The food was delicious and the service was great. The table side guacamole was excellent, my husband had the vegetarian enchiladas and I had the shrimp tamale. This is the best mexican we have had and it catered to my husband vegetarian requests. Will go back again soon.

My girlfriend and I just moved to Farmingdale from Albany so we were excited to take advantage of Restaurant Week to learn the area. We went to dinner on a Wednesday and spent an hour and fifty minutes at the restaurant eating a 3 course prix fixed meal(wayyyyyy to long). There was one point where we had the dessert menu for 20 MINUTES, and then waited another 20 for the dessert. The restaurant also had about 6 total tables while we were there so I could only imagine what the wait would be had they been busy. The food was okay (definitely not worth what it would have cost if it were not restaurant week). Moral of the story food wasn't terrible, but I wasted almost 2 hours of my life for 3 prix fixed courses...........

The food was delicious and the ambiance was very nice. Dimly lit, romantic feel to it. We went on a Saturday evening around 7pm, and the restaurant was packed. It was very noisy, but thats what happens I suppose when you go out on a Saturday evening! Service could use some help though - our waiter although polite definitely gave the vibe that he didnt want to be there.

The tamale was to die for...best I have ever had. 4 of us shared it as an appetizer with the empanada, also good. We each got a different main course and everyone loved their meal. I had the carne asada (great!), my husband had the taco platter, friends had the salmon and the chicken enchiladas. We asked for all of the sauces on the side - some were very spicy. All around great meal. Service was good too.

Noisy restaurant. Not too crowded at 6:45 Saturday but packed when left. Nice to see farmingdale coming alive at night. Had a Few outdoor tables. Had reservation. Skillet tacos came mixed with onion not mentioned on menu. Hate onion. Cheese was overlooked and stuck to skillet. Never seen served like that. Pointless. Not shredded or even able to put on very small tortillas. Rice and beans ok, rice very dry. Steak ok. Son has same with chicken. 6 tiny two bite size tortillas to share. He Asked specifically for JUST chicken cheese and lettuce. Of course it came with everything. And No lettuce. And again the overdone cheese. Wife's shrimp dish excellent. ordered day of dead IPA very good. Second one came warm though and sent back.

This place was recommended to me as a 1/2 way point between me and my Queens friend. The experience started out positive in that we were able to easily find on the street parking near the restaurant. Inside, the liveliness and ambience was appealing; loved the lighting. Menu was not overwhelming but gave plenty of selections to choose from. Service was a bit delayed at first but very attentive as evening progressed. Food was very good, as was dessert! The only negative is that I found it to be too loud at times. All in all, a very nice restaurant.

We went on a Saturday night at 7:00 pm. The restaurant was full and when the waiter came to give the specials we all longed for hearing aids. Acoustics are horrible and you cannot have a conversation unless you are screaming. We went with 6 people and it was the most difficult atmosphere to converse! Food was very good but I will not return unless I go for lunch or with a single companion so that you can converse. We actually left the restaurant and went down the street to have dessert and coffee so that we could actually talk to each other!

I was looking for something different and this did the trick. I love Mexican food, but this wasn't just plain tacos and quesadillas. Every dish had something interesting about it, I really felt like I was dining and not just grabbing a bite of mexican. I had chicken tacos and they were absolutely delicious. Our waiter was very friendly and I would definitely go back again!! The ambience was trendy, room on the darker side. I think it could be great for a date night or girls night out!

We ate here for restaurant week. Made a reservation having been turned away before. The food was terrific. Loved the green salsa! Only complaint is the noise level. My hearing is totally normal but I could not hear the person sitting next to me. Couldn't carry on a conversation. They should look at some way to dampen the noise level.

food was very good, although we were not happy with the guacamole which we always order. We told the server (not our waitress) that we wanted it medium and my husband asked for extra jalapenos on the side. Thank goodness he did, because there was no taste what so ever in it. It was bland as could be. Our main dishes were terrific. The noise level seems to be getting out of hand though.

My daughter has been raving about CaraCara for a few months. We decided to celebrate her birthday there, I made a 8:45pm reservation on Opentable. We arrived early, about 8:20, we were not seated until 9:40. What's the point in making a reservation?? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind a half hour wait, but a hour past our reservation? Noise level was too high for my liking. Food was good but it was served lukewarm. When I mentioned this to the waiter, he didn't know what to say???!!! Hello??? Offer to warm up my meal!

We went here with 4 adults and 2 children on a Friday at 6. The place was so loud you couldn't here people talk. When we tried to order food for the kids they did not have any traditional items such as beef tacos or arroz con pollo. Each choice was quesadilla or shredded chicken taco and not your norm except for chix fingers. I ordered tacos mixitas which was 4?small tacos with a side of rice and beans of which had no flavor. My wife ordered hanger steak fajitas and it was awful. Chewy and gross. Our waitress forgot one drink then during meal said she has to leave family member having baby and our new waitress never came to see us til we asked for the check 30 minutes later after waiting and waiting. Never dine there again!!

First visit to Caracara and probably the last. Got seated right away. Ordered Guacamole and the rest of our order. The waitress made the guacamole at our table and it was very good. The best part of the meal. We then waited an hour for the rest of the meal. The waitress said there was a backup in the kitchen. By the time our food came, I wasn't hunger because I had eaten so many chips.

I would strongly recommend the restaurant for dinner. However, I think there is a marked difference in quality between lunch and dinner. I've been to the restaurant once for dinner and twice for lunch. The dinner tacos are WAY better than the lunch tacos. The last time I went there, I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was burnt and cut up - nothing like the meat that was included in my dinner tacos. I would go there for dinner again, but never for lunch.

For a supposed Mexican restaurant I didn't get that Mexican vibe. I went with a group of friends for Cinco de Mayo and it was very loud. The space is small. You have to squeeze thru the bar to get to the dining area which isn't really separated enough to block out the noise from the bar. The drinks were ok I was not a fan of the peach sangria. The guac was pretty good but the chips were salty. Alot of our meals came out to be salty. They advertise that the rice and beans are served "family style" however it was far from it. The portions were very small. All in all maybe if I was there another night it would be ok but I defintely woud not go back for cinco de mayo.

I went during the last Long Island Restaurant Week with a few friends, and was surprisingly impressed. The portions were HUGE, as in, my appetizer alone could have been enough for a meal for two people. I had the chicken tamale app, carne asada (chimichurri skirt steak) for my entree, and tres leche cake for dessert. We also ordered the tableside guacamole. Everything was flavorful and fantastic. Margaritas were excellent, with some unique choices (passionfruit chile, yum!), and fairly priced. Waiter was attentive and friendly. A little on the noisy side but I didn't mind. I would absolutely recommend Caracara, and can't wait to return.

The food was good, but we've had better at other Mexican restaurants. Our server was extremely pleasant and friendly, but it was very busy so we had to wait for some things we asked for. Was disappointed that they did not have a special Restaurant Week menu. We were told to order from the regular menu but many dishes had an extra surcharge and it was annoying trying to figure out which they were. My partner says the best thing about our dinner was the dessert which he loved. Don't remember the name but it was sort of a small wrap stuffed with cream cheese, plantains and dusted with cinnamon sugar. He said he'd go back just for that...lol!
