Carnaval Brazilian BBQ is located at Bannatyne and Waterfront in the historic East Exchange. The two floor restaurant has been the outcome of the hard work from our team that has worked tirelessly to bring you such great restaurants as Hermanos Restaurant & Wine Bar, Corrientes Argentine Pizzeria and the Billabong Gastro Pub.

Our team is proud to bring all the elements of an authentic Brazilian BBQ dining experience to Winnipeg. Featuring a wood coal burning BBQ that came from Rio Grande do Sul,South Brazil, home of the famous Brazilian BBQ. This rotisserie style BBQ, makes for the most tender, juicy, perfectly cooked cuts of meats. Our passionate team comprised of Brazilian nationals and Brazilian trained staff will ensure that the authentic culinary experience is one your senses will crave.

  • "Second time there, food was amazing like usual. Two complaints though; when making a reservation online it had a section asking if I had an special requests, I said it was my girlfriends bday if they did anything for bdays. Nothing special happened even though two tables over I saw someone receive a piece of cake with a candle in it. 2nd complaint; waitress was very unattentive. Only saw her once after receiving our wine, and an hour into dinner we had to ask her where our side dishes were that we ordered at the beginning of the meal yet. She acted like she had no clue what we were talking about."

  • "I have been to Carnival a few times and the food is always AMAZING! This last time I found the service to be lacking. The waitress didn't warm up to my table until the bill came and we found that the food was coming out slower than normal. I am also used to them explaining how things work to people who haven't been there before. Which they did not do this time."

  • "Service was pretty bad for such an expensive restaurant. If we have a reservation for 6:30, arrive on time, and don't get seated until 6:50, that's a bad start already. The server was hard to find to order anything, and water wasn't often refilled (even though I left the glass on the edge on the table for her to see). The meat came by often enough, but most of it wasn't fantastic (the exception being the two bacon wrapped ones). All in all, I don't ever plan on going there again."

  • "This was my 2nd visit. I wanted a special evening as I had two grads to celebrate. I had everyone pumped up about how great the atmosphere, service and food was the first time. This visit we were seated under an extremely cold fan. Even with cardigans on we were cold and our food cooled off quite quickly. Our waitress asked that we be moved as our end person was in the aisle. The hostess nd finally moved us to another open table for six. The food was delicious. We did need to keep asking for water and sides. We walked out the front door and almost tripped over an ipod docking station. This should have been hidden. We will probably come back but not for awhile as the service could be improved."

  • "Went on a Saturday night, hostess didn't greet us or smile or even look at us when we arrived (with reservation) Service was completely unacceptable. Waiter was rude, did not explain the concept of the meal, wouldn't explain the dishes, I believe the wording was 'you'll see when it comes out'. We asked another waiter to explain the meal as our server was useless, the other waiter then said she'd gladly pass on the information as it wasn't the first complaint about him. We saw them discussing or arguing in the back afterwards. Server came to table to say they were out of things and didn't even ask if we want to substitute he just walked away after. Then also cleared dishes when we were still eating and had food on our plates. Rude."

  • "Overall it was a great food experience. Only disappoint was that we never saw any of the chicken dishes at our table, only beef, lamb, and one pork. Would have liked to see more variety and less of the exact dish over and over. Our server could have come around more and explained things a lot better than what he did. Was disappointed that our table was not ready on time."

  • "My experience overall was very good. The only thing I found different here than the experience I had when I was in South America was that variety of meats was served more on a consistent basis. We were at times waiting for the different meats to come around and had to ask for the server to come to our table. Otherwise great experience."

  • "We really wanted to try this place out. Looked so interesting from outside when we would drive past. The atmosphere is nice and so is the decor. Not amazing but nice. The food is tasty but extremely over priced. We found the service okay. Not overly friendly or inviting. The meat had a nice flavor on some of the cuts and the sides were quite good. One of our disappointments was a lack of description when choices were offered at the table. It is "chicken thighs" okay but how are they seasoned? Any sauce? I think adding some descriptions and elaborating would have made the experience more interesting. I can now say I have been. The view is nice but not sure I would go back based on the cost/value and service."

  • "It was a very nice experience. Food was great, waitress was polite and courteous.( Party of 7) The problem was the front Hostess. We had a 7o`clock res,showed up at 6:40 and informed the Hostess. we waited until 7:30 to be seated, asked the Hostess about our seat and she said I don`t know then 10 minutes later tells us the people from the previous party haven`t left yet. I wanted to say Sweetie find me another seat, but before I could say that she says " what do you want to do there not moving". My thought it`s your job to find me a seat! We felt because of the late seating we lost out on a little bit of the finer cuts being served. But again the food was great as well as the service"

  • "This was our first visit and I had heard both positive and negative comments so had to check it out for myself. It was our friends 40th wedding anniversary and we all found that it was a great experience. From the time we arrived to sit in the lounge, through the rest of the evening, we found the staff very friendly, the food was great and the service awesome. We will definitely return. It would have been extra special if something could have been done for the couple that celebrated their anniversary for example, a glass of wine of dessert!"

  • "Loved it at Carnaval and have already mentioned it to my friends. Only suggestion would be to just give smaller portions of the sides. I like items my husband doesn't but i wanted to try (i.e. chickpea salad--which was great, but I could not finish it all and I felt I had wasted so much of it) I loved the fact I could tell the 'gaucho' exactly how much I wanted of the meat and they were able to give me my small portions."

  • "The meat servers were frequent, friendly and fun. Excellent rubs and glazes added to the great flavour of most of meats. Only 2 we found to be slightly overdone and a bit dry. All others were delicious. Cinamon pinapple was fantastic, and got better (more smokey flavour) as it was returned to the grill several times. Unfortunately our server for drinks and side orders was seldom seen and he hadn't taken our side order after we had dined for about 20 minutes on meats and bread only. We had to flag down the manager to order our sides after which they were prompty served. Sides were good, except the yams which arrived cold and rubbery. All around a good dining experience but marred by the server we had."

  • "Outgoing staff, very attentive service, excellent food, constant supply from the menu was brought by the table, definitely would go back. I'm a very small eater so I was nervous about the choice of restaurant but I was taken there for my birthday. Because I could say "stop" to the gaucho after one slice of meat, I could eat leisurely and could eat slices from many swords. Two days have gone by and I'm still feeling very pleased with our evening at Carnaval."

  • "My mother and myself went on a Thursday evening (around 5:30) and had a reservation for our first time. My mom isn't good with the stairs, and it would have been nice if the elevator option was given before we were half way up the stairs. When we arrived upstairs, we were shocked when we weren't able to chose our own table as the restaurant only had one other group seated at the time. We were seated in the worst seat in the restaurant, right in the middle right as people are walking up the stairs. Did not start our experience on a good foot, especially when we left and all tables were still empty around us. Change the reso policy and we may return, but it's not looking likely."

  • "There were only a couple of cuts of meat that were worth the experience. Top Sirloin and Sausage. There were long delays between meat servings. We went with a group of 7 people, which was a lot more fun that just 2 or 3 people."

  • "Meats lacked a variety of seasonings. Everything tasted like salt and sometimes way too much salt. Side dishes seemed lack lustre and the whole experience was underwhelming. Absolutely overpriced and would not recommend anyone to go there. Carnaval sounds like it would be a festive place to go to but servers weren't that friendly. There were some meats that I liked like the ribs, which actually had a nice flavour to it and was nicely cooked. But because you have to wait for them to come back with it I never got a chance to have anymore of that. Overall I would have rather hit up a buffet and gotten more flavours and options for the money."

  • "Waited 15 minutes over the reservation time, noy bad at all considering how popular Carnival is, however some music in the lounge would add a little something to the experience and keep your conversation private. Once seated the service was some of the best I have experienced, the wine came fast as did the sides... however I found the sides lacking and wasn't impressed, some of the meats were salty, but when you slice off a delish end piece that is expected, the center cuts were perfectly cooked and the juices ran the plate, simply put, mouth watering. I will recommend Carnival and plan on having nights out with groups of friends. Well done Carnival."

  • "Was really good food. The restaurant was too hot the night we were there though to really enjoy the evening completely. Service was very good but a little slow at times on some of the sides and particular meats coming by the table. Will go back again next year for sure a once a year kind of dinner."

  • "not sure what all the hype was about surrounding this restaurant. most of the meat was great; however, the sides, atmosphere, and serving staff were mediocre at best. my husband and I wont be going back. for the price we paid, I believe we should.have had a 5 star experience.   • "My girlfriend and I went out here for dinner on my birthday. It was fun and very tasty, they bring lots of meat around and you can eat most every kind of meat in one sitting. Sides were good too (which you order a-la-cart). We were a bit early so we had a drink in the bar that was excellent as well. The price however is a bit steep, its all you can eat with lots and lots of meat so it makes sense that the price would be high, but for some it can be difficult to eat $44 of meat. Oh, also if you go make sure you have a reservation (I don't think they can seat you without one) and make sure you show up on time as they can't seat you early."

  • "It was excellent but if you like your meat on the rare side like I do. Then dont take an 830 booking. I was told it is too late for them to have rare or medium rare meat because they have to ise what is already on the grill. That part of the dining experience was not good I eat my meats blue to rare medium would be the absolute worst case scenario for me"

  • "This was our 3rd visit to your establishment and the food and service was Great. We took my parents for my fathers 81 st Birthday. We knew they would enjoy dinning at Carnaval. The music was so loud that we could not talk to each other without almost yelling. The sounds from the patrons add to the noise as expected but I do not think most people enjoy loud music while dinning. Music in a bar atmosphere is expected, while trying to visit and eat,.. The music did get turned down to a tolerable level which was great, but did not stay there. We were told the same stereo ran the bar and the dinning room. In such a beautiful building with great decor, spend a little more on ambiance control and music selection in the dinning room."
