  • "Here for restaurant week and the four of us ordered the surf and turf. Our party included a couple going out for the first time after having a baby, and my fiancé and I who are expecting soon. I ordered the $10 extra upgrade ny strip with my meal, everyone else got the tenderloin. The clam chowder to start was good. When the steaks came, they were all cooked well done. The table ordered 2 medium rares and 2 mediums, so this was a problem. We sent back the steaks (the pregnant lady ate hers as she was too hungry to wait). The new steaks came, and this time we were given 2 well done and 1 rare! We spoke to the manager, who was rather curt. Our bill was cut in half, which helps, but since only one ate their dinner should have been less."

  • "My mother, daughter and I came here on a Sunday to kick off restaurant week and our Waitress was Jen. She was very nice and attentive. We chose to sit out side; the view of the lake is very pretty and serene. The food was great; Mother loves their Clam chowder! On Friday, I brought my beau here; we ordered the surf and turf as our entree and added in the garlic mashed potatoes. Our Waiter was Alex and he was also great. The food again was splendid! Please patronize Captain Bill's and other local Restaurant Week establishments during the year and don't forget to tip your Waitstaff accordingly. Us Service Industry Workers appreciate the repeat business and loyalty..."

  • "I really want to like Captain Bills and I was looking forward to dining there. But it falls short of basic expectations. To start with the host staff are very disorganized....much of the time several staff are standing around. Even saw one just lay his head on the counter. The wait staff rushes around so much it's jarring. Doors are banging open constantly. General atmosphere is worn. The food was good, but slow to arrive. Drinks seemed to be pricey."

Being restaurant week it was very busy and Fatima allowed us to take our time and enjoy our meal. She is the reason we are returning two days later to enjoy the great meal again and try the Salmon."

The selection is great, and the food is well prepared and the wait staff very attentive. There is also a very nice deck where one can dine and look at the lake. All in all, Captain Bill's offers great value for the price."

  • "restaurant was very busy on a Thurs. night. Good for Captain Bills. Service was great. Staff was hustling. They accomodated our request for a table on the deck. Beautiful summer evening, and no "skeeters." Food was excellent. Love the clam chowder, dining companion had crab and shrimp stuffed tomato for the appetizer. Surf and turf was very good, and salmon on a plank was too. Only disapointment was they ran out of the key lime pie, but that's understandable given the good turnout"

  • "We had the Turf and Surf deal for restaurant week. While it wasn't as good as the winter restaurant week, it was still very tasty. I suspect the time of year for lobster is better in January. My only disappointment was the chocolate brownie dessert was not very good. The brownie was very dry, almost hard in texture. They should have taken it out of the oven sooner when baking it or maybe it was just old. The ice cream saved it from being inedible. Since we didn't go there for the dessert, that won't stop us from eating there in the future."

  • "I would highly recommend the Tenderloin/Lobster combo served during Restaurant Week. Both were made perfect and the best I had for a long time. The brownie dessert should be smaller or different texture brownie--not large piece of cake that wasn't too tasty, along with a small dip of ice cream. Otherwise I very much enjoyed the experience, as did part of my family that also attended. I have come at other times also and always enjoyed the experience."

  • "We were not at all impressed with Captain Bills. Had a reservation for two and were hoping to sit outside. We were seated inside, near an automatic door for patrons/wait staff. It was very noisy and busy. After getting out drinks, we were asked to move to accomodate a larger party when there were plenty of other tables available that could be pushed together. We ordered and it took over an hour to get our food, while the table of 5 that sat and ordered long after us got their food. Our server was also no where to be found. Our drinks remained empty most of the visit. Food was not cheap and will NOT be back due to the poor service/ambiance."

Manager was our waitress and she was terrible. Never brought us anything unless we asked. Table behind us received a discount for how terrible the service was by their waitress yet we did not. The manager never once apologized and made us pay the full price. Will never come back here again to eat in. I will only get carry out."

  • "I typically don't complain but it has been two times in a row where we have had issues. The first time was with the Mothers Day Brunch. It was over priced, dry prime rib, no staple foods for kids (scrambled eggs, pancakes, ect). My husband sent an email, which he NEVER does and they sent us a gift card. Was very nice of them and we were excited to try them again. We went there for supper at about 6:45pm on Saturday, July 12th.Our table was sticky, like icky feeling sticky, our waitress couldnt get it any less sticky. I had on a strapless sun dress so it was very hard and uncomfortable to sit. We wouldnt write home about either entree and agree never again."

  • "We had the haddock which was recommend. It was tough, dry, and tasted old. We were told by the server that fresh seafood arrived daily. When we asked to speak to a manager we were told she was too busy with bar customers to address our concerns; yet, only two people were sitting at the bar. We were offered free desserts which we declined. We paid the full amount of the check, plus a good tip (it wasn't the servers fault) and left forever. Had they offered us a "fresh" fish our whole experience may have been different."

  • "We were so excited to eat at Captain Bill's. We were seated right away at a table with a great view on the patio (table 99). Although the restaurant was busy, there seemed to be plenty of servers. The problem was that none of them acknowledged our table. Tables seated afterwards were given drinks and acknowledged -- we didn't even get a hello. After 20 minutes, we left... this was the first time we have ever left a restaurant. There were 3 servers standing by the patio door, about 5 feet from where our table was -- they didn't even seem to comprehend that it was their lack of service that was causing us to leave. We went to Joey's seafood instead -- great service, great food, and less expensive too."

  • "A beautiful evening, a birthday celebration, and the patio at Captain Bill's was the perfect combo. Friend, Birthday Girl, and I had a nice table a slight but courteous distance from other diners (we're loud talkers, so we really appreciated that!)... we didn't get the prime view of the water, but we did enjoy the gamboling rabbits on the lawn in front of us. A platter of mussels made a nice starter. I had the scallops, Friend had the broiled haddock, BG had the crab cakes, and we were all very satisfied with our choices. Attentive but relaxed server did a great job making sure we had everything we wanted. Captain Bill's is just enough of a luxury that you feel like it's been a special evening, but it's not a fancy or stuffy restaurant."

  • "The kitchen was short-staffed, so our party of 4 waited a LONG time for what turned out to be pretty mediocre fare. The setting on the lake is pretty, and we sat outside on the balcony, which was nice. But, the "homemade" Hollandaise sauce lacked ANY acid. My petit filet was very good and cooked well, but the vegetables were cold (and after the long wait, we were not about to send them back--we figured we'd never see them again!). An off night. Really, they should have just not accepted walk-ins if they couldn't serve us properly. Then they could have focused on their reserved tables."

  • "Our group of women friends go to Captain Bill's once each year in the summer to sit on the deck eat good food and converse. We all (7 of us) arrived between 6 and 6:15. We all ordered our meals at about 6:20. They finally arrived at about 7:35. Yes, that's right about an hour and 15 minutes later. It is true that there was a large group (15-20 people?) who ordered and then got served ahead of us. But we were served at least 45 minutes after that group had been served. As I looked around I could see that tables of 2-4 people were waiting as long as we had after ordering. When we finally got served two of the people at our table said their food was no long hot but slightly warm. The manager took $20. off. Our group won't go back."
