Wine list not up to snuff - ordinary. Food while served visually appealing, was average to good. The chef is good but not great. Overall, a beautuful place to go for a special event but do not expect the best of food or wine.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DinnerWe decided to celebrate our anniversary by staying at SandPearl. We also made sure we made reservations at Carreta's due to its wonderful ambiance and menu. Carreta's delivered over the top service and food. The weather was perfect to sit outside and watch from above the wedding on the lawn below the restaurant take place. It was just plain perfect. What a blessed evening and thank you to Carreta's for what appeared to us as going above and beyond but we know that is just typical consistent service that can be expected by any who decide to celebrate any special occasion.

Beautiful restaurant, if weather is good, outdoors is very nice. We had salads, and a grouper and veal chop entree, which were both very good. When I made the reservation, it was noted that this was for a birthday celebration, and they brought out a nice piece of cake on the house. But we were very pleased with Caretta. We had an outside table with a beautiful view of the beach, the pool area and the sunset. The food was excellent and creative. The service was also excellent. We were going to share an appetizer and salad and they were nice enough to split it for us. Fabulous-it is deffinately the best on Clearwater Beach! Everything is great, but expensive-so who cares-enjoy!! Easter brunch was wonderful-many-many selections and all great!! Eat on their teerrace and enjoy the best beach in the US! Just have Bellini's and appetizers-fabulous! It really is a must place to go! It is expensive , but well worth it! My wife and I go to Clearwater Beach once a year and Caretta's is consistently our favorite dining experience. There are other places on the beach with excellent food but Caretta's service puts them over the top by a mile. This is not to say that the food is not of equal quality. This time we discovered the Surf and Turf sushi, which is apparently the only item that remains from the original menu, which switches seasonally. But there was not a single bite that let us down. The buffalo ribeye, the veal porterhouse, the "chicken" and waffles, even the house salad was unique and delicious. Oh and don't forget the butternut squash soup.
