A word from Caprice Bistro
Thierry and Patricia Moity were previous owners of Patou Bistro in Charlotte, NC and Cafe de Bruxelles in New York City.

Delight in Chef Thierry Moity's traditional French cuisine. Chef Moity, who has been cooking since age 13 in some of the finest French restaurants in Europe and New York City. The French cuisine is influenced by a combination of traditions-Patricia comes from the northern part of France near the Belgium border, while Thierry's origins are deeply rooted in the central provinces of the country.

According to Chef Moity, the food is served fast paced and in generous portions." I want everyone to feel welcome in my restaurant". We are working against the stereotype that French food must be intimidating and expensive.

Whether I'm meeting girlfriends midweek or enjoying a special occasion dinner with my husband, Caprice is always the perfect spot! The ambience, service, and of course the food, are truly exceptional. A few of my favorite dishes include: Mussels Mariniere, Trout Caroline, Waterzooi, and the endive salad. Also worth noting is very reasonable pricing for high quality gourmet fare!"

  • "Two years ago when I was staying at a B&B in the historic area I came upon Caprice and had dinner there. Now I live in Wilmington and everyone who visits me is treated to a dinner at Caprice. For over 30 years I lived in Germany and could go to France for lunch. I traveled in France many times and finding food as good as that at Caprice is not easy!"

  • "Came here for anniversary dinner because it was recommended by our B&B host, and we could get a reservation. Had a wonderful dinner starting with appetizer (smoked seafood, gazpacho) and main course Waterzooi and crepe (mushroom). All were excellent as well as the service. They explained the menu, perfectly timed the courses and checked in to make sure all was well. An excellent dining experience."

My French Martini was perfect as was the special salad of the day tomato, goat cheese and balsamic! Two of us had the Coq Au Vin, which was good as always.   • "Wow!! We (party of 3) had an absolutely delightful meal and a wonderful time at Caprice Bistro on a Thursday evening. We were seated upstairs next to a window overlooking downtown which was lovely. The atmosphere was lovely and decor beautiful. There is a lovely bar upstairs with a number of dining tables as well as sofa seating. Beautiful original artwork. The real gem was the quality of our meals and the service. Everything was just fabulous. We ordered wine, a cheese board appetizer, salads, entrees, and desserts. Not one single thing about any aspect of our meal was off. The service was terrific. I recommend most highly and will absolutely return the next time in Wilmington!"

I had the Coq au Vin - which was not bad but it was lacking in wine - the sauce was watery and greasy no what a lavish wine reduction would normally be. My wife ate the rabbit a la moutard ... she got two legs instead of one leg and breast ... she felt the mustard sauce was not fresh. My son ate the pork lion which was actually very good. The food arrived and was not warm. The deserts were also very"

  • "Enjoyed our first visit to Caprice Bistro. Wine list was substantial with many European favorites. Rose was crisp and moderately acidic; a nice alternative not generally found in most restaurants. Started with crepe au fromage and it was excellent-delectable, light crepe was perfectly prepared and the medley of cheeses were taste tantalizing. Mussels in curry sauce were succulent. The fresh sprigs of thyme were "interesting" but to enjoy the thyme one had to harvest the herb. Bread was crusty and served with a mixed oil and balsamic. Pomme frittes served with the mussels. Very enjoyable salad selections Dessert was wonderful--had the creme anglaise with a raspberry coulis--outstanding! And yes this restaurant has very good cappuccino."

We ordered the Pork Tenderloin accompanied by mashed potatoes preceded by salads. All food was well prepared and had a pleasing plating apperance. The dessert list offered several classic French style selections and we found both items we had as very good. The wait staff was attentive and service time was not rushed as it was a Tuesday evening. A well rounded wine list is available as well as a full bar. The price value is in the high side with dinner for two with a glass of wine and a mixed drink,salads, entrees and dessert totaling $90.00 plus taxes. A good find in a city dominated by burger and pizza places."

  • "I'm not from Wilmington and visited with my boyfriend for dinner after hearing great recommendations. We were seated in a cozy spot by the front window, and had great service the entire night! The chairs were very far apart across the table for our liking and we felt we had to lean in to talk to one another, but other than that, we loved everything about the restaurant. I got the pork dish, which was very good but not particularly special, and my boyfriend got the duck confit, which was wonderful. We also got a class of wine each, and prices for both food and drink were very reasonable. We would highly recommend this restaurant (especially the duck) to anyone wanting a special and fun night out!"

  • "The Tuesday night special was boeuf bourguignon, and it was delicious. As I love this dish I have ordered in numerous restaurants in the US and France. Also, my wife makes a great one based on a Julia Child recipe. The one at Caprice may be the best I ever had. And their house wine was a delicious Rhone and cost only $28 for a bottle."

  • "If you crave traditional French bistro food, Caprice Bistro is your place. In the heart of old Wilmingtom, NC, the bar/lounge is upstairs, a perfect place for a pre-dinner libation. Seated for dinner downstairs in the dining room, we enjoyed attentive service by knowledgeable staff. Our entrees varied from steak frites to duck confit.I had the special swordfish with a savory mushroom sauce. The starters exceeded expectations: escargot, country pate, grilled romaine salad. The only disappointment was that they were out of mussels, which they famously offer with three different sauces. If I ever find myself in Wilmington again, I will head back to Caprice for my French bistro fix, mussels and all."

The courses were timed perfectly, the menu choices exceptional, service was top notch, food was delicious and served so hot that we enjoyed it to the last bite!! I had requested a private table for the four of us. We were led upstairs to an eclectic, relaxing atmosphere, which gave us the privacy to have good conversation. And, we were given seats at the window. Their attention to my request was obvious, which we so appreciated. Caprice Bistro is becoming one of our top "go to" restaurants in Wilmington! Thank you management and staff at CP for providing us an exceptional dining experience!"

  • "Small place with tables close together. Food was great. Our server was just doing his job. We learned of the specials from another server at the table beside ours. Yes, I said they are close together, They are. Our table had 4 different Entrees and they were all great. French Martini was good, Cocktail was small. Only complaint I have is they take the French Onion Soup off the menu in the summer. "
