  • "We had a great time! The food and service was excellent and very kid-friendly."

  • "Service was great ! It was only moderately full , plenty of room . they had our table ready as soon as we arrived. I was there with 11 family members to celebrate my son's birthday. He loves Mexican! The candles and the décor are awesome. However the food lacked what I was looking for in Authentic Mexican food. There was a lack of flavor in a lot of the courses and I felt they added a lot of spice to cover the lack of flavor. I was disappointed in the guacamole it was almost tasteless. Almost everyone at the table order a beef dish , none of us finished it . My son ordered the beef and churiso kebob and his meat was terrible over cooked and extremely fatty, I had to give him the rest of my steak, which I was glad to give away."

  • "We went here for the first time with friends and no expectations. The drinks were great and the food was delicious! Much more than a typical Mexican restaurant. The food is gourmet and different. The chef had wonderful specials. I think this may be our new spot!"

  • "I have had open table for a while but have never found it necessary to write a review up until now. This place was perfect I went with a group of girls and everyone thought the food service ambiance was superb. All of us were planning when we were going back to eat with our boyfriends and husbands. The food was fresh and delicious better than any Spanish or Mexican place we've been to on Long Island. I highly recommend this place and cannot wait to go back! Excellent drinks food and service very happy with the experience we had here! Can't wait to return"

  • "Food was nice we enjoyed it very fairly priced. Very noisy and tight though. The Flan that we had for desert was tremendous. Will probably eat there again."

  • "Great place to enjoy a casual dinner experience very fun and a little too noisy. Excellent food. Dine here all the time !"
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "First of all this place is very loud. Maybe if youre with a large party its fine but dont expect to have a quiet dinner here. Also, if you are only two people then you will most likely sit in a row seat where you are so close to the people next to you that you feel like you are dining with them. Food is only mediocre in my opinion and the margaritas were way too sour...couldn't even finish it. A fairly disappointing experience."

  • "We absolutely love this place. Found it one day while walking a Farmingdale street fair this summer and have been back at least 10 times since. The food is awesome, the service is excellent (waiters and bartenders), the drinks are delicious (try the jalapeno margarita!!!) All that being said, this place is always packed. Make a reservation or you'll be waiting. And be prepared, the seating is tight, it's not very easy to walk thru and it's very very loud. None of that matters to us because we're not a bunch of cranky complainers. Be prepared for what I noted above but go and enjoy yourselves!!! We will be back very soon!"

  • "Found this place through open table listing and glad we chose to visit. I had the steak sandwich and it was cooked to perfection. My lunch date had the Mexican salad that she loved. Lunch at 2:30 was ideal because there were only a few other guests there, allowing servers to focus on us. Nice decor and very friendly staff. Would definitely go back. If you are near Farmingdale, then you should stop by and give it a try."

  • "Have been to this restaurant several times and this was not the best experience. Usually everything is spot on, but not so much this time. It was very loud and very busy and the guacamole, made in front of us, was terrible - the avocados were not ripe - it was hard to put on a chip and it lacked any flavor. My meal was so-so. I asked for medium steak and it was very rare. Will give them another chance though because usually we love everything about this place."

  • "Not for those who want to have conversations over dinner. Waitress was very helpful and answered all of our questions. They maximize floor space putting tables extremely close to each other. They even sat 5 people at a small booth meant for 4"

  • "A good local Mexican restaurant. A little loud, but fun."

  • "We were a group of 6. first met up at the bar for a couple of drinks and then sat to eat. Service and food were wonderful! prices were good too."

  • "The meal overall was quite nice, initially it was very loud and it was difficult to hear the server go over the specials menu but I could tell it was a busy night. The drinks were well done and very enjoyable. The appetizers were delicious, but when the main course arrived it was very good at first the the meat seemed to dry out within a few minuets of being served. Desert was delisciouls along with the desert drinks! Service was very nice and tentative as well as knowledgable."

  • "We have been to Caracara many times and always love it. The food is great, the guacamole is a must! Drinks are delicious and service is always wonderful. Definitely would suggest this restaurant to friends."

  • "The food was excellent & the service was great. As good or better than Besito"

  • "I would return over and over gain. Great food, ambiance, and service."

  • "Food was okay. I will go to Besito next time, as I find the food and service much better there. The margaritas were terrible for a Mexican restaurant. I only get margaritas at Mexican restaurants, as they are never great elsewhere, but was shocked how lacking these were. As for service, we were always looking for our waiter. Waited 15 minutes just to flag him down for the check and then waited again. Will not return for dinner, although the band in the bar was a plus. We would only return for some live music if in the area."

  • "This is a really good Mexican restaurant and reasonable prices. Tableside guac is a must. Shortribs, Skirt Steak and Salmon were all delicious as well. My favorites are the sides of potatoes, rice and beans. And don't forget the margaritas! They also have a gluten free menu."
    Dined on 1/25/2014
  • "The food was unsatisfactory, bland and lacking in substance. The only bright spot was the sangria, which was exceptional. I would not recommend to a friend or even an enemy. You will receive better tasting food at Taco Bell."

  • "We celebrated my sister's 40th birthday with our families. Food and service were great. Two complimentary desserts for the table. Will definitely go back!"

  • "This is not traditional Mexican food, but it is still as good as it gets in Long Island. We went on a Sunday evening and while the restaurant was not as busy as we've seen it, the service was quite slow. This is pretty much always the case as it seems that there is a long wait for everything. Typically the food is worth the wait. One final note. I substituted chorizo for chicken in my enchaladas and they accommodated and the results were outstanding."

  • "We found Caracara and made a last minute reservation on Saturday by accident. Having said that, what a nice rebound. I found the basic margarita to be too sweet. I enjoyed the berry margarita (not the official name). My husband had the red sangria which was amazing. Loved the tableside guacamole. The calamari was definitely overdone. My husband had the poblano pepper special. It was unique and unforgettable. My shrimp dish was without comparison. It had huge, delicious, well-cooked shrimp; several of them. When I ate my entrée it was then that I decided it was a little out of the way, but we'd have to return for more. We were so full we did not get to taste any of the desserts but next time I'll eat fewer chips so I can indulge."

  • "Love this place! They put some interesting twists on Mexican food. Always filling and delicious. The only issue is they seem a little disorganized especially when it comes to seating people. They have 3 people, including a manager, handling reservations. And there's always one person who has no idea what's going on. Despite that, our waitress was very nice and attentive. The food is just fantastic! The atmosphere is really stylish and relaxing. It can get a little loud but nothing crazy. Great bar!"

  • "It doesn't matter what I write, the manager knew I was unhappy and never came over to talk and help correct it. The waiter never came over to see why I was upset, again, says a lot about them. Service is never consistent at CaraCara, that's a major problem for a small town restaurant, too many other, nicer customer friendly places to go!!! I won't go to a restaurant hoping for good service, Villa Monte in Bethpage, food is always good and service always excellent."

  • "UWent for a much needed night out with my sister. Enjoyed the chips and salsas and our margaritas (my sis had passion fruit; I had coconut crusher - both really good, although mine wasn't filled all the way). We shared shrimp ceviche appetizer; entrees - Carne Asado and Camarones Tropical. My usual favorites! They always have the best sides that acoompany the meals-everything goes perfect together. We split coconut orange flan for dessert-full of flavor. Overall food was great and service was pleasant and attentive! My go-to spot when I want an enjoyable evening out with nice ambiance, but want to stay close to home! It's a little loud and was packed this particular evening, but i enjoy an energetic atmosphere! Will definitely be back soon."

  • "We celebrated our co-workers 60th birthday lunch and so glad we chose Mexican! As I've dined here before, I chose Caracara because of it's delish, freshly made food. Loved that our guac was made fresh at our table side. Our guest of honor never had it before and now he's a fan! The Enchiladas Suizas and Mixtatas along with the Tacos De Pollo were outstanding. Margaritas and specialty beer hit the spot, too. Finished off with a complimentary brownie birthday dessert! I will definitely return with more co-workers again soon."

  • "Been here a few times. During the week it is more on the quiet side, but come the weekend, it is very busy and can get very loud. The food is always good. I always try the specials or something different from the menu. Service is pretty good and knowledgeable or they will find out for you. Eat and enjoy"

  • "restaurant was nice, service was pleasant and friendly. Food did not come out on time or as expected. Maybe due to crowded restaurant? This was our negative opinion for the dinner. Maybe be now, the wait-staff and kitchen-staff are better prepared. Will give it another try."
