Despite the fact that we're as informal as it gets, we were slightly disarmed by the server addressing me by my first name and requesting my spouse's first name, and using both. Give the sever some credit for observing some discomfort and backing off. I have no objection, but don't assume I came to CG looking to make a new friend. The entire staff outdid themselves from the first time. We had a small room off the main dining area and we were treating like royalty. I let them know ahead of time it was her birthday and when we got there they had decorated the table and had a birthday card there waiting for here. Our waitress was nothing short of spectacular and the food was out of this world. Easily one of the best if not the best dining experience we ever had. Our night ended with the waitress bringing over 2 glasses of champagne for a birthday cheers along with a delicious slice of chocolate cake. Thank you Rachael for always going that extra mile. We went for a birthday dinner and were treated to birthday confetti, complimentary champagne toast, a birthday card & a specially made dessert that spelled out "Happy Birthday."
The filet mignon with lobster tails in a lemon butter sauce was perfect, as was the salmon I ordered rare - and actually got rare! The kitchen knows how to maintain the temperature of their food. The desserts were works of art, even the coffee was good. All while you are treated like royalty & like family. That is an achievement few restaurants achieve.

My wife's Black Russian came with a bonus of some kind of vegetation in the bottom of the glass.had The manager was extremely apologetic and comped almost half of the check. It turned out to be a mint leave which has no place in a Black Russian. We have had Black Russians here before and they were made perfectly so, I am at a loss for what happened. The rest of the meal was excellent. We both had the Kona rubbed steaks and they were very, very good. The starters, lobster bisque and tomato and mozzarella salad, were excellent. I asked for ny steak medium well and it was cooked well done. in addition, it was almost inedible because of the black burnt crust all on the outside everyone had steak cooked like that. extremely unappetizing. Great for Long Islander's that don't want to drive all the way to Manhattan for a great meal. Usually too crowded on weekends but went on a Saturday night and was accomodated immediately. Noise level is pretty loud though. Also have been for lunch on a weekday, which was quiet (which I prefer). Better option than Ruth's Chris. Normally, restaurants are crowded, noisy, with terrible service and poorly cooked for on a day like this. Not so at Capital Grille. Except for the oysters on the seafood platter that were bad, everything was wonderful. Service was excellent for the most part, our server Natasha was still in a great mood after hours there and numerous diners that day. The only criticism I have is that when we asked out waitress if we could have a egg white omelet for our children, our waitress just told us that they didn't have egg whites. She didn't even attempt to check with the kitchen staff, she just dismissively told us that w, they had to settle for regular egg omelets. I worked as a waiter while in college and I was always taught that the customer was always right to a certain degree. 1.) how much effort does it take to make two egg white omelets?, 2.) Tips are earned and are not guaranteed and 3.) Food was very good. The filet and sirloin were cooked exactly as ordered and the sides of mash potatoes and asparagus was delicious. We ordered an appetizer of crab meat and a wedge salad. Both were good. We were celebrating our anniversary and when our waitress found out she surprised us with a glass of champagne and made the evening special.
The service was excellent. The only thing I would mention was that we were seated in a booth right next to the "kitchen" and it was a bit noisy. Next time I would request another seat away from kitchen. This traditionally decorated steakhouse is updated w/ elegance. The Delmonico dry aged steak was seasoned & grilled perfectly. I tasted it and agreed with my husband that it was one of the best steaks he's had, ever. Better than the infamous...oh, I shouldn’t say! The Wagyu Beef Carpaccio w/ Wasabi Arugula was light & delicate, with incredible flavor. The Pan Fried Calamari defies description. On the comments section, I added that it was his birthday. We arrived at the restaurant an hour early and asked if we could be seated then instead of at the reserved time. Not only did they allow this, but when we got to our table, it was decorated for a birthday including a personalized card for him. This was punctuated with a complimentary glass of champagne for each of us. The wine list was exceptional and the food was unbelievable. We began with shrimp cocktail--perfectly prepared and served--and followed with amazing steaks and sides. When it was time for dessert and coffee, my husband was presented with a complimentary top-shelf dessert.
