Caprice BistroI'm not big on long windedI'm not big on long winded reviews. So here's my review of Caprice Bistro in a nutshell:
Eat here! You'll be glad you did.:))5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat's not to love? Our fave server, Jay, duck confit, mussels Brussels-style, the bread, the wine...5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench TwistExcellent menu offerings .. We had Trout & "special" Swordfish dishes.. Both entrees and salAds were exceptional! Will certainly go back!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMVery niceNice authentic French Bistro (so the neon sign was a little jarring - not complaining, mind you).
Wait staff prompt but not dazzling. Food was excellent, mushroom crepe creamy and delicious if a little underseasoned. Unfortunate that they were out of the coq au vin. They keep the wine upstairs (a no-no) which is why the red was too warm, especially for a Beaujolais. Nonetheless, this is a foodie-fit establishment you'll almost certainly appreciate.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMTender is the steakMy first experience at Caprice Bistro and the food was all I had heard it would be. Not to mention they carried my favorite wine selection from Willamette Valley Washington pinot noir! Service was very accommodating since we requested an entrée of pasta as an appetizer which was delicious. The escargot was out of this world!
Definitely a place that I will visit again and again.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AM51st anniversary dinnerMy wife and I could not have been happier celebrating our 51st wedding anniversary at the Caprice Bistro. The selections of entrees were exceptional and the service was outstanding. Our server, Katie, was as pleasant and warm as I've ever encountered while dining out. I'll definitely be back and I'd recommend the Caprice Bistro to my friends and family5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMfavorite downtown dinnerI always enjoy dining at Caprice. The only difficulties are reading the menu in the dim light and then deciding which of the tempting options to choose!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our 1st time @ CapriceThis was our 1st time @ Caprice Bistro But not our last! Very Good!! Seating is a little tight ! But had it not been we might not have gotten the great recommendation on bottle of wine from fella sitting next to us!!Although our waiter agreed and was very knowledgeable of the wines! Everything was good Fresh and only wish we lived closer to try more often!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAmong the BestCaprice is among the best in dining in Wilmington. Although it may be a little harder to get to due to the parking, it is worth the effort. The food is well prepared with a great presentation, the wine list worthy, and the service is attentive. It is worth the few extra dollars and time to go. I would suggest an upstairs seating if you want more privacy.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCaprice never ceases to amaze.Caprice never ceases to amaze. Love the choices of food. Something for every 'foodie.' Chef uses local food and fresh catches. Highly recommend and suggest reservations.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBrilliantWithout a doubt one of the best restaurants I've dined at. Food was superb. Staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and professional..can't wait to return. Highly recommend it.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent French Touch in WilmingtoCaprice was classic french in that the meals were good portions but not too large, they were all served hot and plated with a flare. The mussels to start the meal are a must. Wow. Try the house special. Make sure to get a reservation, I used OpenTable and it was quick. This place is great and stays busy. Nice bar upstairs after you finish.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWhy don't we go there more? This is the third anniversary in a row that we have gone to Caprice, and it just gets better and better. The endive salad with beet dressing is fabulous, the Grouper special had the most amazing acidic sauce and the steaks are always cooked perfectly. Every year we say we will go back before our anniversary, but never seem to, but with the value for the quality, we will definitely go back. Plus, now there is seating in the sofa bar, which I enjoyed more than downstairs, so that is a plus. An excellent choice for authentic French cuisine in Wilmington that is reasonably priced and not too loud.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFIRST TIME, BUT NOT OUR LASTWe had a wonderful meal, and the service was great.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent French Belgian dishes.Excellent French Belgian dishes. I love the waterzooi and pork cheeks - seasoning tasty and sure handed without over doing the spices. Gracious owner/hostess makes a big difference in making you feel welcome4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Restaurant in WilmingtonMy husband and I thoroughly enjoyed dinner at this restaurant. The service was great, the seating and table very comfortable, and the dinner itself was superb. We were only in Wilmington for a "weekend getaway" and this was a highlight of our weekend. Will definitely be going there again.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very good. ServiceFood was very good. Service seemed to start off with a "distant French attitude", but evolved nicely and was very good. Small and quaint. Noisy, but acceptable. We will return.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat an incredible restaurant! What an incredible restaurant! This dining adventure was certainly memorable. From the delicious martinis to the decadent dessert, we were in foodies' heaven. My husband raved about the mussels, and I loved the pate appetizer. My entre of Waterzooi was definitely one of the best dishes I've ever had, as was the duck that my husband ordered. The chocolate mousse topped off an absolutely incredible meal. I cannot say enough about this wonderful restaurant. The service was great, the ambiance was lovely, and the food was out of this world. We will certainly return to Caprice Bistro. Hopefully, this will become one of our regular "haunts". Can't wait to go again.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways fantastic - best restaurantAlways fantastic - best restaurant in Wilmington!

As I write this I am wishing I was dining there tonight....4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely placeWe went to Caprice Bistro to celebrate our anniversary. The owners are very nice people. Patricia is very friendly and greeted us warmly, as always. The food was excellent. We enjoyed the escargot, the salmon and the trout. The dining room is very cozy and is full of energy. They also have a really cool sofa bar upstairs with excellent cocktails and great service. Try the French 75 martini! We will definitely come back here again.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Dining ExperienceAtmosphere was great and service was excellent. Owners are very accommodating and friendly. We've eaten in France, and this restaurant is right there. Bread, wine, salads, crepes, trout, dessert (mousse) were all excellent. Coffee was the best I've ever had. Service attentive and unobtrusive. A perfect meal.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBy far, our go-to place for dinnerMy husband and I have been going to Caprice since we moved here four years ago - the food is always delicious and the service, impeccable. Whether we're in the mood for a quiet table, meeting a small group of friends or just up for some interesting conversation at the bar, Caprice never fails to disappoint. Pork cheeks, coq au vin and of course the mussels are among our favorite dishes and the cocktails are some of the more inventive ones. Also a great bar menu!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThere is not a negative wordThere is not a negative word one can state about Caprice. Great Fixed price menu.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely delicious!Best meal in Wilmington! The Waterzooi was incredible...def try the mussels too! We saw this restaurant on PBS's NC Weekend. Excellent find!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMJust the best! After discovering this wonderful gem on a house-hunting visit to the area, we have returned time after time. Had our wedding dinner here, our first anniversary also, and have now moved here permanently. Have only had one small issue in all those years, and it was taken care of immediately by one of the owners along with her sincere thanks. We feel like family here and have never been disappointed by the cuisine. The ambience is like most French or Belgian bistros I have visited. Can't say enough positive things about Caprice!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding traditional bistroOutstanding traditional bistro experience. All the right things on the menu and what we tried as well executed. Waiter was extremely attentive and very helpful with both food and wine selections. Prices reasonable.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI saw the review on PBS ChapelI saw the review on PBS Chapel Hill NC market and was impressed with the menu and had a scheduled trip to Wilmington. The food was every bit as good as portrayed on tv and so much better. The young waitress was very professional and yet personable and engaging.
It was one of the best dining experiences I have had in years. The cuisene was excellent representations of French country peaseant food, very hearty, very flavorful, masterfully seasoned with fresh herbs in a very nice balance. I intend on being a regular patron and will extoll your virtues. Thank you. The menu had a great selection of French Cuisine and a full bar service. Everything was exceptional and would definitely return again.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was my first time diningIt was my first time dining at the restaraunt. If it wasn't part of Restaraunt Week I might not have ever gone. I enjoyed every part of the meal and it was my first time trying frog legs and duck. It was very good. I will return in the future to try something different.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love this restaurant -We love this restaurant - it feels like a European Bistro. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. We try to eat there whenever we are in Wilmington.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMakes you want to go out for dinnerWe occasionally visit Wilmington; this was our first visit to Caprice. We picked it because of positive reviews on another site, and because French-oriented bistro food and setting sounded right. It was. A grown up staff with a good balance of personal and business-like. Perfect martinis. Maybe the best charcuterie platter in memory - could be a light dinner. The lamb shank entre was generous and delicious; my wife's trout was delightful (though she raved most about the risotto it was served over).
It's great to find a restaurant that has everything going for it. Keep it up, Caprice!
BTW - you have to search Coastal North Carolina on OpenTable; there is no separate Wilmington listing, which is confusing.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMbon appétit!Very good French cuisine, I really enjoyed eating here and so did our clients.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery visit to WilmingtonEvery visit to Wilmington is not complete without a trip to Caprice . Much shorter trip then the flight to Paris.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI've spent a grand total ofI've spent a grand total of 6 nights in Wilmington over two visits and four of those were spent dining at Caprice. The authentic bistro experience and level of cooking that Caprice provides consistently are rare, even in much larger cities. The place is full of interesting, mostly local afficionados who obviously understand and appreciate the quiet sophistication and attention to detail found in this true gem of a restaurant operated as a labor of love by its gracious hosts and capable serving staff. Definately not for the Olive Garden enthusiast. A real treasure awaits you.1/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe returned here for our firstWe returned here for our first wedding anniversary, having dined here on our wedding day. The Caprice is our favorite place to dine: the specials are truly special, the "everyday" menu is outstanding and very fairly priced for the quality and care evidenced in each entree'. There is always a warm welcome at the door; we'll be returning many times in future!1/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
