  • "I'm a longtime road warrior, amateur chef, professional eater! IMHO, the most important thing when choosing a place to dine is "trust"! Trust in the food, trust in the experience, trust in the hope that your expectations will be exceeded! I trust Capo. I have been coming to this place for several years. I have been there through different stages of my life as well as the restaurant's. From hot new comer, to trendy A-lister, to solid, modern practitioner of vanguard cuisine. I have found Capo to always be evolving in taste, preparation as well as presentation and crowd. But, always trusted to deliver a superb experience. My latest vista….two nights ago…incredible, again. Put the lobster risotto at the top of any list you have!"

  • "The food is always incredible. My complaint is they cram too may tables into that space. I could hear everything being said by the two tables next to us. The white wine by the glass was $25.00 per glass. Had I known the price I would have looked at bottles. Be prepared to pay $300-$400 for dinner (with drinks). If the price is not an issue and you want a fabulous dinner then Capo is the spot."

  • "I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. It was one of the best meals I've ever had! The menu is full of amazing options. We ended up ordering several appetizers, a pasta dish, and desserts to share. The grilled caesar salad and grilled octopus were incredible, as was the burrata. I had flourless chocolate souffle for dessert that was light and airy and a perfect finish. They have quite a few servers, so you are well cared for while dining. I didn't want for anything from water refills to menu suggestions to help with their extensive wine list. I think you would be happy with anything you ordered here. Prices are high, but it's worth it, especially for special occasion dinners."

  • "Visited Capo several times and, while the prices are extortionate, the food is always excellent. I reserved Saturday's table weeks in advance so was disappointed to be placed inches from the neighbouring table, whose occupant had already requested a table change. The rectangular neighbouring 2-tops had been created from one four top, with the table orientation rotated 90 degrees in order to fit into the tiny space,thus we were seated so far away from our partners that conversation was impossible. With no sign of the maitre D, the next in command haughtily assured us that these were good tables, and he had no trouble filling them. We secured a reservation elsewhere and left. Given the prices charged, clientelle deserve better respect."

  • "We go to Capo every time I'm in town. And when I lived in LA, at least once a month. The only reason I knock off stars, is that I reserve certain seats at the bar every single time... And pretty far in advance. The last few times I've entered only to see someone in the seats I requested. This is just bad customer service for a "regular". Half the time it's the owner, who regardless of the thousands of dollars you spend and the numerous times he has seen you or met you, is terribly rude and cold. If I didn't love Brian, the bartender so much, I wouldn't go. The food is great, but There are so many delicious places to eat in LA. If the owner is there, I'd skip it."

  • "Went there for our 1 year anniversary celebration, and we could not have been treated more nicely! Everyone from the Maitre D to the bartender to our waiter and table servers gave us outstanding attention and care! We had not been there before so we went with the tasting menu. And it was fabulous! It consisted of 8 courses and each time they brought us a course, we each got something different (except for the meat course of filet mignon). Therefore we were served 15 different dishes of exceptional cuisine! We absolutely loved it! Even though their wine list is epic, we brought out own bottle and the corkage fee was $50, which we thought was a bit steep, but everything else about the night was resplendent!"

  • "This is one of the most expensive restaurants in LA, but that's fine when everything is up to standard. While some of the food was outstanding - the steaks were out of this world - not all of it was: the selection of sorbets ranged from the good, through to unpalatable mush. Our waitress was very hit and miss: we kept asking for the second bottle of white wine for our table, and she repeatedly refused to bring it: odd. Our table was excellent: for four people, you do need to be in one of the central areas, as round the edges this place packs them in to such an extent, you become part of your neighbors' conversation and evening."

  • "All food was excellent except for the special- Fritto Misto (at an outrageous price); this dish typically is a wide variety of seafood with a few vegetables; here it was vegetables and a few pieces of shrimp----very disappointing and way overpriced!!!!! Also our first bottle of wine at $70 was corked; maitre recommended an equivalent substitute which we accepted, but when bill came it was for $115; we pointed this out to the waiter who apologized and changed the price to $75"

  • "My third dinner at Capo was as excellent as the first two. The food is delicious and the service is notably friendly and accommodating. The dining room is extremely "cozy" with the maximum number of tables fitted into the space as possible, making it a bit awkward when exiting by a table and trying not to get your sweater into their pasta. Still a stellar experience. Looking forward to going back. My favorites: basil vegetable salad, corn ravioli, blackberry cobbler."

  • "From the moment we walked through two sets of dark velvet curtains (not nearly as weird as that sounds), to the moment we reluctantly left, dinner at Capo was one of the ten best meals I've ever had. We took all our server's suggestions (the guy could sell ice to Eskimos but we loved him) and each dish was even better than the last. Very expensive evening and worth every penny."

  • "I completely agree with the prior review that the food was excellent, the service was just okay (not once did they come back to check that our entree was to our liking), the atmosphere was okay (pretty darn loud and the tables are so close together we could hear the conversations going on around us), and the prices are RIDICULOUS! We eat out a lot and don't mind paying a premium for a meal that is an exceptional experience. There was nothing exceptional to justify their prices. The cheapest glass of champagne was $30 and $22 for a bowl of soup is stupid. There are so many very good restaurants in the Santa Monica/Brentwood area that there is no need to go back to Capo -- unless they reconsider their prices."

I ordered this $50+ chicken truffle dish and it was awful! I'm taking big time send back Quality... The quality of the chicken meat was something you would find At a $1 Chinese place on the hard corner in a rough city.. It's a great restaurant.. Just don't waste a evening and choose from the "birds" Side of the menu"

  • "The food was great...really great. This was our second time here and had to come back for the wonderful service and truffle filled deliciousness. Unfortunately, we only got half the. I don't expect much from a server....even at a nice restaurant. I expect them to be courteous, informative, and helpful. Our server gets one star on all three. After helping me find a bottle of wine, she hardly said a word to my wife and I. I never had a chance to tell her we were celebrating my wife's bday, she never asked how our food was, didn't inform us of the specials (simply pointed to them on the menu). It was a bummer. Dinner was $300 for two, my wife and I had a great time, but definitely had fight frustration the entire meal."

  • "Hands-down some of the best food in town. We've come here many, many times. But the service was not the best Tues. There's something about being a young couple - and NOT on a first date. It bothered me when it took her so long to tell us to choose another bottle because the one we picked was unavailable. We NEVER got the specials read to us, & I got increasingly annoyed as she recited them to newcomers at our surrounding tables. She just asked us, "Do you know what you want for your entrees?" I was more irritated when she asked if we still wanted the breads as our food arrived - while holding on to the basket. She never checked up on us! Even though we spent $300, we probably would've bought more if it wasn't so uncomfortable."

  • "We went to Capo on Halloween night, which was good, because it was nice and quiet, and not too busy. Our dinner reservation was at 6:30, which was perfect because we dined for 2 hours, and had dessert, and were done by 8:30, which was good because it is such rich food, that we prefer to walk, or do something mildly active before going to bed. In other words, we got to burn off some calories before bed. The only flaw in our dining experience, was that the waiter took my boyfriend's plate away from the table before I was done eating, which made us feel a little rushed."

  • "Small, quaint, exclusive & very, very pricey. We love good food and our travel revolve around where we are going to dine. This was a lovely restaurant, the service was excellent and some of the dishes were exceptional. Some of the dishes were little better than typical, but the prices were 2-3 times higher than other similar dining experiences we have tried. Delighted that we tried it, but will most likely not be dining there in the future."

However, because it is so busy there is always a long wait for a table which becomes rather frustrating after it happens over and over again. I love the pasta and especially the decadent volcano cake but is it worth waiting 45 minutes for a table for???"

  • "While the food was good and the service excellent, it was VERY expensive, no value for the amount spent. This has to be the msot expensive restaurant in town. The wine list was impossible to read or order from and one of the most expensive lists I have ever seen. It was a joke to have to spend $60 on a Half Bottle of wine that was only so-so. This list was for a collector and not for someone who wanted to just have a nice bottle of wine with dinner. Would not return due to expense of menu."

We decided to be adventurous and try the Chef's 8 course Dinner Tasting, and we could not have been happier! Each course was new, different, creative and delicious. A wonderful restaurant for an elegant dinner---highly recommend it!!!"

  • "Food was well prepared, though very pricey. First time I have seen a salmon for $63!! Everything on the menu was overpriced by about 40%. I did not purchase wine, but assume it was overpriced as well. It is a nice setting for romantic night out of special occasion when price is not a consideration."
