, though."

  • "Dinner was awesome, wine and beer selection was pretty good, service was excellent, even the valet service good. The food isn't cheap but you get what you pay for. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and the wife said whatever seasoning they used on her lobster tail made it the best lobster she has ever had. We will definitely be going back there again."

  • "From the start with varied cocktails, an extensive wine list (two pages of pinot noirs) and a menu with great aged steaks and other signature dishes Carnevor intends to please. Our waiter also happened to be the wine director, who gave us great insight and recommendations. My brother chose the bone in ribeye and I chose the King Crab legs. They were both up to the standards of any restaurant I've visited. A nice (but small) selections of desserts was a great way to finish the evening. We used open table to book which gave us a choice of 5:45pm and 8:15pm when we ask for 7:00pm. This was a glitch because they had a 60 person private party that limited the reservations. If you don't get the time you want call direct."

  • "I have always wanted to go to carnivore for dinner but have not been able to do to the price. I figured what a better way to try it then the dining week in Milwaukee. Boy was I disappointed! The food portions were so small that I actually had to go out to dinner again AFTER dining at carnivore. The salmon I ordered seem like it was cooked in grease. It was not a 4 ounce piece as I was told. The service was too slow and we were one of the only tables in the restaurant. I will never go back. The ambience was poor it was so dark in there I felt like I was in a cave. I can't believe the prices of this restaurant with the tiny portions."

  • "Returned for Downtown Dining week before a concert and was not disappointed! Service VERY friendly though we waited a bit too long to receive each course. Filet was delicious, as recalled from previous visits! I asked for medium rare and got rare, but that was OK. Side dishes unique and delicious. Nice wine list, great picks by the glass, and interesting cocktails. A fun, lively atmosphere."

  • "The service to me was bad. I had 6 o'clock reservations and they seated us at 6:15. They called me multiple times to confirm my reservations and still sat us late. There was multiple seats available and I sat in the basement. There was no airflow. It was hot and muggy where we were seated."

  • "Visited during Milwaukee's Downtown Dining Week. What a fabulous experience! Our servers were friendly and very knowledgeable. Our drinks were fantastic, and the food was superb. The restaurant has a very hip, cool vibe which we loved. My husband had the salmon--some of the best I've tasted, and I had the filet which was velvety tender. We will definitely be visting again!"

  • "Only drawback was how dark it is. Prefer more lighting in a restaurant. Tenderloin was the 2nd best I've every had (to Dickie Brennan's in NOLA, sorry!). Waiter very helpful. Would definitely recommend and go back. Only thing I wonder is if the portions are enough for my husband. "

  • "We had been excited to try Carnevor, and booked a reservation for 8:15 p.m. on a Friday night. When we arrived, the hostess seated us in the basement, despite numerous open tables on the main level. The ambiance was awful. We felt like we were being banished from the main dining room, and in the nearly two hours we were there not a single other party was seated downstairs. We just sat down there alone in a silent, empty room. Even the wait staff treated us like an afterthought. I finished my drink just after the food arrived, and the waiter never came back to offer another. The food was quite good, but the experience as a whole was pretty disappointing. Not sure I'd go back."

  • "Love the staff (although the packed hostess stand could use a little attention to detail), love the food, enjoyed the ambiance. The bartenders were very engaging, as was the wait staff, but when I told the hostesses we were early for our 8 PM reservation, we suggested and they encouraged that we have a seat at the bar (no more than 12 feet from the hostess stand) and they would grab us when the time came. As 8 PM came and went, they looked shocked that we hadn't been seated yet... and they had forgotten who we were. That aside, everything else was as close to perfect as could be. "

  • "This is our favorite place for celebrations. The service always exceeds our expectations and the steaks are wonderful. You will probably want to share their wedge salad as it is more than enough for two! I love ordering the small filet since it comes with sides and is plenty. OK if you don't want leftovers!! I loved that they presented us with a personalized menu wishing my husband a happy birthday. Be sure to mention your special occasion when making your reservation. Valet parking is available just outside their door so no worries about parking. "

  • "For most people dining at Carnevor it is reserved for special occasions. Had a reservation for 6p.m. on a Saturday evening with another couple celebrating a wedding anniversary. I was shocked when we were seated at the table right by the door and hostess desk when there were many others that were empty. Every time the door opened we experience a cold draft. When you are spending this amount of money I would hope for a more private table. Very disappointed. But I thought the anniversary noted on the menu was a very nice touch and a nice momento for the couple to take home. Also the surprise dessert that was brought out was exceptional. The entrees also were top notch."

  • "My wife and I met in the military and have been everywhere from Kentucky, to Texas, to California to New York, and even Kuwait, Korea, Germany and Afghanistan. This, without a doubt, has been our best experience EVER. We celebrated our anniversary there on May 10, 2014 and the staff treated us as though we were the only ones in the place, and it was very busy at that time. Our food was divine...and the service was out of this world. I don't normally take the time for reviews, but for the Carnevor, I definitely will make the time. My wife and I will be returning for ALL our anniveraries, and then some!!! Thanks Carnevor, for setting an unattainable standard....we NOW have someone to compare ALL our dining out experiences to!"

  • "This was NOT a noteworthy dining experience. Our party of 4 was greeted by hostesses who looked like they were recruited from a strip club. To say the least their attire was "trashy". The ambiance was cold, stark, dark, and unwelcoming. Our waiter was not personable and acted as though he'd rather be some where else. The food was average, VERY PRICY, everything ala cart. I can think of many elegant restaurants in downtown Milwaukee with better food, better atmosphere, friendlier wait staff and easier access. As the evening progressed it also became extremely noisy making it difficult to visit with our out of town guests. I would not recommend Carnevore or make a return visit."

  • "I took my boyfriend and his parents here to celebrate his 32nd birthday. He loves good food and fine dining and this restaurant satisfied both requirements. The steaks were prepared perfectly, the twice baked potatoes were a nice spin on an old favorite and the brussel sprouts werea pleasant ssurprise. The staff/service was delightful and attentive. We will surely be back!"

  • "If you're looking for a great place that KNOWS how to make a great steak, Carnevor is THE place to go. You'll be greated by warm, friendly smiles with a comfy vibe. The wine list is more than decent. You'll find a number of wonderful sides from which to choose with your steak (may I suggest the roasted brussel sprouts with bacon). Definitely a place you have to check out!"

  • "Perfectly cooked steak, every time. We had the filets (6 & 10 oz.) Medium rare & medium respectively. Perfect on all counts. We also had two sides, asparagus & mashed potatoes. Great atmosphere, very attentive staff. One of the best places to grab a steak... anywhere in the country (been to 3 locations). Quite the wine list however, know that wine is always way more expensive in restaurants & this one is no exception. However, I do believe they will cork a bottle for you for a fee if you'd like to bring your own (call to be sure). Lastly, I rated the "noise level" at two because it was not clear how that rating worked. My experience was that the noise was not too loud."

  • "We were looking for a good restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. We found one! The ambiance was fantastic. Not too loud, good 80’s music in the background and nice décor/lighting. The food was fantastic. I had the barrel cut filet and my wife had the tuna. Both were done to perfection. The vegetables were fantastic as well. We recommend the caramelized brussel sprouts. The wait staff was excellent as well!"
