A word from Capriccio Saratoga
Capriccio Saratoga, sibling to Albany's renowned Cafe Capriccio, serves authentic Neapolitan cuisine including wood fired pizza (Vera Pizza Napolitana) assorted antipasti rustica, traditional regional pastas, bountiful main courses, and fabulous homemade desserts. Saratoga's most exciting new restaurant operated by Jim and Franco Rua. The Rua family restaurants have been Capital Region favorites for more than 35 years. Outdoor seating. Ideally located next to Congress Park. Already regarded as one of the area's finest restaurants, and a local favorite.

Franco and I love the cuisine of Napoli and it's people. We have visited the Campania region many times and are delighted to present Capriccio Saratoga as our tribute to Napoli, an exciting city filled with love, sunshine, great conviviality and fabulous food. Jim Rua

  • Capriccio - not quite the same
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014
    Dined on 11/21/2014
The restaurant was always upscale, intimate atmosphere with great food. The food is still great, however, the atmosphere is not the same. extremely loud laughter at the tables and loud talking at the tables was rather distracting. The wait staff was fine, but, lacked the polish of past wait people.

  • Overpriced for what it is...

This is a nice spot with a lot of energy. But to be honest the food was not that impressive. A $10 dinner salad was really no different from a $5-$6 salad at any other place. We also had a beet salad which was uninspired. The steak was good, but not $30 worth of good...

Small charming restaurant with excellent customer service. We had a party of 8 on a Friday night which they accommodated nicely. Menu is limited but not lacking. Food is excellent. I had the spaghetti fruitti di mare which was generous and well prepared; their red sauce was amazing and fresh. The meatballs (husband's appetizer) were the best I ever had. Nice wine list with a good variety of italian wines. Very reasonable food and wine prices. Will definitely return.

Five people enjoyed a very nice dinner Sunday evening. We needed to catch up with each other's news, so requested the volume be turned down on the music; other diners of the same age range (over 50) so we were not stepping on anyone else's preference for volume. We loved our wine selection and each chose one of the specials, which we found to be delicious. a cod dish and raviolis with smoked mozzarella. With the sides both dishes made a very complete meal. The sides were good also, risotto and a nice veggie selection. Our b'day girl received a nice dessert. We have been before and will return. Staff most accommodating and cheerful.

Very pleasant evening. Prices reasonable and food very good. The appetizers and entrees were good but the gourmet pizza stole the show. The crust was the most delicious I've ever experienced in a pizza. The toppings were fresh and flavorful as well. Atmosphere cozy and if there was excess noise it was coming from our table.

We stumbled on this restaurant while we were on a photography shoot in Congess Park. Great appetizers and small plates, with very fresh ingredients. The personal pizzas will feed two, with a salad or app. Specials are imaginative, using ingredients in season, and very good. Prices are very reasonable.

It is easy to eat well in Saratoga but this place stands out. I love the atmosphere; romantic and real. It's also a nice neighborhood bar. No qualms about eating here, the dishes while Italian, are original and very well executed. You can see that they care. The clam sauce was excellent, 12 whole clams on pasta. Everything looked above average as it went by. It's warm ambience and not such a commercial attitude makes it a repeat.

This was my first time at Saratoga Capricco's. I have eaten at it's Albany location for years. My experience at Saratoga was not a disappointment. From the time we walked through the door, greeted immediately by the hostess seated at our table to the delicious meal served and the "come back again" everything was perfect.

Capriccio was voted "best pizza in the Capital Region" by the weekly paper Metroland, but the wood-fired pizza did not live up to these standards. Our pies were soggy in the middle, the toppings gloopy. The artichoke & prosciutto pizza had good flavor but a sparse amount of proscuitto and far too much cheese, resulting in an underwhelming flavor. Perhaps the rest of the menu is better than the pizzas!

  • Undercooked chicken
    siciliana
    Dined on 7/27/2014
2 roasted chicken entree arrived undercooked - pink/red, running blood near bone. Chef's explanation [as opposed to an apology] was that "free range chickens can be that color [red/pink] even when they are cooked." Waitress added, "but we cooked it some more for you anyway." Hmm, interesting piece of information about free range chicken! who knew? Chef's lack of professionalism and integrity was disappointing to say the least. An apology and correction would have sufficed. Instead we were offered a dishonest, not to mention ridiculous response. Our advice to the chef: Embrace honesty and humility and you will exceed beyond your expectations. On the other hand, duplicity and pride will only contribute to your premature demise.

My wife booked us at Capriccios' for my birthday. We arrived early. Great atmosphere. Quiet. Waitstaff were friendly and informative. Food was absolutely delicious. Wonderful appetizers, great wine and out of the park entrees! This is our new favorite restaurant!

A great restaurant with good service and excellent food. Generally quiet. The booths are not as comfortable as the table seating. There is a discrepancy between their online wine list and the list presented in the restaurant (which is more extensive). The overall atmosphere is more friendly than romantic, but the quality of the food makes up for everything.
