  • "We came to celebrate a special occasion - a birthday lunch. While there are lots of other places to go near the job I always love The Capital Grille. The decor is top top notch as always. And the wait staff (Frederik Magalona was attentive and quite speedy all in all a gem). The food is what I always come back for because it is, and was, delicious. The birthday dessert was delicious."

  • "I love the crew at Cap Grille, but will not be back on the weekends. While the service is normally top notch, the bartender was not set up for success by having the bar, and the cocktail area and the service bar by himself. In my opinion, one person cant handle that even on a slower Saturday night. Adding insult was the manager doing inventory right in front of us and our empty drinks while he watched the bartender trying to keep up. Not the service I have become use to there, though its on the management and not the staff."

  • "I've dined at Capital Grille Wall St several times and will visit again. The service is always good. The calamari and lamb chops we ordered were great. The sea bass was a bit fishy and overpriced for its simplicity (just served over broth with a few tomatoes). It's the only dish I ever regretted ordering at capital grille. This dish should be changed or removed from the menu."

  • "This was not my first time at Capital Grille but it may be my last. I arrived to see a crowd of people standing by the hostess waiting to be seated. The restaurant was having seating issues even though I could see many open tables. Upon being seated, we were not given a drinks menu and we had to ask for one when the waiter asked us if we wanted to order a drink. How do we know what we want to drink if we don't get a menu? They ran out of martini glasses (how does a restaurant run out of glasses) and served our martinis in a cup. They also ran out of the steak that we wanted to order. How does a steakhouse run out of steak? And when dessert came, they ran out of forks. The waiter made us look at our dessert for 10 minutes before we got forks"

  • "I decided to finally go to Capital Grille and went during Restaurant Week. The experience was amazing from start to finish. First plus- they had a table ready when we arrived for our reservation, whereas oftentimes at other restaurants, we still have to wait with a reservation. I was then blown away after being seated when our server greeted me by name! It shows a lot when restaurants use their guest information to make a fine, personal dining experience. I was especially surprised by this as I am in the hospitality industry and am aware of such details. Since it was our first time there, our server treated us to a complimentary dish of calamari-one of my favorites and one of her favorite desserts, totally unexpected! Wonderful experience!"

  • "They clearly had a corner of the downstairs area where they were seating restaurant week patrons. Our table was next to the coat room so there were constantly people standing next to our table. Then, we were informed that they had "run out" of the signature Kona steak for the restaurant week. And they were out of all bottles of wine <$100. Fine. But between ordering right away so as not to miss getting our second choice dishes and the 4 bottles of wine they did not have, our wine showed up after the first course. It had not opened up to be drinkable until after dessert came. It was a lovely bottle but it needed some attention which we did not receive. It's sad when restaurant week patrons are treated badly. Not becoming a go-to as hoped."

  • "Food was excellent - well presented, tasty and nice sized portions. Our party was seated in a room with a large table, so it was very quiet and intimate. However, we did not get any of the ambience from the rest of the restaurant. The service was attentive, unobtrusive and good, albeit a bit slow. The meal took longer than we had hoped, and the time between each course was a bit long. Overall though, a very good meal"

  • "Nice restaurant..beautiful ambience.. worst dinning experience Service was incredibly slow. It seriously took 2 hrs to get a steak that tasted burnt when we ordered medium rare. Terrible service. It took 15mins each time to get our server. The waiter didnt even have the correct knives for us until we asked.. our wine came out after our steak. We both ordered filets. Worst service I have ever received. Disappointing dinning experience. Would not recommened. Theres so many better steak restaurants in the city."

  • "The Capital Grille is located on the back side of 120 Broadway. The furnishings lent to the ambiance of what the financial district was like 30 years ago. The restaurant itself is situated in what was a bank. The vault on the lower level still remains and now has tables inside the vault. The wait and server staff was excellent. They were friendly and quick to respond. The food was well prepared and plated. The sirloin in butter was very tasty, and the quality of the cut was very good. I would recommend this restaurant."

  • "My coworker and I went to CG during restaurant week for dinner. When we got in to the restaurant, ppl were friendly and brought us to our table. The filet Mignon was tender, mashed potato was buttery and sweet which I love it! Overall food quality and services are excellent. There clam chowder IS very delicious, we even ordered a takeout when we left and the most important thing is that the chowder was FREE!!!"

  • "I came here during restaurant week for my mom's birthday. I ordered the Caesar salad (she got the clam chowder), we both got the dry-aged sirloin, and for desert we got both the cheesecake with berries and the flourless chocolate espresso cake. Everything from the service to the furniture was so luxurious. The appetizers were great, and the steaks melted in our mouths and were seasoned to perfection. The desserts made me want to cry. The cheesecake had a brulee topping and the crust was buttery and not graham cracker-y. The chocolate cake had the consistency of a truffle and I had to stop myself from licking the plate. I will definitely go back for special occasions because it's well worth the money!"

  • "I took my friend for lunch to celebrate his retirement. We ordered the raw oysters to start with and they were fresh and delicious. We decided to go light and ordered the fish instead of a steak and it was prepared to perfection. I love coming here with my colleagues.....it's close to the job, the service is great so we're in and out but never feel rushed. Capital Grille Wall Street always is on top of my list of go-to places."

  • "This was my second time at Capital Grille Wall Street. The first time was impeccable. Fast forward to Feb and, despite reservations days in advance, we were seated in the vault. Our waiter was so distracted that he had to apologize more than once for his inability to get things correct. He even brought the wrong bottle of wine. After our meal he dropped off the check -- just left it on the table -- without asking if we wanted coffee or tea. I had to flag another waiter down to request coffee. We never saw our waiter again. Lunch cost $200 and while the food was good, the service was truly poor. I would think twice about returning, especially with a client."

  • "We had a reservation but still...they were not expecting that many people. One bartender cannot handle a crowd that size. We were ignored for the first ten minutes and finally two managers stepped in to help him out. Still thought he could have moved a little more quickly to accommodate the rush. The food was still good- they forgot part of our order so we canceled it. But they need a back-up plan in case the sleepy financial district wakes up on a Saturday night again."

  • "The service was first rate!! Our server Amy was the absolute best! That said, CG rates at the bottom of my list of steakhouses. The steaks were a bit too fatty... Wolfgangs, Uncle Jacks, Keens, Morton's, Lugers, Ruth's, The Clubhouse, Blackstone, Insignia...all a better bet for a great steak. I may look to the seafood if there was a next time"

I have never been to The Capital Grille before, but surely, it won't be my last. When I first waked in and checked in for my reservation, the hostess was super polite, and she kept apologizing for the "wait", but I didn't wait any longer than 5 minutes. After we seated, our waiter was very prompt and accommodating. My food was perfectly portioned, and perfectly cooked. Overall, it was an incredible dining experience, and I'll be sure to return, even if it's not Restaurant Week."
