This restaurant is ok for breakfast; however, do not recommend it for dinner. Prices are reasonable, but the food quality is mediocre to poor. My wife had the crab cakes which were heavy on filler and almost totally lacking in crab taste. My Filet Mignon was cooked properly, but had been too heavily seasoned with teriyaki sauce which detracted from the flavor of the meat.

My girlfriend and I were staying at the resort, and I had a restaurant credit for Capri so we thought why not try it? Service was attentive from start to finish. We had the dips for an appetizer, The hummus was the best of the three, with the tapenade just a little too salty. I had the Frutti di Mare in White Wine sauce w/ salad and a sausage on the side, while she had the Top Sirloin w/ a baked potato and Cheddar Broccoli soup. The Frutti di Mare was excellent as was the sausage, with the salad being alright, I just didn't see it coming with pickled beets. My GF loved the soup and her steak though, I was surprised how much of it she ate since she usually doesn't take out that much on her own. The Cannoli for desert was excellent.

We have been coming here a long time, the staff is friendly and the food is always good. But i did use open table for reservation a special table. But the girl at the desk didn't even bother To look at our reservation, and that table was taken, not a big deal, but really why even bother to Make a reservation if no one is checking. Over all the best place in town to eat.

Were put at table by door to the patio and there was a draft. Asked that door be closed or moved to another table. Door opened frequently so asked to be moved. Moved one table away and told that no way that they could set up another table for six - yet there were many tables which could be easily moved. New table was under vent and it was also drafty! Were told thermostat was set at 76F - more like 56F! Noticed other diners left to put on jackets! Food was mediocre except for one diner's meal of ribs which was undercooked. This was sent back, but it was still not cooked properly and could not be eaten. That meal was comped, but overall there was a " could not care less" attitude from the staff. We are local residents and will not be back.

In the face of weak reviews, we tried this place because the owner (?) seemed to reply to the negative reviewers and gave the impression of seeking high standards. Sadly, this is not what we experienced. After being seated, we were assured water was forthcoming. We had to ask three times for water. And then ask for a carafe since no one offered to refill our glasses. People - this is the desert - offer water! Supposedly known for their steaks, we ordered the filet. What a disappointment! Small, tough, overcooked and with hint a teriyaki (or some other "seasoning"). DHS is a tough town for restaurants. This is not one to try.

Although the food was excellent, the service was poor. when we were sit we waited 15 minutes for a wait staff. the table was not set-up. after placing the order, I also order tea. Ask the server if he could bring me some sugar, he never brought any. I do not if they were short-hand or what, but there were a lot of people not satisfied with the service.

Three of us who live locally decided that this year we would go out for Thanksgiving, and take a break from feasts past. The Capri restaurant was a good choice! Located on the Miracle Springs property, not too many spa goers on Thanksgiving, but they were lined up at registration as we left. The menu was simple with traditional turkey dinners, and they offered Prime Rib or half a roasted duck. All in all this satisfied all of us and we were well fed. The waitress was excellent as well. We will go back and we will recommend the Capri highly; good food, inexpensive, not crowded. Happy Thanksgiving to the staff that had to work that day. JP

Dinner was $13.00. Picture showed pie...pie was extra. Picture showed a sumptuous plate of food. We ordered and it came out in about 1 minute and looked like it came off a cafeteria line. Mashed potatoes? Smaller than a golf ball. Service? We had a reservation and asked the server (Mayra) if we could sit in main dining room but were told we could not. After we asked why people who were ahead of us and had no reservation were put in main dining room, she was so rude and said they had to keep it even. There were approx. 3 parties in each room! We saw down dejectedly and she sailed over in a few minutes and said we could sit in main room. The whole experience was less than great. Never again...

Went to the capri for dinner and ordered the Orange Roughy. When it came it was overdone. The waitress insisted it be returned to the kitchen. The second one was divine! I think the cook may be over cautious and will at times tend to over cook some food. Be specific how you want your meal prepared. I left a larger than normal tip and left pleased. I would recommend Capri!

Capri was a Desert Hot Springs gem. Notice, I said "was". In it's new location, you will still be able to have a good steak and decent service, but long gone is the ambience that made Capri special. Now, it's located in a rundown resort. The cozy bar is gone, along with John's world famous martini's. Expect another oversized, noisy, cheaply carpeted, hotel restaurant.

We use to go to Capri when it was down the street from Miracle Springs Resort. They have brought over the chef and the food is just as good as it was at the other building. Filet Mignon was wonderful. Our Server Juan was just wonderfull. All servers should learn from him. He was on top of his game. We couldn't find one thing wrong with our service. Nice dining room overlooks central pool & garden area. Good choice for authentic Italian cuisine. Server was new so she was still not completely up to speed on either the wine or food menu. Her fellow staffers intuitively stepped in when there was something she was missing. The Halibut in a lemon sauce was melt in your mouth delicious. Appetizer with assorted dips was great. The Caprisi salad was disappointing with hardly even a hint of sweet basil & excessive unattractive lettuce bed for both the acceptable tomatoes & mozzarella. Manager suggested a reasonably priced Francis Ford Coppala California Cabernet which developed nicely with a bit of breathing room. German Chocolate Cheesecake finish was adequate. Potential to become a local fav.

The steaks varied in quality, with the filets the best and the strips not as good. One steak was overdone and readily replaced with one cooked perfectly. Sides dishes -- salad, soup, pasta with marinara -- were fine, the garlic bread barely edible. The Spaghetti Carbonara was too rich to have any flavor other than rich. A different marinade seems to be in use different the original Capri, and the quality of the strips has declined. Very nice people, though, and a fun time was had by all.

We love the Capri and have been eating at the original and this one at Miracle Hot Springs for 20 years! The ambiance is somewhat lacking, but the food is still the same delicious food. Grass fed, aged and hand cut beef and tasty Italian favorites, such as Braciole, cannelloni and manicotti. We indulged in a coconut shrimp appetizer, exquisite with light breading and long strands of coconut, served with a special sweet hot marmalade. We usually eat her every time were are in DHS, and are not disapointed.

I went to eat at the Capri because we had many memorable dinners at the old place. The new Capri does not hold a candle to the original. Even though the menu is the same, the food is not. The lasagna was not edible, the sauce was so thick, you had to cut it with a knife. The bracciole had the texure of meat loaf and the sauce was tasteless. They didn't ruin the pasta. We won't be going back.

Good restaurants are hard to come by in the Desert Hot Springs/Joshua Tree areas, and Capri does not help change that reputation. Where to begin? The garlic bread seemed like it was made on hamburger buns. The Mediterranean Plate appetizer included the worst humus that I had ever tasted. We waited for more than ½ hour for the main courses to arrive after the appetizer. My order was wrong and everything was slathered in olive oil to such a degree that I could taste nothing else. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Our party of seven was very disappointed. Pasta was overlooked, steaks were not good at all (looked like mine had been butterflyd), drinks were small (cheesy wine glasses) and the ambience was awful in the adjacent room we where were seated. The lights were very bright with no way to dim them. It is highly unlikely we will return.

I read a review where it was said "don't go here" and a few others that say "fantastic." Neither one is accurate. It's a perfectly acceptable eating establishment-- and frankly, the best in an area devoid of anything else, so unless you want to drive 25 minutes to Palm Springs and spend a lot more, it's just fine. The food is pedestrian and the service is a bit boorish, but it's tasty and inexpensive. I'd definitely go back. But then, I'd definitely plan a meal or two in Palm Springs too.

This was a return visit. Lobster Bisque was the soup d'jour. It was world class. Ceasar salad was excellent, but what would you expect from a good Italian restaurant. The bone-in Prime New York steak served with several shrimp in butter was also excellent as the main course. I would recommend requesting the steak on a sizzle platter. Chef Sartucci's patented sizzle sauce is a perfect addition to an already great steak. We will return.
