Capital Grille - NY – Chrysler CenterCan't beat their steaks.I am a regular diner at Capital Grille. For this location the food is exceptional as always at Capital Grilles across the country. Service was adequate but not up to the price level. Ambiance is lacking. We were jammed into a round partial booth for for 6 people but we had 8. That meant two guests were getting run over the whole meal as servers attempted to get by. I live the food but starting to question if it is worth the money. We were seated in a less hectic part of the restaurant which enabled easier conversation, but we did not feel isolated from the action nor rushed. Hostess, waiter, and busboy were all polite, friendly, and attentive. Our order was taken and served in a timely manner. The juicy sirloin steaks are a staple of the menu and are well priced for the type of food and restaurant. Finally, an opportunity presented itself with a business lunch there, and I couldn't have been more pleased. The service was top-notch. It was attentive without being intrusive, and all the food was prepared to perfection. I personally had the filet special, which was a steak oscar, and that was delicious. We were not disappointed. Overall, the experience was wonderful. The service was exceptional, the food was excellent, and the ambiance was stunning for a ground floor restaurant (the glass and steel walls and ceiling which angle to a sharp point at the highest two-three story point are evocative of the Chrysler Building's terriced crown).

The staff was friendly and most accommodating, and our waitress did a grand job of providing us with excellent service and keeping with all of our demands. The presentation of the food was well done and the taste, outstanding. Our waitress had recommended the filet mignon which was heavenly good. We always have a great dining experience because the service and food are always consistently well done. Our waitress was so sweet. She overheard us celebrating our wedding anniversary and she brought us over two glasses of champagne. She was sweet to our 3yr old daughter and brought her a piece of dessert. We had the perfect evening out celebrating our anniversary. The steaks are always cooked exactly how you request them. The sides are large for sharing and so yummy. Their wine list is very impressive, although we have seen their prices go up significantly. We always felt we got a great wine for good value when dining there. That feeling has changed. The service is great and the steak above average but no where near the top of the steak house food chain in NY. That being said it has become my go to steak house in the Grand Central area. Great service but the host/hostesses are general obnoxious and not welcoming (I have been here five times in the last few months so it is not my imagination).
