A word from Capitol City Brewing Company - Downtown
Capitol City Brewing Co. opened its doors in 1992 as the first brew pub in our nation's capitol since prohibition, thus giving its citizens and its many visitors the freedom to enjoy some of the finest hand-crafted beer in the country. On the front of our menu is the symbol of freedom, the Lady Liberty, a statue found atop our namesake, the United States Capitol. Nestled in the heart of Washington's rejuvenated downtown, this location has become a local landmark for celebrating great beer and food with family and friends. We have always taken great pride in our beer so come in and enjoy a cold pint of our very best and match it to one of the many menu selections tailored to the brews we serve.Continued

  • "Good food, quite busy. Our waiter disappeared for a bit, but other than that, no complaints. Cherry Wheat beer, which we were told was sweet was actually quite. bland. Everything else was great, but definitely get a reservation before you go or you will wait a while."

  • "We met up with some friends from out of town and we had a group of 9. They accommodated us with a great table and did not push us out the door as soon as we were done eating. We started with some appetizers, and the hummus was delicious! Two of the boys had ribs and they were so tender they basically fell off the bone. We all had clean plates when the evening was over, so we must have all enjoyed our meals."

  • "With a large menu full of choices raning from pasta dishes to an awesome cubano sandwich you can please any taste buds if you choose Capital City Brewing. The beer selection is also noteable. Surely kid friendly which is a bonus after trying to inspire and educate them all day sight seeing. Team members were friendly and attentive. We had an enjoyable positive experience."

  • "Was looking for a place to watch the final four games with my adult children. They are a brewing company, but were out of there own beer at 8 PM. Also some food item were already out! We ordered two appetizers, and after 40 minutes, we received entrees. Then 10 minutes later they brought the appetizers. The wait staff was running around filling waters, yet no one had beer or food. At least 5 staff hung out at the front desk. No one appeared to be assisting the wait staff. No one offered to comp our appetizers, we had to ask. Really long wait times for boring food, and no beer selection!"

  • "Enjoyed the food and fun atmosphere. Waiter was very attentive even though you all were so busy - a Saturday night. It was very loud - probably for the younger crowd."

  • "Second time at Capitol City Brewing. We like to visit breweries when we travel. You are pretty much guaranteed good beer & good food and CCBC does not disappoint. We were in Washington for a wedding and knew from a past visit at CCBC that we could get a good meal at a good price. I made a reservation for 8 people and had to call and change the time of our reservation since we were running about an hour and half late. There was no problem in changing the time even though it was a Friday night. When we walked in, we were seated immediately which was nice since we were all hungry and thirsty from driving 5 1/2 hours. I would recommend CCBC. You won't be disappointed."

  • "I have been here a couple of times with some friends. When I have family visit from out of the state, I always bring them here because I know the food is going to be awesome! I love the Ribs. They are my go-to dinner! The steaks are delicious too and so are the amazing Mojitos!!"

  • "Never have I walked into a place and just immediately felt like I just don't have to worry! I love this place. Great food, great beer, and just overall happiness at a table. Our server was both knowledgeable and friendly. Not to mention her great memory and speed. She was just a gem! I wish I remembered her name so I could tell you all to ask for her! This is the second time I have taken my fiance here to "meet the parents" and it just suits our needs for it every time!"

  • "Let me just start off by saying that this review is purely based off where we were seated at the restaurant. The downstairs area around the bar seems vibrant and fun, but we were seated upstairs in a room away from that energy, almost in an "after-thought" area. We had a party of eight, so not too big, and I had reservations, so it was sort of frustrating to be seated up there. Not the experience I was hoping for. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The food was good, but was not noteworthy. Overall the experience was sort of "meh". We've now been to the Shirlington Capitol City Brewing Company and the downtown one, and I can honestly say I probably won't go back to either one again."

  • "Energetic, brew pub atmosphere with better than average bar food and dining specialties. Tilapia and Salmon were both better than expected. Salads are huge, try the pear. Great downtown location right across the street from the Grand Hyatt and Marriott for a better than "what's in the hotel" bite. Second visit in as many years when in from out of town."

  • "I made reservations for 10 through Open Table but called the restaurant to increase my party size to 14. The restaurant was not only glad to increase my party size but called often to confirm my reservation. There was a great group of people there to aid with our party, they were timely with orders and food, our waiter checked on us often and was there for all of our needs and I truly enjoyed him and his service. The food was sooooo good. I enjoyed the buffalo wings and crab dip as an appetizer with my party, along with an apple walnut salad. The salad was so filling, I couldn't eat it all, it was delicious and the dressing complimented the salad perfectly. I will definitely be using this restaurant for future events and recommending them."

  • "They were very accommodating for 7 people. Didn't mind running separate tabs at a table. Food was ok bar pub fare, which is what one should expect. The Ruben was a little soggy, the Cuban was tasty, the pulled pork was laden with BBQ. If I were to return it would be to watch a game and grab a beer near the office."

  • "It was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Caps were playing... The place was pretty empty... At first I was worried as we were seated in one of the Kitchen booths (those located in front of the open air kitchen). Staff were yammering, screaming, having fun.... I thought... oh my... BUT, then they finished their work, and came out, apologized to us, explained their situation, which was completely reasonable and fun to hear. Just love the workers there. Our food was perhaps the best we ever had there, super hot (temp), prompt service, and their great beer.... And so reasonably priced! You realize - right? - that you get happy hour beer prices at tables... Not many places do this... Cheer CCBC! See ya next time..."

  • "The food was so bland. The beer was...bland. The service was not good- took someone almost 10 minutes to come over, got orders wrong. There was nothing bad, but everything was painfully average or below average."

Also, I like the ambience of the restaurant especially the bar area. Cap City is excellent for lunch and for happy hours. I would definitely celebrate another office gathering there."
