A word from Capriccio Saratoga
Capriccio Saratoga, sibling to Albany's renowned Cafe Capriccio, serves authentic Neapolitan cuisine including wood fired pizza (Vera Pizza Napolitana) assorted antipasti rustica, traditional regional pastas, bountiful main courses, and fabulous homemade desserts. Saratoga's most exciting new restaurant operated by Jim and Franco Rua. The Rua family restaurants have been Capital Region favorites for more than 35 years. Outdoor seating. Ideally located next to Congress Park. Already regarded as one of the area's finest restaurants, and a local favorite.

Franco and I love the cuisine of Napoli and it's people. We have visited the Campania region many times and are delighted to present Capriccio Saratoga as our tribute to Napoli, an exciting city filled with love, sunshine, great conviviality and fabulous food. Jim Rua

Diner Reviews
  • "You always know that the food will be excellent and that's why I like to bring out of towners to Capriccio."
    Dined on 7/7/2014
  • "Average Italian food at higher price. Noise level was very high . It's very small and two very loud groups made it impossible to carry on a conversation. Temperature was too high- we were all sweating by the time we finished. Decent but average food especially at the price. There are better spots to eat in Saratoga"

  • "Make reservations, it's a small, intimate place for a great dinner. We have always been more than satisfied with the food and service, great bar too."

  • "Ravioli - on the specials menu - was exceptional. Dinner companion went off menu and staff was very accommodating, combining appetizer meatballs (delicious) with entree spaghetti."

  • "Friday night we had dinner at Capriccio Saratoga with friends. It was the first time we had been there and we were somewhat disappointed. My wife ordered the Fruitt de Marre and it was tasteless and some of the seafood was very chewy. On the positive side, our friend had the clam pizza and it was excellent. I ordered the eggplant which was okay, but the portion was not very large for the price."

  • "We just wanted a great pizza in Saratoga, with a bar. We got all three plus some really great Italian dishes! The eggplant appetizer although small, was perfection! The pizza selection was like none I had ever seen, fresh meats and cheeses made in premises. Because all orders are made fresh, even a garlic allergy was accommodated. We will definitely be back!"

  • "Capriccio was overall an ok dining experience. Came to the restaurant after reviewing their great wine list online, only to find that they've reduced the number of wines significantly. After that mildly disappointing discovery I also found my ravioli to be undercooked. The saving grace was our server who put up with us and alleviate some of our disappointment. I probably won't have dinner here again but would definitely come back for the gelato and drinks - the espresso martini! The staff was great, food and atmosphere leave a little bit to be desired unfortunately."

  • "Wonderful authentic italian food. The menu is small because everything is made fresh, but there is something for everyone. Both my wife and I and our two kids (ages 10 & 12) love coming here."

  • "We are frequent patrons of this o=wonderful restaurant. The food is authentically Italian and made with fresh ingredients with the perfect balance of spices so that the natural flavors of the food come through. The service is always friendly and parking is easy in that part of town."

  • "I wanted to like this place since I always enjoyed their Albany location but $12 martini's..really? $25 for Stuffed Eggplant? $12 for a salad? Food was very good but you don't need to pay these prices (especially off season) for good food, considering all of the other options in town. "

  • "Food was barely when it arrived. I asked to have it warmed and received it back no warmer than it had been."

  • "As long-time fans of Cafe Capriccio in Albany, wife and I finally got around to trying the Saratoga edition. Capricciosa pizza, with prosciutto, artichokes and fresh mozz was very tasty, but a bit undercooked, and lacked the crispness and char marks that the 1000 degree oven should have provided. Rigatoni and sausage arrabiata again was quite flavorful, marred only by the fact that wife's request to go a bit lightly with the hot cherry peppers resulted in a dish that seemed to lack any at all. Either our request wasn't specific enough or something was lost in translation. Still a solid dish, just nowhere near arrabiata. Orange Italian cheese cake was decent, but could have used more orange zest. Nice casual atmosphere, attentive service. "

  • "We chose this restaurant to celebrate a special graduation event because we have previously had excellent experiences at the Albany location. The food was spectacular and setting was both comfortable and elegant. "

  • "Our dinner with visitors was another great Capricio experience. The staff are so friendly and the food so good we look forward to dining there alne and with friends. Just a special place!"

  • "Our second visit allowed us to sit outside. Excellent wait staff. While our waiter was busy with another table, the other waitress cleared our appetizer plate. Rare occurrence. Bartender was only to happy to explain how the espresso machine worked. Many of the food items are wood roasted in a true stone oven which also is used to make small pizzas. Small restaurant which allows "special" attention to the customer. We love this hidden gem!"

  • "The food was very good--one of my daughters and I had the Chicken Positano--the lemon sauce was excellent! The other had the Rainbow Trout, also very good. Took a while to get our drinks, but they were fine--although the Saratoga lemonade packed a greater kick than expected. We had a late dinner but the restaurant was lively, even well after dinner time. All in all, worth a visit!"

  • "There is a very limited menu. For the size of the restaurant (very small) and amount of tables occupied, service was slow. The food was average and parking is an issue if you choose to go here. Plan an extra 20 minutes or so to hope to obtain a parking spot. "

  • "A little biased because we spent 3 years in Naples, Italy living off from the local cuisine but this restaurant was a little off the mark for the hype on their website. The menu was pricey for the content and quality. The "fruit of the sea" had a red sauce and a few chunks of seafood - not as described. The caprese salad had long slices of mozzarella with tomato wedges on top with very little olive oil and seasoning. Who uses wedges from a salad tomato in a caprese and calls themselves Italian... The pizza was good but the "Capriciossa Saratoga" had a very salty (non-typical) olive and the prosciutto was too smokey and salty. I have been looking for a capriciossa pizza for 8 months so I think my expectations are high but I was disappointed."

  • "On a night with very few customers, the manager spent his time sitting/talking with a very loud table for 30 minutes, disturbing the rest of us. "

  • "The food was impeccable, the service excellent and ambiance top notch. I will definitely be making this one of my go to spots. Highly recommend."

  • "Waiter (ROB) was exceptional at describing each meal. He made each one sound so good. Rob was able to find some gluten free items, and egg free items. The food was just as described!"

  • "We were out-of-towners in Saratoga and came to Capriccio Saratoga after reading some reviews, including OpenTable. We had a meatball appetizer and pizza, and both were excellent. The restaurant is small but did not feel crowded. My red wine (Sardinia) was a cut above the usual wine by the glass. The service was both friendly and efficient. All in all, a fine choice that left us happy and satisfied. We will return the next time we are in Saratoga (and have recommended it to Saratoga friends)."

  • "Using fresh, local ingredients really makes a difference! Service was spot on, fantastic wine list, and quiet cozy atmosphere. We will definitely eat here again!"

  • "Sauce, as in tomato, is the most important ingredient in an Italian restaurant...we had pizza, eggplant and a Ragu the sauce was wonderful, thus a great meal experience!"

  • "My wife and I took my father there for his birthday. While my wife did a series of small plates, my father and I split the calamari neri and the Neapolitana Pizza. The kitchen got the pizza wrong on the first try, but because the pizza is made in a wood fired oven the correct pizza came out about 90 seconds later and perfectly cooked. We really enjoy both restaurants – Albany and Saratoga – but for pizza, the Capriccio in Saratoga is the place to go."

  • "Once seated waiter came to take entree' order and never asked about appetizers. Had to ask twice about a second glass of wine, and then the Lobster Risotto was not good. Wasn't creamy or loose and seemed more like a Rice Pilaf. Once finished with our entree's waiter took and extremely long time to remove the empty plates from our table. I would not return to this restaurant."

  • "My husband was stuck in Denver on Valentines Day, so we celebrated a day late at Capriccio Saratoga. We had a nice table for two and enjoyed wine, a nice meal and a cappuccino. The food was delicious - the only criticism I have is that I feel that my entree was overpriced. My husband had lobster risotto, which he gave an 8 out of 10, and I had the cod special. Our dinners both ran $30. The cod was fresh and cooked well, but cod, a few roasted potatoes and vegetables did not taste like a $30 meal. We will return, but we'll probably stick with the wood fired pizza and salad."

  • "A very good Italian restaurant with friendly, attentive staff and a lot of local regulars. (It's also popular with tourists in the summer season.) We've been there three times and always had excellent meals."

  • "We were looking for good Italian food with friends on a Friday evening. Food was wonderful. Also had a bottle of Chianti Classico which was excellent. Only negative was music was too loud and energetic for a dining experience. We could not hear each other across the table until I asked the waitress to reduce volume, which she did promptly...but it was still intrusive. This is a minor issue that the owners can rectify easily, and we hope they do because the food is really great."

  • "Was our first time having dinner here and we were very pleased with the atmosphere, food selection and service. They have a great cab franc and there eggplant is incredible as well as there rigatoni with sweet sausage. Robbie our server was great!"

  • "Capriccio's is small so we were very happy they could accamodate our party of 12. Brittiney was our server and she did an outstanding job given the crowd. Food was wonderful - we had a variety of selections and our food all came out together. We do wish they had at least one selection of non alcoholic beer but aside from that we were well taken care of."

  • "Was a littlemdisappointed with the food. I had an amazing braised beef with a fabulous red wine sauce. The problem was the chef paired it with steamed broccoli, red peppers, and onions. There were two herb roasted potaos, but they were undercooked. Not great by any stretch of the imagination."
