Carmine has a long history of quality food in South Florida. Having started as a butcher and opening 15 successful Deli and Butcher Shops, including Carmine"s Gourmet Market, it's no surprise Carmine's Restaurants have enjoyed success from Jupiter to Miami. Over the years, Carmine has traveled extensively seeking the best products for his customers. In his travels, one of his favorite spots has always been New England and the great seafood houses and crab shacks that the area is known for. He has always wanted to bring that experience here to Florida and that has lead him to his newest restaurant……CARMINE’S CRAB SHACK!

  • "1st two visits we got undersized lobsters, so this time I brought a fish scale. 3 lobsters meat was soft jelly like; not firm as it shud have been. My 1st 2 pound lobster weighed in at 1.4 pounds. Even after I showed the waiter my scale, he claimed twas less cuz the water evaporated during steaming. AND he was serious about that. My second lobster arrived 30 min after the others, but it was perfect in size and taste. Nevertheless after 3 times of getting undersized lobsters (the 1st two visits they refused to admit they were too small) and having to prove it with a portable fish scale, PLUS getting soft meat this past visit are enough proof that this place is not for us. Did I mention the extreme noise from everyone yelling; not talking?"

Most people seem to go there for reasonably priced lobsters. Recommend that you spend a few extra dollars and get a great lobster at a great place."

  • "Lobster was a good value 2 lb was $24. But all it comes with is a glass of water and a small piece of cornbread. My husband had a steak...not good. I ordered a salad which was just a bunch of lettuce. All other food comes with rice and veggie I was surprised the lobster was not served with anything. Why not serve lobster with a side, I was hungry when I got home. Noise level was a 10."

  • "The 3-lb lobsters were sweet and succulent. My wife and I enjoyed them immensely and, considering the cost ($31.99), which we're told will prevail all summer, assured the management that we'll certainly return. We had an early dinner reservation and they were extremely accommodating as to seating arrangements for ourselves and our accompanying friends. The location of the restaurant has seen some turnover during the last few years, but we hope Carmine's Crab Shack will succeed and remain a fixture for a long time."

  • "The reviews promised "Maryland-style" crabs. After 9 years away from Maryland we're starved for crabs. Upon arrival, we were encouraged by the tables that were covered with butcher-block paper but, that is where any resemblance to our former home ended. Service was efficient but slow-laid-back, perhaps; it was not upsetting, however. The crabs were described as, "mediums" but, when the waitress held up her hand to show us, we detected "smalls." And, they were priced, not by the dozen but, by the each at $6.00; even at $72.00/dozen that's way too much for smalls. However, the crab cakes despite being small were plump and meaty - fried and tasty. My wife described the 3-lb lobster as excellent. Leave your expectations at home to enjoy."

The tuna steak looked like a hamburger pattie and was just OK. We were served one piece of corn bread cut into four very small triangles. This portion was very disappointing more in size than taste."

  • "Make a reservation for four even if you are only a party of two or you will get put in a tiny cramped table. I made reservations and upon being seated at the smallest table for two I have ever seen asked to be moved to a more roomier table we were told that we could not have another table because "those tables are for four tops" but they were empty so as the resteraunt filled up only 1 of those "four tops" had a party of four every other two person party after us was seated at a roomier table pretty disappointing. As we wanted to have crabs but couldn't because their was no room on our table."

  • "We dined at the Crab Shack following rave reviews for the restaurant in the Palm Beach Post. The ambiance is that of purveyors of similar fare in Maryland. Long tables and cosy romantic booths. Service is attentive and the bar offerings are extensive. The food is succulent and pricing is moderate to expensive. The garlic crab is messy eating but Oh So Heavenly. Great experience. Will dine there again. "

  • "If you are looking for a great fish/seafood dinner , this is not the place. It's okay for a quick bite and run somewhere else, because the tables are on top of each other and the wait staff struggle to get through the aisles. The soft shell crabs were out by 8 ; so we turned to the crab cakes. Not a good choice! Our waiter was attentive and tried to make it an enjoyable experience. But dining it is not!"

  • "Had dinner last night, went for the blue crab special. A restaurant that calls itself a crab shack should know how to cook crabs, but not the case. Meat was mushy and very watery. My lobster roll was lobster meat and mayo on a burger bun. The key lime pie was still frozen, mentioned this to the waitress who said she would tell someone but it was still on the bill. Ladies at next table sent back their alb. lobsters, undercooked. Very disappointed since I enjoy going to Carmine's Trattoria."

  • "As seafood lovers, I invited my two visiting sisters to Carmine's before they headed back home to New York and New Jersey. Although we were initially disappointed with the middle neck clams appetizer we received, the manager quickly corrected the problem and presented us with some of the best tasting clams we've ever had. We ordered three, three-pounds lobsters and feasted on them to everyone's delight. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Michelle was our waitress and was very attentive to our needs. Her service was outstanding and made the experience enjoyable. We've recommended the restaurant to friends who reported that they loved the restaurant and plan to return again ... as will I."

  • " Small noisey, Food was not what I expected from Carmines, 3 pound lobster was tough and over cooked, 11 ounce lobster tail looked lik it was 6 ounces.when we lold the waiter and they brought out a one pound lobster to make up the size. It was not worth the drive from Boynton Beach and I would not recommend this resturant to anyone"

  • "At Carmine's Crab Shack the crab cakes were excellent, tho the side dishes and the wine pour were skimpy. Service somewhat spotty (didn't clear all empty dishes and glasses after entrée). Bill struck me as high for three people - $129 before tip. Bottom line is unless I have an overwhelming desire for crab cakes or a mess of steamed shrimp, I won't be a regular there."

  • "We selected this restaurant because they were on Open Table & the menu looked interesting. The clam chowder was very good, and a bowl was enough to share. My wife loved her broiled crab cakes. I had the shrimp & scallop skewer and found the portion to be smaller than expected. Wine selection was adequate. Prices were reasonable. A large group celebrating a birthday increased the noise level, but not to an annoying level. Overall, it was a good choice, but I would get something else for a main course. "
