When I made the reservation I did mention this special celebration. When we arrived at our table is was lined with red rose petals and little hearts in various colors. The waitress was fun, knowledgeable and very accommodating. The food was fantastic. The wedge salad is a definite favorite. Dessert was served on them. Initially had a reservation for 4 and amended the morning of the reservation to 6 without any problems. Upon arrival we were seated in a very intimate and well-apportioned private dining room with several other guests. We were then cared for by the very attentive staff. From the rose on the table, to the extra appetizer, champagne and dessert, our steak and of course THE lobster Mac-n-cheese, we were thoroughly pampered and had one of the best dining experiences ever! It is one of my favorite restaurants because their service and attention to detail is always impeccable. My wife and three young children (6, 5, & 3) went there for lunch to celebrate my graduation from the School of Advanced Military Studies. The food was delicious and Chico, our waiter was outstanding. Our three year old was tired and one of the hostess made a little bed for her in an adjoining room (with table cloths) for her to sleep on. The host remembered us from the last time we dined (about 6 months prior). I definitely recommend the Capital Grille for anyone looking for excellent food, service, and ambience. Great for a celebration or a romantic evening.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMProbably Our FavoriteWe sometimes go to a restaurant with a tasting menu, and we ofter choose a french restaurant, but I'd have to say that overall Capital Grille is our favorite. Their lamb is the best I've ever had, and the service is amazing. We've been to at least 6 other CG's around the country, and the people at the KC restaurant are better than the others. They always make us feel special no matter what the occasion. The steaks are bar none, one if not THE best in Kansas City. They offer an extensive wine list and you cant pass up the lobster mac n cheese! Tenderloin cooked to perfection, jumbo shrimp cocktail, oysters on the half shell, smoked salmon, baked salmon, creamy mashed potatoes, an array of delectable desserts...all so delicious.
Service was sub par. While our server was perky, (which actually came off as insincere) she was very inattentive. We continued to have empty beverage glasses (which really is disappointing for a Mother on Mother's day poised for few cocktails), empty plates (which at a brunch buffet is necessary to stay on top of). Server was very friendly and knowledgeable, however there were long gaps in service starting with at least a 20 minute wait for him to arrive. I also stood in the bar area for at least 15 minutes waiting for the rest of my party to arrive, no service in there either.
