  • "We loved the whole experience. We went for my partner's birthday. The Host asked if the evening was a special occasion and upon learning about the birthday, poured a glass of complimentary champagne for us We selected the 4-course and relied on the waiter for suggestions. He asked questions about our preferences and allergies. We had 8 courses to choose, and with his help, they were all fantastic! Ahi crudo, Grilled quail, mero, carrot risoto, scallops, a cheese plate with 3 excellent cheeses and 2 desserts a pineapple something with basil sorbet, and a goat cheese croquette! YUMMY!! The entire evening was wonderful, food was great, staff was very attentive but not intrusive. We will definitely return."

We were going to an event and didn't have a lot of time. The restaurant is set up with multi course options sound accommodated our needs very well. I can't wait to go back when I have more time so I can enjoy the multi course options. Certainly one of the best restaurants in Austin."

  • "Even if it is a bit hidden within University of Texas, Carillon's food is excellent and the space is gorgeous with its high ceilings and rounded archways. The service that night seemed a bit clumsy, even with only few people in the restaurant. We found it a bit strange that the staff would sit a single diner at a table directly next to our table even though there was no one else in that section. A visit to Carillon requires some planning if you do not have a vehicle, due to Austin's notable lack of public transportation."

  • "Every dish our table ordered was delicious! We all had the four course tasting and chose a variety of dishes so that we could try a lot of things on the menu and none of the dishes disappointed. The service was fantastic. They all worked as a team to cater to us and make sure we had a memorable dining experience. The chef even sent out a complementary amuse bouche which was a perfect start to the dinner. It was a delicious cucumber avocado soup that was a perfect setup for the food that was to come. Highly recommended"

  • "I love this place! We opted for the four course meal and were not disappointed! It was the perfect amount of food even though the waiter said the courses are small. The pork belly was unbelievable and the New York strip was amazing! Dessert was on an entirely different level than the already excellent entree. I ordered the chocolate ganache which was covered with a layer of peppermint and chocolate rocks. I will definitely return to his hidden gem of a restaurant. "

  • "No doubt one of, if not the best dining experiences I have ever had. I would have to think long and hard to recall something that wasn't absolutely perfect. I did the four course meal, starting with grilled romaine which was fabulous. Followed that with the Steak Tartar, then moved on to the Meso which was an excellent Sea Bass dish and then tried the Lamb chops. For desert, I had a goat cheese croquet with Sorbet -- I'm not much of a desert person, but this was really mild and not too sweet which was very enjoyable to me. The waiters were great, so very considerate and knowledgeable and the atmosphere was delightful, very nice for a special evening with whomever you are there with. I can not recommend The Carillon enough. Please go! "

  • "This was our first time at Carillon and it was outstanding. The service we received from Oscar and the maitre d was excellent. The maitre d came and talked to us after the meal and when he found out that my husband's birthday was in a few weeks he poured us each a glass of champagne. The interior is so tastefully done, with a real sense of history. The food was really top notch from the Thai Hamachi to the lamb, then an excellent cheese course and chocolate ganache dessert. It was a very lovely, grown-up meal."

This is not your typical hotel restaurant, but a beautiful and serene oasis on the UT campus w/ a sophisticated menu. Each of our courses was creative and delicious and truly one of the best meals I've had in Austin...and I've been eating here all my life! The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly. It is a calm place that is great for groups or those wishing to have an elegant meal and actually hear each other talking. It would a wonderful spot to celebrate a special occasion! "

  • "I highly recommend this restaurant. The large arches and open kitchen set the stage for a lively dining experience. We began with the hamachi that was unbelievable. Then i moved to the grilled romaine salad and rack of lamb. Others at the table had Mero, prawns or NY Strip ( I tried a taste of the strip and it was fabulous). Several chefs cook the products well, what distinguishes this place is the sauces. They added some much flavor, but not over powering, that we were still talking about it the next day. We paired this with a great Syrah from Shafer called Relentless that perfect. I give high praises for the chef, wait staff and experience. My only complaint is they didn't have espresso, but I'm still coming back!"

  • "It is a very nice place, with delicious food. I had some friends visiting from another country, and everybody was very pleased and impressed. My only complain is that the 5-course and 7-course dinners were not available. It was a big disappointment. I work in UT and went during the day to ask -in person- about these menus and I was offered the option of these 5 and 7 courses. Unfortunately, it was a slow night and the restaurant decided on the spot to have only the 4 course menu. The quality of the food was great, and at the end was a very pleasant experience. We have to come back to try the other options. We ended up paying 560 for 6 adults, including some nice California wine and cocktails. We felt that it was a great deal!"

  • "After due diligence hunting for a great place to dine while stopping in Austin for one day of business, we choose Carillon (Named after the bells in the UT bell tower) at the UT conference center. Everything on the menu sounded great so we went with the 7 course chef tasting. I really appreciated the regional influences throughout the meal. Our table had a kitchen view; the team worked quietly and efficiently ( no television theatrics here) to present our meal with enough time to savor each presentation and enjoy conversation, but not so long between courses to loose our appetite. The whole staff was knowledgeable and personable. The service was superb. This is one UT destination this Aggie will visit again."

  • "Food overall fantastic. As New York City foodies (food snobs I suppose) we were impressed. Mero to die as was the porkchop, mussels, bacon and eggs and hamachi. Even the spinach salad was lovely - not overly dressed, great combo of the toasted pecans and maple. Only downside was the dessert. While stunning appearancewise, both failed on taste. Sponge cake bland and overwhelmed by the sorbet. What they called panna cotta was so not -- and very bad with the blue cheese. Overall though, no complaints as the rest of the meal was amazing."

  • "An outstanding dining experience. My wife, a friend and I ate here before a concert in the area. My wife had the miso marinated mero and loved it. My friend had the N.Y. strip steal and asked for it medium rare; he thought it was a little too rare and said he would probably ask for it medium if he had it to do over. I had the pork chop with cherry polenta; the pork chop was very good as well. We shared a bottle of Ben Marco Malbec which was good enough that both my wife and my friend commented on how much they liked it. For dessert, we had the panna cotta, crème brulee, and the chocolate and banana terrine. And, once again, were excellent. In addition the service was superb; attentive but not obtrusive. Excellent knowledge of the menu."

  • "Whenever we take in an exhibit at the Blanton, it is an "excuse" to dine at Carillon. Although the high open area is not the coziest, the staff is amiable and the room becomes welcoming. The food shows an art too, without being excessively avant garde. They know that a good steak should be cooked to perfection(seared with a delicious rub) . The accompaniments on my plate, humble broccoli and fingerling potatoes, were so tasty. The escabeche also was the best pickled vegetables ever. I did not ask the others at my table if they enjoyed their meals as I could tell from the silence that all were immersed in their own foodie heaven. Dessert of corn fritters on lime curd, like donut holes, and salted butter ice cream was outstanding."

The lamb was probably the best entree I have ever consumed in my life. My partner and I now have a newfound love for food after this night. The waitstaff were very friendly and prompt, and the sommelier was very knowledgeable and helped us pick out the perfect wine to pair with our food. I would eat here every day if allowed."

  • "This was truly one of the best meals I've ever eaten, and my husband felt the same way about his selections. All of the food was prepared perfectly, and the plates had a delicate balance of flavor that you rarely run across. The meats and fish were outstandingly fresh and tender. The cocktails were made to order - fabulous. The service was excellent as well. If I could make suggestions about The Carillon, it would be that the wine/bar list is unnecessarily huge and overwhelming (and we are wine people), and the service is a bit formal and stiff. I understand the service being what it is - if it wasn't that way, snotty people might complain. But I think it's Austin and people want a little humor with their meals."
