Carmine's - 91st StreetThe best Italian we've ever had!We ate at Carmine's while on vacation in NYC, and it's by far one of the best pasta Italian restaurants we've ever had in the US. Of all the eateries we visited, while there, this was our second favorite.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic. Never disappoints.Carmine's is our family's first chioce for special occasions with a group. Every year for the past 14 years, we have celebrated one of our kids birthdays at Carmine's 91st. We wouldn't miss it, ever!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA nice treat. Our group found this place on Yelp while looking for a nice place for a 8 person group from Seattle. We are a business group from Seattle and found the whole scene very wonderful. Great staff and the food was fantastic. The crazy size portions made it great to share with everyone. 8 people, 2 appitizers, 2 main dishes, and 2 desserts. All stuffed and didn't finish any of them but one main dish. Very impressed. I will go again the next time I am in town.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe dine here at least 4 timesWe dine here at least 4 times a year. We eat the same items usually. We enjoy it. the food is adequate and the wait staff are terrific6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat choice! We heard about this place from our tour guide and we loved it! Great food and service!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappointsI've been coming to Carmine's for the last dozen or so years and have always been extremely pleased with the dining experience there. Family style dishes fit for groups of 5, 10, 15 or even 2 on an intimate night out (leftovers guaranteed). Definitely serves as a perfect spot for a party of any number, children encouraged as well (kids' menu available, but many courses on the on-the-wall menu definitely suitable for the young ones)6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as alwaysCarmine's continues to impress. The food is great and now that we are eating outside again what could be better.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I were meetingMy husband and I were meeting friends that came from Georgia for dinner and we couldn't decide where to go. I recommended going to Carmine's. They were very impressed. I love that its family style because everybody can share and have a taste of everything. I grew up in a large Italian family and it reminds me of my great grandmothers cooking. Definitely worth the money.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter for a groupCarmine's is a great space. High ceilings, open feeling. Full of energy. Great staff. Our only gripe...and if you can call it a gripe...it is a family style restaurant. ONLY. There are no smaller portions to choose from. Being just two of us in our party, this was way too much food and, obviously, reduced our ability to sample. Food was very good (nothing amazing) and would return, but with a group next time. But, we are tourists...so when is next time? Disappointed overall, but would not tell anyone to avoid the place. Very authentic food. Just a huge bill and way too much food for two.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMRelaxed, family style portionsPerfect for my group of 8. Four of us are members of the WWII Orphans Networl who lost our Dads in WWII. We came to Carmine's to have lunch after the Memorial Day program at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on 89th St. and Riverside Drive. We divided two great, fresh salads, them had two terrific, filling pasta dishes. No room for dessert! The service was friendly and efficient. Thanks very much!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome LunchChicken parmesan over pasta with a salad was so excellent. The bread selection was fabulous. There were 4 of us and the serving was perfect. The service at lunch was excellent. Everyone was very helpful, pleasant, courteous. I will be back when visiting NYC. Everyone must add 91st. Carmine's to their itinerary. Thank you Carmine's for adding to our positive experience.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Carmines for a big groupLove Carmines for a big group or party! The Meatballs are the best on the planet!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a family style restaurant. This is a family style restaurant. The night I went we were firmly entrenched in graduation season. There were several large, loud parties of youngsters there cheering the end of their high school careers.
But if you want good, garlicky pasta and the best Chicken Marsala I've ever had, in rich and mushroomy gravy (It's more than a sauce. It's thick, dark, and velvety. Mmmmmm), go there! It is typical Italian but done well.
If you are a carbo-head, the bread basket alone is worth going for. Bring good family and friends to laugh and eat with. It's family style so platters of food feed 3 to 4 easily or make for a good amount of leftovers. You'll be happy you went.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphereWe had a large group and we had such a food time. Really fun, amazing food, super nice waiter. Loved it5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food & great service; still!!My uncle took me here in the mid 80's and I fell in love with the food. It's still great. Whenever I travel to NYC I try to have a meal here. This time my girlfriend and I had the rack of lamb and it was beyond delicious. We really enjoyed the tasty food and outstanding service. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Note: They will take reservations for two but the family style servings are for 4 to 6 people. You could go home with a ton of food.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFamily and FriendsGreat for celebrating with family and friends. With the four tops or circular seating for eight you can engage everyone at the table with little effort. Good food, service and friendly atmosphere.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMPost-graduation dinnerAfter my recent graduation from social work school, four friends and I celebrated at Carmine's. The food was plentiful and very good. Cocktails were a little on the weak side, but service was good, the waitstaff knew the menu, and the atmosphere was perfect for a celebration. The menu is designed for group dining and salad plus two dinners and a desert was more than enough for five of us. We were surprised when the bill came - it was very reasonable! I look forward to dining at Carmine's again.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMCarmine's - Reliable favoriteUsed to be there were a number of excellent family style italian restaurants. Now they are much harder to find the exception to this is that Carmine's has remained a great big noisy place with friendly and attentive service. The food ranges from great to mediocre many dishes are notably excellent i.e. anything marsala. The red sauce is fine, the eggplant parm isn't. All in all a great place for a boisterous group with big appetites.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMArmy commissioning dinnerI had reservations for a later time but the commissioning event for my son was finished early. My party of eight came to the restaurant to take a chance. I was so pleasantly surprised that they were able to accommodate us- we waited 15 minutes!
Our waiter was so attentive and friendly- I wish I asked his name- he is Portuguese -American.
The coffee and dessert was on the house, a true appreciation to my son who was just commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army.
Thank you for such great food and great service - this is the reason why we keep coming back to your restaurant!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, Great ServiceEnjoyed a delicious dinner and experienced great service. Our friends were an hour late; not once did the waiter ever pressure us to order something while we waited or made us feel guilty about taking up a table. The wine steward was a bit pushy, but our waiter made up for it. Service was well timed. Moderate selection of wines; pricey but not outrageous.
Started with calamari. Proportion of squid to breading was just right, wasn’t too greasy, and the marinara dipping sauce was extremely flavorful. The table loved Carmine’s Salad. Portions are all family style, and they deliver on that promise.
Ambiance was very energetic, but not too loud. The tables were a bit too close together so we kept bumping into the table next to us.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat timeMy experience was great, we was seated right away. Service was great our waiter was awesome, food came out on time I love Carmine's
.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat anytimeCarmine's 91st Street is my favorite Manhatten restaurant. Great food, usually great service, amazing family restaurant.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat PlaceWe went to celebrate mother's day. The food is excellent. I do feel the pasta dishes you get more for the money. We ordered a veal dish and since we were eight everyone got a very small piece. Much more pasta. The linquini with clam sauce exceptional. Be sure to order it.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMawesomenessI truly recommend this place! I`m from the midwest and when I come to visit I always make sure I visit Carmine`s at 91st street.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways GoodConsistently good food if not better every time; waiters/waitstaff very attentive (but not annoyingly so); they honored our reservation right on time; Fun, upbeat atmosphere5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waiter, Derek, was anOur waiter, Derek, was an absolute gem. Friendly, efficient, fun, knowledgeable and great humor.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFor the first timeFirst time there and it was pretty good friendly atmosphere everyone was nice from the waiter to the server to the receptionist, big and it wasn't crowed for it to had been 6pm in a busy area on broadway, Will come back.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!Carmine's never disappoints and is a MUST GO when you are visiting NY. GO hungry!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticAs always the food was phenomenal! Each time we go we try a different entree and have not been disappointed yet, the food just gets better and better.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMoverpriced even for the portionsizeBeen there before- always "good" food- always overpriced- even for the family style size portions. The bread is averagwe, the calarmari is average, the chicken parm is barely average, the one really good thing is the salmon special with seafood. DONT get the prime rib "special"- worst I ever had and for 75. the dish. We should have sent it back- all fat, couldnt get one good bite-some was overcooked and some raw- and we asked for medium. The one amazing thing and probably the best thing about carmines is the ricotta (italian) cheese cake.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodHad a really lovely meal with my wife and a friend. The servings are huge, so best to go as part of a group - the 3 of us barely made a dent in the food. Great service though and we felt well looked after.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat place to meet and eatgreat place to meet and eat with friends and family...waiters are always accommodating..we had a toddler who was happily enjoying the whole scene...the food is excellent..and let's me entertain visitors w'o feeling guilty that I didn't prepare it myself..they'd rather eat out anyway since it's NYC and not have me exhausted.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFood always consistently good.Food always consistently good. Has a menu the entire family can agree on. Always order plenty and bring home left overs.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMCarmine's hits a homerunAs always Carmine's hit it again. Another homerun. Where else can 4 people kill this much food. A platter of Cesar Salad, 1 of Veal Parm, 1 of Chicken Marsala (best in the world), 1 of Chicken Scarp. and 1 of Pasts Ragu. Can't wait till the next time I hit the city. You know Carmine's will be in the plans.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent thoughtThe food was excellent thought the tables were a little small but overall I will be back.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMHave a very nice time at Carmine's.Have a very nice time at Carmine's. The service was good and the atmosphere was inviting. We ordered the fried calamari (awesome flavor and portion size), shrimp scampi (very skimpy for the price), spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parm, veal parm and it all tasted great.
