"I was excited for my first time dining at Carmen's but I left disappointed. My husband and I ordered a $35 bottle of wine. The waiter returned saying they didn't have it in stock but offered us a $50 bottle saying "It is more expensive." I was immediately disappointed. We should have been offered the $50 bottle for $35. I ordered the Salmon Oscar, one of the specialties. The salmon was a little overcooked, but the two shrimp and two scallops were tasty. I wish there had been more asaparagus. On a positive note, my husband liked the Baked Manicotti and I liked the atmosphere. Not sure we'll hurry back."

"First time at the Leawood location. Service was very good. Server was helpful with a good knowledge of the menu. I had the halibut which was fresh and perfectly cooked. Carmen's has a comfortable casual setting. I plan to recommend Carmen's to my friends."

"This is the third time we have eaten at Carmen's. The food, while good, is not stellar. The atmosphere of the Leawood restaurant is particularly sophisticated, but the flavors of the food are more in line with what one would have expected at a good Italian restaurant in the '70, is not what is found in a chic Italian restaurant of today."

"Food is outstanding, took awhile for the server to come over, manager never came to greet, person that sat us was short and rude. Had to ask for my salad. Meal was spaced to far apart. My one pet peeve with service, is you are slow with everything else, but fast to pick up check and get your payment.
Would drive to location in brookside before going to the closer location at leawood."

"Love it as much as our neighborhood standby here in Brookside. Rio was an excellent, attentive, accurate and very friendly yet professional server. Our group was large and indecisive(!) and it didn't throw her at all. She was great.
Food was amazing as always. Decor wonderful - elegant yet hip. Great job Juan!!!"
