This is a small intimate restaurant and bar. It is quite cozy and nice. The family and I went for lunch after a friend told us about the restaurant. The food was good but not exceptional; the menu is heavy on pasta (as is to be expected), so if you are aversive to carbs, this is not the place for you. The service was adequate but not stellar. Most disappointing of all was the lack of a kids menu, so my three children had to divide up one adult plate.

Carmens was great! In the past I had visited the Leawood location and was very dissatisfied with Food and Service. This location proved to live up the reputation I had heard about. Our waiters name was chance and he was etremely friendly and offered wonderful suggestions.

"
We were in town fpr the basketball tournament so this was a fiirst time and enjoyed a fantastic dinner. We began at the bar and moved into the dining room . I think eating at the bar may have been more fun and would have given us a more real feel of the place. Our waiter was on his 2nd day onto the floor and was good but as for recommended he didn't have personal choices yet , he liked it all ;) so we asked the maitre de and were guided to some great choices! We'll certainly go back.

Still the best Italian place to eat in K. C. metro. Everything is excellent. Our reservation was for three, then raised to four and ended up with six and they accommodated us very quickly on a very busy night. Everything was five star.

The server was fine. Nothing terribly special, but he was fairly enthusiastic about the food, which is always nice. The food, however, did not live up to his glowing recommendation. I had linguini with calamari and my girlfriend had a variety of tapas. The calamari was overcooked and pretty rubbery. I typically do not order fairly raw seafood unless I am sure that it will be cooked correctly. I will certainly not order seafood if I am unfortunate enough to find myself at this restaurant again. My girlfriend let me try some of her Tapas and I will say that the crab cakes were very good. The asparagus had too much lemon juice in it and was overpowering. Frankly, I have eaten much better at an Olive Gardens. I expected much better for the $$$.
