A word from Carlo's Italian Bistro
In the early 1970's, Carlo and Felicia Schiattarella ventured from their small town in Naples, Italy & opened a quaint carryout pizzeria. Three decades later, The Schiattarella family is proudly introducing their 3rd full service restaurant in MD.

Come join us for a delectable experience
at Carlo's Italian Bistro and enjoy authentic, mouth watering Southern Italian cuisine.

We take pride in serving top quality veal, chicken, seafood and shellfish specialties, along with salads, subs and sandwiches. With all of our menu items made fresh to order, we can gladly accommodate any dietary needs and preferences.

Our casually elegant dining room is a perfect setting for a romantic dinner, friendly get-together or business luncheon, along with plenty of space for large parties & gatherings.

Although we do not have a liquor license, we encourage our guests to bring their own alcoholic beverages to complete their dining experience.

We had to post an updated review of Carlo's Italian Bistro since we have returned to dine here many times since our last review. First, what's new (to us). The meatballs in their regular tomato sauce. It's not on the menu as an appetizer (it should be) but both the meatballs and tomato sauce are scrumptious. House salad, excellent as usual. Mains - we both had a special last night (Saturday) flounder franchese [sp] with 3 large shrimp. It was simply outrageously delicious. For dessert, we shared a tartufo (which they call a "bombe"). So good! And did I say how excellent the cappuccino was? Lisa, our waitress, provided excellent service, despite the fact that the restaurant was quite busy. The staff is usually very much on the ball and they work together to make your dining experience a good one. As you can tell, this is our "go to" Italian restaurant in the Towson - Hunt Valley area. Carlo's is BYOB, with a $4.00 a bottle corkage charge. They provide nice wine glasses. FYI: Carlo's tomato sauce is equivalent to the so-good fresh tomato sauce we recently experienced in Naples, IT (the city from which Carlo originates).

I live in an area where there aren't alot of really good restaurants and I was getting tired of going to the same ones over and over thru the years. A friend suggested Carlo's and I finally gave it a try. I was pleasantly surprised that the food was as good as it is and the portions are a nice size and I like that every entree comes with a basket of Italian bread a small house salad and a side of pasta - we did not order an appetizer because the meal was more than satisfying. I love that it is a BYOB! I will go back often.

My Italian sausage pasta dish was absolutely delicious and very filling. My wife enjoyed the Chicken Marsala but would have liked more Marsala wine in the sauce. Our waitress was extremely friendly and entertaining. We enjoyed bringing our own bottle of wine. This place has become one of my favorites.

Now our fourth visit here this year ... Truly a comfortable setting the lack of a bar section keeps the sound level down , there is no shortage of alchohol here as it seems nearly every diner takes advantage of the BYOB aspect of this place .. The menu is on the smaller side and a bit repetive often offering the same dishes with only slight variations .. I had a veal medalion dish and my companion the salmon in red pepper sauce. both entrees were done well the pasta sides offered a different memorable slant and the salads were fresh and well served ... Fresh pepper and cheese are freely offered here ! I see little room for improvment a pleasant and relaxing visit good food ,good service , pleasant ambiance.......... Bravo Carlo's!

The service at this place was spectacular, however, the food was your run of the mill americanized italian. Don't expect to have your socks blown off or to have truly authentic italian; but expect quality service and a good atmosphere for a family meal.

The fact that we return, time after time, says it all about Carlo's. Most every dish we've had there ranges from very good to outstanding. Prices are moderate, service staff is excellent across the board. BYOB, and they will supply the wine glasses ($4.00 corkage fee). Our favorite, if you've not seen our previous reviews, is chicken franchise, but the eggplant and veal dishes are delicious as well. Have to mention their tasty house salad, excellent cappuccino and tartufo (bombe) for dessert. Oh my, forgot to mention the delicious mussels. If you like 'em, get 'em. It's in a great sauce.

Excellent restaurant in Cockeysville (near Hunt Valley, and about 30 minutes outside Baltimore). The food was amazing - I had the shrimp & crab Amalfi, she had the lasagna. The portions were so large we had to pass on desert. The service (Donnie) was over the top. I would definitely revisit if in the area. One caution: if you like a nice glass of wine with your meal, bring it with you. The restaurant does not have a liquor license but the county permits a BYOB policy (bring your own bottle). The restaurant has a $4 uncorking fee. There is a liquor store across the street if you forget your bottle and need one.

I will start by saying this is great Italian food in Baltimore County! I should have had the veal though because it is always good. Had one of my favorite dishes, Branzino. Did not like the preparation. Seemed slimy. Also the corkage fees are too high since they do very little. No cooler for the wine. Didn't have to open the wine either. Two of us didn't even drink wine but were charged anyway. Still enjoyable and the wait staff is super friendly.

My wife and I have been enjoying this great neighborhood Italian restaurant for 2 years now. While there are plenty of dining choices along the York Road corridor none comes close to the quality and consistency in wonderful Southern Italian dishes as Carlo's. Service is always attentive and knowledgeable - the setting can be romantic - table for two up or downstairs - or you can enjoy larger party settings at the round tables or booths. As I've said, the food is consistently fantastic-from the fresh fish specials that include rockfish, crab and other delights-to the occasional steak specials so reasonably priced. The Italian standards are by far the freshest-and most tender of the competition-AND, the salad is included. Come and enjoy!

We keep returning to Carlo's simply because the food is consistently excellent. On this visit (just five days after our last one) my wife had Veal Piccata, while I had Shrimp with linguine in marinara sauce. Both dishes were delicious. Before the mains, we had to have the wonderful mussels and excellent house salad (included with the main dish). Our food was accompanied by a good wine which we brought- as Carlo's is BYOB. Our server Lisa was excellent as were the other servers. Probably won't be long before we start craving Chicken Francaise. :-) To copy a phrase from some long ago commercial, "Try it, you'll like it." - Oh, in addition to a tartufo, we enjoyed a pistachio ice cream parfait - Again, excellent!

The ambiance was quite nice, but the experience ended there. Our waiter was very friendly, but way to familiar. The service was way too fast. The waiter kept apologizing for the wait, when we just wanted to relax. I felt like it was an eating contest, to see how fast we could pack it in. The food was fine, but not overly special. You have a nice restaurant....slow down! Dining is about family, friends and unwinding.

Carlo's continues to be a restaurant that is consistently excellent. We love, and very often order chicken frachaise, despite the often tempting specials, which change daily. We've eaten there by ourselves and with other couples. Everyone seems to really enjoy whatever they order, some dishes we've never tasted. Carlo's is BYOB with nice wine glass service @ a $4.00 corkage fee. Salads are fine, as are the desserts. And as I always do, don't forget our favorite dessert, the tartufo, (which Baltimore restaurants insist on mis-naming as Bombe). Have had veal dishes there, and they are excellent as well. Friends of ours have had the various shrimp dishes and others. Bottom line: Good food is good food. Almost forgot the mussels. Terrific.
