Capital Grille - Garden CityEven on Mother's Day, it was greatOur first visit to Capital Grille in Garden City was for Mother's Day. Normally, restaurants are crowded, noisy, with terrible service and poorly cooked for on a day like this. Not so at Capital Grille. Except for the oysters on the seafood platter that were bad, everything was wonderful. Service was excellent for the most part, our server Natasha was still in a great mood after hours there and numerous diners that day. Food was very good. The filet and sirloin were cooked exactly as ordered and the sides of mash potatoes and asparagus was delicious. We ordered an appetizer of crab meat and a wedge salad. Both were good. We were celebrating our anniversary and when our waitress found out she surprised us with a glass of champagne and made the evening special.
The service was excellent. The only thing I would mention was that we were seated in a booth right next to the "kitchen" and it was a bit noisy. Next time I would request another seat away from kitchen. This was one of the most pleasant dining experiences we've had in ages. The staff is top notch. The manager Sara & our fabulous waitress Rachael outdid themselves. This traditionally decorated steakhouse is updated w/ elegance. The Delmonico dry aged steak was seasoned & grilled perfectly. I tasted it and agreed with my husband that it was one of the best steaks he's had, ever. Better than the infamous...oh, I shouldn’t say! The Wagyu Beef Carpaccio w/ Wasabi Arugula was light & delicate, with incredible flavor. The Pan Fried Calamari defies description. On the comments section, I added that it was his birthday. We arrived at the restaurant an hour early and asked if we could be seated then instead of at the reserved time. Not only did they allow this, but when we got to our table, it was decorated for a birthday including a personalized card for him. This was punctuated with a complimentary glass of champagne for each of us. The wine list was exceptional and the food was unbelievable. We began with shrimp cocktail--perfectly prepared and served--and followed with amazing steaks and sides. When it was time for dessert and coffee, my husband was presented with a complimentary top-shelf dessert. We were given a table in a great location, nicely decorated and service that was impeccable. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked and very tender and flavorful. Although the entrees were pricey, they are still much better than many of Long Islands "noted" steakhouses. I went to the restaurant with a group of 11, and we were placed in a private room. The atmosphere in the restaurant was busy but quiet. We were greeted amiably by Jesse Miranda, our host for the evening. His service made us feel that we were being catered to as special guests! I ordered the chopped salad and the Delmonico steak with reduced balsamic vinegar. The salad was delicious and the steak was sublime, cooked exactly as I had ordered. Everyone in the group loved their choices. Service was beyond....... but my wife's filet was on the salty side and my porterhouse was lacking something. It just wasn't up to par. We are pickier than I like to admit which is why I felt the need to write. The Capital Grille was absolutely incredible. The lobster bisque and macaroni and cheese were to die for! However, what made this experience so notable was our server. Tasha Madden provided us with the best experience we've had in years! From beginning to end, her knowledge, smile, and hospitality made us feel like we were the only people in the room. There are very few people who do her job as well as she does. We will absolutely be back and will be requesting her every time. Can't wait to go back/2/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI went to capital grille becauseI went to capital grille because my wife to be goes to the one in the city, so what better than to try one out closer to home for valentines day. booked on open table and when we got there i realized how classy of a place this is. our server Wilson Sanchez ( i know how last name because of his business card). took care of us all night, made us laugh and built rapport with us. which is great because the place is pretty quiet and it made me feel more at home. they have and extensive wine selection and the filet mignon is to die for. i will try the porterhouse next.
