The restaurant's decor is elegant and steeped in the tradition of Detroit--with portraits of historic automotive executive legends hanging on the rich, wood paneled walls. We split a 10 oz filet mignon, sauteed spinach, and Sam's mashed potatoes. All dishes were relaibly good, as one expects from the Capital Grille in any location. The steak had a nice char. The spinach was well prepared, but a bit salty. The real star, however, was Sam's mashed potatoes. They are simply the best potatoes ever, rich and buttery. My client was just learning wine and the server gave tastes of three recommended wines that would go with the meal which was a very nice touch. Was able to enjoy both the wine and the meal. Upper class restaurant, great service, on the top end of restaurants and price. We went to dinner there for my mother's 70th birthday, for which I alerted the restaurant previously. When we arrived there was a notecard with birthday wishes on it for her. The food menu is limited, however they do everything on it exceptionally well. also, the wine list is extensive. Our meal was excellent! Afterwards, our server snapped a photo of our family and presented my mother with a complimentary creme brulee for dessert. When she finished her dessert, the server then returned with the photo she snapped matted and framed, with the whole staff's signatures on the mat! We were the first customers of the day in the dining area. The staff was very attentive to every detail. Food from the cheeseburger with the truffle fries, to salmon, filet mignon, and the appetizers...the flavors were amazing. Only one negative comment - the raw oysters still had bits of rocks/sand in them but just a bit...FYI. Overall, it was still great.
