Diner Reviews
  • "We were a party of 6 and 2 of the six wanted a coke. We were there for over an hour and still no coke. That's messed up. Note this was at dinner time 6pm"

  • "We visited from Toronto and your restaurant came highly recommended. We were not disappointed. The food was amazing and the atmosphere lively. We hope that you will bring your restaurant to Toronto Canada. If not we will have to make another trip to New York."

  • "The food was delicious and plentiful and we didn't have to spend a lot of money ."

  • "Nice environment. Some waiters are not too friendly, did not offer any specials until asked. Rolled eyes back a few times. Not detail oriented."

  • "We were early for our reservation and were sat immediately. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The noise wasn't too bad when we got there, it was 11:40 am but by 12:45pm the restaurant had gotten crowded and the noise volume was much louder which made it difficult to talk to each other. We had spaghetti and meatballs, it was a very large portion for 2 people and very good. We would go back, if in the area."

  • "Every time we come into the city we go to Carmines's to eat. This was the first time that we did not have to wait for a table. The last time which was last year we ended up waiting for one and a half hours with a 6 year old. It was very hard. So glad that we used Open Table for a reservation. We were seated immediately, our waiter took our order quickly and we did not have to wait long for our food. The hot antipasto was fantastic as was the lemon chicken. We also had the house wine."

  • "My family has been eating at Carmines for many years. For the first time ever, we were seated and waited 15 minutes before a server, not out server, came over to greet us. He. Ryan, was nice enough to go over the menu and ordering with us and even took our drink order in our servers absence. Ryan apologized several times and kept checking on us. We were seated up stairs at 11:45 AM Saturday August 16 Our server did show up with the drinks and was fairly attentive after"

  • "We were searching for a quick place to eat near the hotel- Marriott Marquis. We walked two blocks and were able to get a great table at this Italian food gem. The portions are unbelievable. We had 4--needed another 2 to really finish the food. We ordered a salad, pasta entrée with meatballs, side of sausage and side of sautéed spinach. We had enough for 6!! The wait staff was super helpful with picking the right amount. The plates are just BIG! Come hungry and expect left overs."

  • "The calarmari and zucchini appetizers were fantastic but the pene alla vodka was horrible didn't taste like it all, chicken parm had some fat, but the dishes we're ok and the cheesecake is amazing...."

  • "Every time I visit New York city, the first place I reserve is Carmine's restaurant. The food is outstanding. The portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. You will be full for two days! The service and ambiance are great. You cannot leave NYC without experiencing all Carmines has to offer. I always recommend this restaurant to all my friends."

  • "Went here for my birthday with the family. The food was excellent and the atmosphere fantastic. Gets very busy so service suffers a little but we had a great time. This is unpretentious old school Italian American. Not haute cuisine, not a venue to close a business deal but great family fun."

  • "It is a tradition to eat at Carmine's when in the city. We love the place for its food and locale. This time we were unhappy with our carbonara pasta--dry and sticky, not creamy at all. But our grandson swooned over his chicken dinner and the tiramisu dessert. We will still always have Carmine's on our list."

  • "Carmine's never disappoints. I think more people are mesmorized by the huge family style portions. That's my assumption from all the "oh my"s and whipping out their phone to take a picture of these Flintstone sized plates. I guess a meal isn't complete until it ends up on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook. My waitress seemed abrupt at first. Then I realized she just had a very dry, biting sense of humor. Which I welcome. She wasn't great as a sever...but she was good. Since branching out, I feel Carmine's has lost some of that NYC family charm. But its consistently good. And if you've never been, you must experience it."

  • "I now live in Texas, but love Carmine's so much that my husband arranged for us to be able to do a weekend trip to NYC to celebrate our 30th anniversary and eat there. I was disappointed that even after letting them know about this special ocassion well in advance we were seated at a very crowded table in the middle of the restaurant. Not nice or romantic at all. On a positive note, the food as usual was amazing. You could make a meal out of the bread basket alone. Ask for garlic and oil to dip your bread into. YUM! Remember that the portions are family style and even that being said are HUGE!!!!. This is a place I recommend to anyone visiting NYC."
