  • "Portion size was ridiculously small for 17 dollars. .. The dish I ordered came with LITERALLY One red and one green pepper with baby tortillas... won't be going back"

  • "Caracara was everything we were looking for and more. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The food was delicious and the wait staff outstanding. As a large group, we are always impressed when everyone receives their food at the same time. Caracara accomplished that! Our glasses were never empty and the waiters were always on the ready but never intrusive!!! Caracara has just become our favorite restaurant!"

  • "Long Island is becoming oversaturated with Mexican restautants, but Caracara Mexican Grill stands out from the pack with an interesting menu and great service. Be sure to order the guacamole, made at tableside, although also be sure to let your waiter know to hold back on the salt if you are on a sodium-restricted diet."

  • "We ate here for restaurant week. Made a reservation having been turned away before. The food was terrific. Loved the green salsa! Only complaint is the noise level. My hearing is totally normal but I could not hear the person sitting next to me. Couldn't carry on a conversation. They should look at some way to dampen the noise level."

  • "We always enjoy caracara. The food is more sophisticated than the average Mexican restaurant, and the ingredients are fresh and excellent. The hibiscus margherita is delicious, and the table side guacamole is incredible. Try the ceviche, pollo relleno or the iron skillet tacos."

  • "food was very good, although we were not happy with the guacamole which we always order. We told the server (not our waitress) that we wanted it medium and my husband asked for extra jalapenos on the side. Thank goodness he did, because there was no taste what so ever in it. It was bland as could be. Our main dishes were terrific. The noise level seems to be getting out of hand though. "

  • "My daughter has been raving about CaraCara for a few months. We decided to celebrate her birthday there, I made a 8:45pm reservation on Opentable. We arrived early, about 8:20, we were not seated until 9:40. What's the point in making a reservation?? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind a half hour wait, but a hour past our reservation? Noise level was too high for my liking. Food was good but it was served lukewarm. When I mentioned this to the waiter, he didn't know what to say???!!! Hello??? Offer to warm up my meal!"

  • "We went here with 4 adults and 2 children on a Friday at 6. The place was so loud you couldn't here people talk. When we tried to order food for the kids they did not have any traditional items such as beef tacos or arroz con pollo. Each choice was quesadilla or shredded chicken taco and not your norm except for chix fingers. I ordered tacos mixitas which was 4?small tacos with a side of rice and beans of which had no flavor. My wife ordered hanger steak fajitas and it was awful. Chewy and gross. Our waitress forgot one drink then during meal said she has to leave family member having baby and our new waitress never came to see us til we asked for the check 30 minutes later after waiting and waiting. Never dine there again!! "

  • "First visit to Caracara and probably the last. Got seated right away. Ordered Guacamole and the rest of our order. The waitress made the guacamole at our table and it was very good. The best part of the meal. We then waited an hour for the rest of the meal. The waitress said there was a backup in the kitchen. By the time our food came, I wasn't hunger because I had eaten so many chips."

  • "We ended up with 1 more person coming to dinner than anticipated. The lead host was very accommodating and made room for our additional guest. The service was great and the food was excellent. I would definitely go back again."

  • "Went here for Mother's Day Brunch! The food was excellent. Our waitress was on spot. I had the breakfast tacos, they were delicious! The guacamole is made tableside which is a nice touch. It was fresh and tasted great! We all had Blood Orange Mimosas to drink. Was the best mimosa I ever had. Will def be back again! "

  • "I would strongly recommend the restaurant for dinner. However, I think there is a marked difference in quality between lunch and dinner. I've been to the restaurant once for dinner and twice for lunch. The dinner tacos are WAY better than the lunch tacos. The last time I went there, I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was burnt and cut up - nothing like the meat that was included in my dinner tacos. I would go there for dinner again, but never for lunch."

  • "For a supposed Mexican restaurant I didn't get that Mexican vibe. I went with a group of friends for Cinco de Mayo and it was very loud. The space is small. You have to squeeze thru the bar to get to the dining area which isn't really separated enough to block out the noise from the bar. The drinks were ok I was not a fan of the peach sangria. The guac was pretty good but the chips were salty. Alot of our meals came out to be salty. They advertise that the rice and beans are served "family style" however it was far from it. The portions were very small. All in all maybe if I was there another night it would be ok but I defintely woud not go back for cinco de mayo."

  • "The food was good, but we've had better at other Mexican restaurants. Our server was extremely pleasant and friendly, but it was very busy so we had to wait for some things we asked for. Was disappointed that they did not have a special Restaurant Week menu. We were told to order from the regular menu but many dishes had an extra surcharge and it was annoying trying to figure out which they were. My partner says the best thing about our dinner was the dessert which he loved. Don't remember the name but it was sort of a small wrap stuffed with cream cheese, plantains and dusted with cinnamon sugar. He said he'd go back just for that...lol! "

  • "They make an outrage cucumber martini! I had 2 of them. We had the table side guac which was superb. I had the fish tacos, they were okay. It lacked flavor. A spicy sauce would have been nice."

  • "My friend told me this was one of her favorite restaurants. I was disappointed. It is extremely noisy, the tables are tight and they have a very limited menu. The service was fair and they were unable to get me the credits on my frequent dining card. I went with my husband and another couple and we were all very unimpressed. Don't think we will be returning. "

  • "This restaurant was recommended to me by my cousin who lived in the neighborhood. We decided to give a try during “restaurant week”. Caracara unlike other restaurant did not make a special menu for the week. Waiter was very nice, attentive to our table. Food was very good. We both thoroughly enjoyed Caracara and will definitely be back and will be passing along the word to try it out."

  • "Service was great ! It was only moderately full , plenty of room . they had our table ready as soon as we arrived. I was there with 11 family members to celebrate my son's birthday. He loves Mexican! The candles and the décor are awesome. However the food lacked what I was looking for in Authentic Mexican food. There was a lack of flavor in a lot of the courses and I felt they added a lot of spice to cover the lack of flavor. I was disappointed in the guacamole it was almost tasteless. Almost everyone at the table order a beef dish , none of us finished it . My son ordered the beef and churiso kebob and his meat was terrible over cooked and extremely fatty, I had to give him the rest of my steak, which I was glad to give away."

  • "I have had open table for a while but have never found it necessary to write a review up until now. This place was perfect I went with a group of girls and everyone thought the food service ambiance was superb. All of us were planning when we were going back to eat with our boyfriends and husbands. The food was fresh and delicious better than any Spanish or Mexican place we've been to on Long Island. I highly recommend this place and cannot wait to go back! Excellent drinks food and service very happy with the experience we had here! Can't wait to return"

  • "First of all this place is very loud. Maybe if youre with a large party its fine but dont expect to have a quiet dinner here. Also, if you are only two people then you will most likely sit in a row seat where you are so close to the people next to you that you feel like you are dining with them. Food is only mediocre in my opinion and the margaritas were way too sour...couldn't even finish it. A fairly disappointing experience."

  • "We absolutely love this place. Found it one day while walking a Farmingdale street fair this summer and have been back at least 10 times since. The food is awesome, the service is excellent (waiters and bartenders), the drinks are delicious (try the jalapeno margarita!!!) All that being said, this place is always packed. Make a reservation or you'll be waiting. And be prepared, the seating is tight, it's not very easy to walk thru and it's very very loud. None of that matters to us because we're not a bunch of cranky complainers. Be prepared for what I noted above but go and enjoy yourselves!!! We will be back very soon!"

  • "Found this place through open table listing and glad we chose to visit. I had the steak sandwich and it was cooked to perfection. My lunch date had the Mexican salad that she loved. Lunch at 2:30 was ideal because there were only a few other guests there, allowing servers to focus on us. Nice decor and very friendly staff. Would definitely go back. If you are near Farmingdale, then you should stop by and give it a try."

  • "Not for those who want to have conversations over dinner. Waitress was very helpful and answered all of our questions. They maximize floor space putting tables extremely close to each other. They even sat 5 people at a small booth meant for 4"
