A word from Caprice Bistro
Thierry and Patricia Moity were previous owners of Patou Bistro in Charlotte, NC and Cafe de Bruxelles in New York City.

Delight in Chef Thierry Moity's traditional French cuisine. Chef Moity, who has been cooking since age 13 in some of the finest French restaurants in Europe and New York City. The French cuisine is influenced by a combination of traditions-Patricia comes from the northern part of France near the Belgium border, while Thierry's origins are deeply rooted in the central provinces of the country.

According to Chef Moity, the food is served fast paced and in generous portions." I want everyone to feel welcome in my restaurant". We are working against the stereotype that French food must be intimidating and expensive.

  • A great bistro in Wilmington

A delightful vibrant bistro. There is an energy in the restaurant created by both the staff and patrons. The dinner was superb. There is a good wine selection and wines by the glass were very high quality. The menu has a broad range of French favorites. The tomato tart was a superb appetizer. My wife greatly enjoyed the vegetarian crepe while I had a steak and frites that was cooked to just the right temperature. We shared an excellent pear tart for desert.

We just had our anniversary dinner at Caprice Bistro and had an excellent experience. We ate upstairs in the near the lounge area and the ambiance was really good. The service was attentive, but not overbearing. We had a appetizer trio that included duck liver pate, seared tuna, and french cheeses. All were really good. I had the steak frites (strip steak) and my wife had mussels. Mine was excellent and hers was good as well. My only minor complaint is that some of the mussels were cooked a little too long, but it was a large plate and I know its difficult to get them all to open at the same time. We would definitely eat here again.

My wife and I really enjoyed our 10 Year Anniversary Dinner. We arrived early and enjoyed a cocktail at up stairs bar. We met a nice couple that was having dinner at the bar and gave great recommendation. They had our table set and ready right on time. I had asked for the perfect table and they kindly sat us window seat. The tomato app was awesome! Filet was incredible and wife had a pork tenderloin dish that was great. We had great service and just a great night overall.

This restaurant is horribly noisy. The food is good, the service can be good, but it is so noisy that people are shouting to be heard, which makes it even noisier. The tables are very close together, which coupled with the lack of soft surfaces to absorb the noise, conversation is next to impossible. The air conditioning duct which runs uncovered on the ceiling, throws air directly down on those sitting on the banquette. We were there on a Sunday night and the restaurant was not quite full, but the noise level was high. Fewer tables, carpets on the floor, and a better grouping of tables would make this restaurant a real standout.

Visited Wilmington to celebrate a recent anniversary and made a point of making a reservation at Caprice Bistro. Our table was downstairs and my wife asked if we could be seated upstairs and they were able to get us seated upstairs in a very nice and relaxing dining area. We started with calamari followed by mushroom crepe, onion tart and grouper entree. Each dish was better than the last including the creme brulee and coffee to finish a great meal. Staff were amazing and we had a very memorable evening.

Had a very good dinner at Caprice this past Friday night. Service was very good. Main courses were excellent, one of us had the steak which was cooked to the proper degree and my husband had the lamb shank which was also excellent. Perhaps the only flaw was the heirloom tomato salad which was the special that night, several of the tomatoes were not ripe and it wasn't worth the price. Overall, a lovely dinner at a restaurant we have been to several times and it doesn't disappoint!

We have lived in Wilmington for 8 years and have never been to Caprice Bistro. Our loss! What fantastic food, reasonably priced, and attentive but not overbearing service. We had the mussels mariniere for an appetizer, steak frites, trout, and the bistro steak. All beautifully presented. We were lucky enough to get the window table, which was nice not having people sitting too close to our group of four. We treated our our of town guests and they couldn't stop talking about this spot! We will look forward to eating at Caprice again!

We came to Caprice Bistro with high expectations. It was rated among the best in the area. We had already eaten during our five day visit to Wilmington at some of the best restaurants on the riverfront. Caprice Bistro had the best food of them all. We would not only recommend this restaurant, but intend to go back there on our next return. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and we expected them to be much higher. A definite gem.

If you want utterly delectable dishes served in a casual and welcoming atmosphere, then try Caprice Bistro. Attentive but not cloying waitstaff, and great variety of menu offerings and prices--exactly what a bistro should be. Everyone in our group was most pleased with their meals, especially the steak, fish and savory crepes. We all had a taste of the Triple Chocolate Mousse for dessert--small portion, but sublime. We shall return, avec plaisir!

Again, a wonderful dinner @ Caprice. I had the mussels w/white wine & garlic sauce. I just wish there had been more bread to soak up the yummy sauce. My husband had the delectable duck, my son's lamb was cooked superbly and his girlfriend really liked the pasta and rabbit. I did not care for their cosmopolitan, but the profiteroles were outrageously good! Caprice is a great food find!

But bring a warm wrap! The food is wonderful-sublime, presentation is attractive. The tomato tart and Bistro steak are both favorites, but the Coq au vin, Onion soup, and Salmon are also notable. I love the Pomme Frites, but the air conditioning was so cold it froze out my potatoes, and me. This restaurant offers attentive, but not intrusive, service; I cannot comment on the wine list since I do not drink. The front window seat is my favorite, but you have to reserve this specially. Caprice is a little gem in Wilmington, I don't think anyone would regret it.

Caprice is one of our favorite restaurants in Wilmington - we have always been pleased with the food, service and ambiance. We each had a cocktail - delicious and potent - and shared the grilled romaine salad. I had the pasta of the day, which was a primavera with good flavor, although it could have used more vegetables. My husband had the waterzooi, a house specialty, which he said was very good. We split a nice bottle of 2011 Cotes du Rhone. You can't go wrong at Caprice!

Whether I'm meeting girlfriends midweek or enjoying a special occasion dinner with my husband, Caprice is always the perfect spot! The ambience, service, and of course the food, are truly exceptional. A few of my favorite dishes include: Mussels Mariniere, Trout Caroline, Waterzooi, and the endive salad. Also worth noting is very reasonable pricing for high quality gourmet fare!
