Carlitos Gardel Steakhouse is a family-owned and operated restaurant offering the finest in authentic Argentine cuisine and hospitality since 1996. With an extensive menu of personal family recipes from Buenos Aires, the restaurant serves only certified USDA prime cuts of grass-fed beef and sustainably sourced ingredients prepared the Argentine way.

Sommelier Max Bozoghlian directs a multiple award-winning wine program showcasing the largest cellar of Argentine wines on the West Coast and several rare and boutique labels.

Named in honor of Carlos Gardel—an iconic cultural figure in Argentine history and the paternal voice of tango—the restaurant was recently highlighted by Irene Virbila of the Los Angeles Times as one of the city’s top steakhouses. Its 1930s-inspired ambiance is a nod to the “Golden Age” of Buenos Aires and has been a favorite of many locals, celebrities, and Argentine visitors for years.

  • "Gardel's is saved for special family events. We are always happy and never disappointed when we leave Gardel's after a delicious meal, graciously served. I am not a foodie and do not enjoy fussy food. Gardel's menu has choice and variety but sensible and everything is well prepared and I enjoy every bite of my meal. If only I was more affluent and the restaurant was closer to home...I would be a more frequent visitor. I would also be living by the Pacific instead of stuck in the Valley!"

  • "We went to this restaurant because of our love of Argentine food. We had the Matambre al Pollo for an appetizer and it was excellent. For entrees we had the Milanesa and the Pollo con frutas, both very typical Argentine dishes. Bot were superb. We topped it off with Panqueques dulce de leche which was incredible with housemade dulce de leche, something you rarely get even in Buenos Aires. The service was very attentive. Overall it was a lovely experience."

  • "We very much enjoyed our food and service. As a party of 6, I was not surprised that the service charge was automatically added (although no mention of this on the menu or signage). I was surprised that the service charge was 20%, and that it was added to the bill pre-tax, thus I paid 20% PLUS the extra percentage of the prevailing local tax. This seems a bit tricky and almost like gouging. The food was expensive - and worth the price. The tricky method of increasing the check was simply desperate on the part of the restaurant as we were the only patrons present when we arrived for lunch. Not cool."

Coming to Carlitos GardeI gives us a chance to relive the great memories we have of our trip to Argentina some years ago. It's a fairly small restaurant so feels quite intimate and the live music really adds to an authentic Argentine experience. The steaks are all AMAZING and cooked exactly as requested every time. The wine list seems infinite and the sommelier is very knowledgable without being stuffy or only recommending the most expensive bottles which is refreshing. Love this place and can't wait until we go again!"

  • "Small and intimate, with really good food, you feel like you've stepped back in time. The waiters, (in suits), are not wanna be actors working for tips. They are the sons and relatives of the owners, who take their positions very seriously and with great pride. No doubt that's why this restaurant has been so successful for twice the average LA restaurant life. Meal sizes are solid. Lamb, pricey, but amazing. Rib eye also awesome. Dulce de leche ice cream with bittersweet chocolate chips - aphrodisiac!"
