In 1992 we came upon Carmelo's when our son began his education at the University of Texas. As I looked across the dining room, the times we have shared came alive including his wedding rehearsal dinner about 7 years ago in their private dining room. The ambiance and service, the Bisteca Diana, the dessert card are established and will hopefully remain. New memory shared with now... grandchildren and our other son's wife. Great ambiance, decor and the wait staff is about as impeccable as you will ever experience. Great food from start to finish. Pricey, of course, but well worth it in my humble view when you really need an escape from the fast/junk food nation.

It was easy enough to find downtown - right next to Esther's Follies. There is valet parking available for those who don't want to wander around, looking for a parking spot. The ambiance was old world Italian - there's also a nice outdoor seating area & water feature.
The food was great - we ordered the lobster bisque, Ossobucco, & Gamberi Ripieni. Everything was really good - the Ossobucco was exceptional! Flavorful and super tender paired with great risotto - it's a keeper!
The only 1 exception to make this 5 stars... no diaper changing station.

This was a couple blocks from our hotel and got great reviews so we booked a last minute reservation and decided to try it. It was fantastic! I am not a big pasta person, especially out at restaurants but the food here was FULL of flavor and cooked to perfection! We were very impressed by the nice staff, good food and romantic ambiance! It was perfect! The entire staff was very attentive to all of our needs, constantly making sure our drinks were never empty. I never had to ask for the check or where the restroom was, just by a look on my face there was someone there immediately to help me.
