Capital Grille – PlanoHappy38It was our 38 Anniversary and a friend suggeste the Capital Grille. The food was exquisite and the service and atmosphere was remarkable. We enjoyed the best dry rubbed steaks in our lives and the lobster was unbelievably succulent and well prepared. Service was right on the spot with plenty of time to reminisque and never feel interupted. In fact, the staff, management and the Chef all visited the table extending warm wishes for many "more" happy years together and their apprecaitiuon of our visiting them for this special occasion. Food was very good and the lobster mac and cheese can be addictive. This location is very open and energetic but not very intimate. We celebrated a special occasion at this outing and concluded this location for us would not be considered very romantic. Still, the food, service and overall experience at this Capitol Grill makes this one of the finest restaurants in the Plano area. When discussing desert with Samantha we talked about a special adult milkshake desert offered at the Fort Worth location, our server called this location, got the recipe and had the bartender make them for us. We took two of our grandchildren there to celebrate an 11th birthday. One of them is Gluten Intolerant so we were concerned. When we asked our waitress about it she was very quick to go to the kitchen and ask all the appropriate questions and gave us a complete report on the acceptable menu items. We sat on the veranda and the kids loved the people watching outside and the view. It was a great night. I enjoyed the Sea Bass, my wife had the Sole. The children both enjoyed their meals (Filet Mignon and Grilled Chicken). The French Fries are fantastic! Our table was decorated with a long stem rose and hearts as we were celebrating our anniversary. They even took our picture! The bread was absolutely the best in town. The steaks and seafood were amazing and the lobster mac and cheese had chunks of lobster with a creamy sauce. This is truly a wonderful place and especially fun if you are celebrating a special occasion. A business associated and I stopped in and both had the Ribeye sandwhich - amazingly good. We had french fries as our side which were amazingly dissappointing. they need to steal the french fries from their neighbors at Gordon Biersch. Service was underwhelming - present when unnecessary, absent when needed. Nice enough person, but I'd expect mroe from a restaurant of this caliber (even at lunch). Not fan of the decor of the restaurant - the local competation is nicer. Mon-Fri!Us girls enjoyed the "Plate" lunch specials! Every item we chose was wonderful! Roasted Pepper soup was a delicious, healthier soup, the Lobster Roll was more lobster & less 'goooo' (Yay!!!) Scallops on Pearl Couscous (Yum!) plus my choice, the Tenderloin mini-burgers (with a tiny amount of wonderful sauce & mushrooms!).

The lobster eggs benedict was freshly made and delivered to our table. It was absolutely delicious. Fresh squeezed orange juice and made-to-order french toast that tasted like it was made out of a giant cinnamon roll. Delicious! The buffet included sliced beef tenderloin, giant shrimp, crab claws and roast chicken with a large assortment of accompaniments. For the kids, they brought fresh, delicious mac-n-cheese and mini-burgers. Then, of course, there were the desserts. He was delightful and very knowledgable, a young man with confidence and savoire fare far beyond his years. We enjoyed his company as much as we enjoyed the meal. My Delmonico with the aged balsamic sauce melted in the mouth. Davie's filet and lobster was outstantding. For dessert Davie had the coconut cream pie which was good but was far outdistanced by the Cheesecake with strawberries and blueberries. That was pure perfection. The Delmonico bones also were savored by our border collie Mollie. She sends her thanks as well. The valet to the reception to the bar, on to the table and the satisfied walk out. The Proprietor, Greg Cavanaugh, is everywhere at once-he is a true Gentleman-knows his business-people, food, wine, excellent service and creates a comfortable, elegant ambiance. The Bar is professional and drinks well-made. The dining, inside, outside or in the "patio" that has large glass panels that open to vibrant street scene, each provide a different setting within this top notch venue. The Chef does a wonderful job, since we have never had a bad dish, and he is very personable.
