Carnegie House RestaurantClassy and relaxingThe entire Carnegie House restaurant experience is first class and utterly relaxing. Upon arrival, you are ushered into the library for cocktails and to peruse the menu. It was a cool evening when we were there, and the fireplace gave off some welcome warmth. While sipping our cocktails, a small appetizer arrived from the chef. We were seated when our salads were ready to be served. There is plenty of space between tables and the view of the golf course and cascading wisteria on the pergola give the Carnegie House restaurant an elegant and refined feel. The prices are a bit steep, but the overall experience is exceptional.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMA little pricey, but wellA little pricey, but well worth it. Food is excellent and the atmosphere is very relaxing.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect, all the way around! We went to the Carnegie House for our 5th anniversary and loved every second of it. From cocktails by the fire to our amazing 4 course dinner, we were beyond pleased.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExpensive but worth it!My wife and I try to have dinner here at least once every time we are in town. I would say it is hands down the most elegant restaurant in the State College area. The food is great and artfully presented and the servers are friendly and skilled in the art of service. An extensive wine list is fairly priced. On arriving one is seated in a lovely library with a fireplace and upholstered chairs chairs and couches for cocktails and for ordering dinner. Once dinner is ready you are seated in the dinning room. Expensive but worth it.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice luncheonOur luncheon was the start of a graduation weekend, with multi-generation family gathering. We had a wonderful table awaiting our group, beautiful flowers on the table, gracious waitstaff, and the menu offering a nice variety of delicious items for everyone's taste. The noise level in the dining was very low; we were able to have conversations that everyone was able to hear. We plan to come back again soon.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOur Carnegie nightWe hadn't been to the Carnegie House in more than a decade and so it was great when we received a gift card from a friend. We couldn't wait to use it. We were not disappointed. Everything was fine. Well, almost. The portions were so big that we had to skip dessert. :-)5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfection at lastWhat a wonderful dining experience. Relaxing in the library with cocktails until our food order was ready to be served is unique. One of the best Cosmopolitans I've ever had, by the way. Service was elegant and totally unobtrusive. The lobster bisque had big chunks of meat and was silky smooth. Rack of lamb & Sea bass were both perfectly prepared. I'm looking forward to returning again and again!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful and cozy, perfectBeautiful and cozy, perfect environment. We will definitely go back for the great service and good food.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA Wonderful Find In State CollegeThe Carnegie House Restaurant has a very nice tradition of offering a cocktail and Hors d'oeuvre in their library when you first arrive. You can sit back in deep cushions, relax, sip your drink, converse, and enjoy a roaring fire in the fireplace. On some nights there's a pianist at the keyboard. Also, while comfortably seated you have a chance to view the menu and place your order. Once the first course is ready to be served you are ushered to your table in the dining room. (I imagine that this is what it's like to be rich!) The food is somewhere between very good and outstanding. I'm a bit of a food snob, but while I've had meals that are more refined and complex in "big city" restaurants, we loved every bite of every course.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time diningThis was our first time dining at the Carnegie House and everything was great!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AM
