There was only one thing that bothered me about this restaurant. We were only 2 for dinner and they automatically placed a 20% gratuity on our bill. We probably would have left the same tip. I have never had this on a tab for 2 people in any other restaurants of the same caliber.

Our first 2 experiences at this restaurant were disappointing --- limited menu & mediocre food. But we decided to give it one more chance (lured in by the 30% discount after 8:30). This time it was excellent. Many menu choices and food so delicious we can't wait to go back. The eggplant appetizer is sensational and the veal with radicchio & arugula special was outstanding.

This was such a wonderful surprise during the Christmas holidays. I took my entire family there for dinner and they did not let us down. The sea bass dinner was wonderful as was the eggplant appetizer. This is a cozy, warm and friendly place, very inviting. We were a party of 10 and did not feel crowded or rushed. We will definitely be back for the great atmosphere and food!

The restaurant will have a lot to offer when the staff gets it together. I feel the waiters really don't know what to do to accommodate their guest. THe place is very pretty. THe food very good and I think with a lot of instrution the waiter staff can become more attentive and experienced. That's the word I was looking for inexperienced. Yes, I will try it again.

From someone who worked in an Italian restaurant for many years, the dishes were very flavorful, especially the sauce. The dinning room was quiet and the waiter was very professional.

Everything was great. Excellent wine selection by the glass. Oysters and lobster were both delicious. Tasted exactly the way you'd expect. Ribeye was grilled exactly as requested. A classic neighborhood restaurant experience.

What a wonderful surprise!! A neighborhood gem, which has it all. My husband and I shared the insalata verde , with bibb lettuce and othr greens It looked like they gave us two salads for the price of one. I had the cornish hen, nicely presented with lentils in a balsamic port reduction sause which tintilized the palate. It was served with tasty potato puffs My husband papadella pasta dish was delicious as well. We can't wait to ty other dishes on the menu.

We tried Carastina because it's convenient and find that it's worth a trip. Everything we ordered was excellent, including octopus, short ribs with authentic pappardelle, and the best lobster sauce I've ever had in an Italian restaurant, loaded with large pieces of lobster. The portions are generous, including the salads. The room is lovely albeit a little noisy. There's a back room that looks brighter and may be quieter. The service was very good. Only the wine list was lacking; rather few choices, relatively high prices, and the red wine was kept far too warm. The dessert offerings were also limited; a few more gelato and sorbetto choices would be welcome. Worth a trip for the pasta, fish and meat.

The food was lovely, but we had dinner at 9:30 and they cleared the flowers while we were eating and started turning up the lights. So don't go late if you want to enjoy a leisurely meal.

New to the neighborhood, Carastina had great potential when it opened. Unfortunately, it has not lived up to that potential. Sorry to say, it is just another meal.
