  • "On a clear night you can see the view to Fire Island. The food was delicious and the service was great! We had a lovely time."

  • "The hostess was rude. The first thing she said was "I assume you don't have a reservation." However, we actually did! Plus, the place was not very busy and had a handful of empty tables the entire time we were there. The waitress service was a little slow, but she was more helpful towards the end of the night when fewer diners were there. It was also interesting to watch another server/busboy(?) wander around the restaurant and then minutes later show up with our appetizers. They could have been warmer if he knew where he was going! The chowder was amazing (always is) and my husband's salmon was excellent. Neither of us liked the stuffed talipia; too much artichoke in the stuffing. However, amazing chocolate cake!"

  • "Bill's is our go-to place. I always feel very special when I'm there. The service is wonderful without being intrusive or pretentious. We look forward to having our favorites but the menu varies so we can count on having something new to try as well."

  • "We were a large party (14) but the waitress was great. She handled all requests promptly. Steak was a big favorite as was the fish dishes. They always have some great specials. Try it ."

  • "Brunch was delicious. Everything on the brunch buffet was so good. We got there when it started at 1130 and didnt have to wait for any of the food or omlet station. It did get crowded after a while but there was plenty of food with two different lines. Im guessing captain bills has a very good reputation with the amount of people who were there. The champagne and mimosas kept coming. I would definitely recommend captain bills for brunch! The view is so nice too!"

  • "Great to enjoy this classic comfortable family dining restaurant - nice menu with updated seafood dishes (this isn't an "all fried" seafood place). Friendly bar too."

  • "We got married at captin bills 2 years ago, the staff started by congratulating us and serving us champagne. Overall service was good, food was very good and the place is still beautiful!"

  • "Although the kitchen was show, the end result was another great meal at Captain Bills. Our server was experienced and attentive. On this date we were there for dinner, but try their Sunday brunch. It is even more amazing."

  • "My party of 4 had a wonderful experience at Captain Bill's. The seafood tower to start was better then expected, everything was perfectly chilled and so fresh. Our service was spot on, the view spectacular, and the food delicious. It was a great evening!"

  • "I made a reservation on Opentable & we arrived at the scheduled time. The hostess sat us, the busboy brought bread & water, and then we sat....and sat.....and sat......until after 15 minutes my husband went to the hostess to determine the problem. Tables around us were being served, but no one came near us. Finally a waitress appeared, said it was not her problem, and then she took quite a while to determine which brands of bourbon the bar stocked. Finally after 30 minutes we received our cocktails. The food was good...as expected, but the server never returned to as if we needed anything. We have been to Capt Bill's many times and would consider it a *neighborhood gem, special occasion, great view* restaurant, but not this time."

  • "We went out for a Birthday with 2 adults and 2 kids. My wife had the chicken bruschetta and she love it. I had a special 3 course combo with soap, Pan seared Tuna and dessert. It was delicious. My kids had chicken fingers and a hamburger, but both were happy. Great scenic view of the ocean. We liked it so much that we booked a party that night. Owner was very helpful."

  • "We usually get a very good meal here, however, this time the fish entrees were very bland. Our friend ordered a steak entrée and she said it was very good. My husband and I both had a fish entrée and were not happy at all."

  • "The grouper was excellent but the baked clams were a bit wet and doughy."

  • "We enjoyed our restaurant week meal very much - having the baked clams & calamari to start. Then our entrees were the steak and the grilled chicken bruschetta. They were delicious, the potatoes were incredible. For dessert - he had the apple crisp and I had the toasted pound cake. It was out of this world. I would return just for that."

  • "From appetizers to desserts, the food was delicious. Especially noteworthy were the baked clams, grouper and delectable scallops. The service was outstanding and the ambiance was quiet with a beautiful view of the marina. Definitely recommend!"

  • "Went during LIRW, remodeled after Sandy, new chairs, which are much more comfortable than their old chairs, which is the only reason we did not dine their more frequently, we will now make it a point to go more often. We were a group of 4 and we all enjoyed our dinners. My only complaint was that the mussels were not very fresh, otherwise everything else was very good."

  • "We were celebrating ours and cousins anniversaries. We had a great time. Food was delicious. The ambiance was great. Our waitress was terrific too. This was our first time but it won't be our last."
    Dined on 11/3/2013
  • "This was the worst restaurant week meal I have ever had! The calamari was good until it cooled off a little at which time it turned into rubber bands. The shrimp has a spongy texture, and the stuffed clam was so "doughy" I couldn't eat it. The flounder and scallops were ok, and so was the dessert. It definitely wasn't worth the gas it took to get there!"

  • "My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for years, and we can always depend on them for delicious entrees and appetizers. Their seafood is always fresh and very well prepared and seasoned, and the prices are reasonable. The waitstaff is also very friendly."

  • "The restaurant was very damp which was a little uncomfortable and their food was better a couple of years ago"

  • "This is our second visit for Sunday brunch. It is well located on the water so the view and setting is comfortable and inviting. The buffet brunch is delicious, good assortment and the supply is endless. My only criticism is that often there are private parties scheduled at the same time and it interferes with the individual tables which are positioned close by or in the same room. This increases the line waiting for the buffet and of course the noise level increases. I would suggest trying to better separate the private parties and individual seatings or when making a reservation ask in advance of their private party schedule."

  • "We had such a wonderful time (as always). We can't wait to come back soon. Love the food and wine assortments. Very friendly and attentive staff."
    Dined on 10/19/2013
  • "They offer a lobster special with a tiny cup of good clam chowder and "allegedly" a 1.5 pound lobster. On both occasions, it looked more like a 1 pound lobster to me. My husband likes to dine in the bar, but it's noisy at the tables there. And, the bartender tries to manage the bar and the tables which makes for spotty service. They have a tough time delivering both meals simultaneously."
    Dined on 8/6/2013
  • "We went for lunch. The clam chowder was delicious; SKIP the lobster bisque. The clams casino were good. The 1.5 lb. lobster was excellent. The bread basket is boring. We elected to sit in the bar, but the bartender pretty much ignored us choosing to chat up her regulars instead. Still, she was nice about exchanging the dreadful lobster bisque with the tasty clam chowder. The chef needs a new recipe for lobster bisque. The price was good."
